By "women", you mean specifically Jenkins and her costume designer? I saw WW with two female friends and they both felt the same as I did.

Well I saw Wonder Woman with my 40-strong harem of implausibly attractive nerd GFs and they each said that Wonder Woman's short hemline made them feel empowered like a Suffragette loaded on PCP.

But if I was WW and came to our world's Brittain of 1918, I would drop that outfit as soon as possible for practical reasons (cold weather, attracting unnecessary attention. etc.)

Which is exactly.what.she.did. See the damn movie...

Yes, only to drop it on the front and go back to her old costume.

Also, I honestly don't want to sound derogatory and I apologize if it comes out so, I think this might be simply cultural and social difference between US and my country.

Which is a symbol of her people. She is there to represent an Amazonian mission.

I know I'm getting on thin ice here, but I don't get this duality of modern feminism - on one hand promoting strenght and independence, on other hand appealing to men by dressing in these revealing outfits.

And I was not talking about amazons, but specifically about wonder woman. 1) amazons seem to live in tropic area, so it's kind of logical to wear such outfits, 2) as someone pointed out, it's not so far from male fashion in ancient Rome and Greece. But if I was WW and came to our world's Brittain of 1918, I would drop that outfit as soon as possible for practical reasons (cold weather, attracting unnecessary attention. etc.)
She's there to fight a war, why would she drop the armor that was highly revered in her own culture of battle ready Amazonians that she has seen in action, and shown to be very capable. She even questioned the type of weak "armor" in a Britain fashion store. It makes no sense at all why should with ditch her own armor.

As far as unnecessary attention, I really doubt that was her priority. If anything, Steve was the one who was more worried about that, and they accounted for that factor when he made her dress more appropriately for the location (with armor still underneath).

At this point, I just feel like you're grasping at straws. Under your logic, you'd probably have a big problem with how 300 was portrayed then?

Do you live in nerdy Themyscira? Hook it up bro! :sly:

I wouldn't even call Gadot's costume revealing. I mean yeah, it leaves her legs, arms and shoulders uncovered but... compared to the crap that Diana's sometimes been forced to wear in the comics and other media, it's not bad.

She should've charged into battle in one of the other conversative outfits she tried on. :o

And you make out as if it's only in the US that people have that view and everywhere else think it's too revealing. Lots of people on this board are from many different countries. It's not just a US-centric board. They don't have a problem with it. There are lots of females on this board too. One of them even bought a similar "revealing" WW costume and she's from Israel not the US.

And if you look at all the reviews around the web. There are many by women and none of them complain about the costume being too revealing at all, or this movie pandering to males.

You do know that her armor set are gifts from the gods right and they weren't meant to leave the island?

regardless of whether or not the traditional Greco-Roman skirt was sexist for WW to wear (it wasn't) I would like to see her don either a slightly altered suit or a substantially different one

would also be neat if they added a cape

She's also a Goddess, so the cold is not going to effect her much.

She did have that cape in early shots. There was a more feathered cape very similar to the above image. I don't know why they got rid of that. The thing she wore in the movie was the closest to the cape we got.

Actually, yes, I think those 300 outfits were ridiculous.

Honestly, as I'm reading all the comments, I give you that many of you have a point, I haven't thought about it that much to completely think it through. It's just my personal preference, when a female main character is supposed to be tough and badass, I just like her with more complete outfit, like I mentioned Lady Sif in Thor.

From those pictures above, the first one actually looks pretty cool.

was this from after Gadot was cast? cause the likeness is spot on

Which would only happen if the movie were terrible. In which case, what exactly is wrong with hating it?

Of *course* people would have a different reaction to the movie if it were crap. Its getting a strong positive response because it *isn't* crap, its quite good.
Just because critics say a movie sucks, doesn't mean it actually sucks.

Lady Sif is not an iconic character at all. Wonder Woman is, and so is her imagery. Sif looks bland by comparison.

And you keep talking about her being "tough and badass", but that's not all she is. It seems you only have this image of her as this tough as nails warrior.

WW wearing the armour she wears fits in with her culture. Why would she go into battle a) wearing something she's not comfortable in and b) wearing something so anachronistic to her own culture? Would you have liked all the Amazons to be wearing long pants in Themyscira? Their outfits could've been seen as revealing too.

Should athletes and sports women all wear clothes that cover them up?

I like the looks of all those outfits. I will say, I do prefer a more covered, practical look, but I also love what we finally received. It is a kick-ass outfit that is both powerful and attractive. And let's face it, WW - whether in the comics or the old shows - never shied away from showing too much shoulders or legs.

WW - the Musical.:woot:

There were elements of Frozen in this movie, as well as the Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. I think Patty even said that the Little Mermaid might have been an influence.

There better be a twirl transformation in WW2

There better be a twirl transformation in WW2

I would love to see that, even if it's just a one-off transformation as a homage to the show.

WW did that in an episode of Justice League.

I don't think Jenkins should shy away from it either, especially if the word "cheesy" has been banned from her vocabulary.

It would be a real crowd-pleasing moment which could get lots of applause. And it should have the thunderclap sound to accompany it. It would be the equivalent of Superman pulling his shirt open to reveal the S. Is that completely necessary? No. But it's an iconic moment.

Jenkins should put some of these iconic moments back into WW because not everyone knows them now. The WW spin is something that little kids can even imitate once again in the playground. It's putting little touches like these in that elevate it even more to iconic status, and which probably had a hand in doing that in the first place.

This would be a good "powered up" outfit, but I'd hope her default is still, well... her default.
