I will have to see the movie again with your interpretation in mind.

All I can say is that, upon my initial viewing, there was no sense of a gap in logic that would need to be filled by the events of BvS.

I thought her decision to stay flowed from the events of this movie.

Exactly. I just don't think it's as big a deal as some are making it out to be.

I know Patty said WW would now be based in the US, but it feels like a waste. I want to see WW in exotic places, the goddamn jungle for instance. lol Eh.

I'm sure we'll get more globetrotting in Justice League. It will be interesting to see a WW movie focused on modern America and how she integrates into that society. Worked out great for Winter Soldier.

Yeah, I'm sure she'll deliver regardless of the setting, hopefully.

I get the feeling this series is going to suffer from the same continuity issues as X-men.

That is fine by me. Continuity ruins things more than anything. Keep things vague dont paint yourself into a corner.

There's something I'm not quite getting, maybe you guys can clear things up. When Diana is talking about all men not being good and that she learned that the hard way, she's speaking from a time in the present. And when we see her at the end of the movie as WW, it is after the events of BvS, where her faith in humanity has been reinvigorated somewhat after Superman's sacrifice, and she's now actively trying to help out in the world. There's nothing in the movie to suggest that she didn't walk away after WW1 from trying to save the world from its own mistakes. Or am I getting it wrong?

Patty said they changed the original ending if i remember correctly. Realistically WW would never "walk away" because it isn't in her character.

There are holes in the DCEU now that one could drive a truck through. Nothing now contradicts anything of import so far when you really look at it. There are myriad ways to see how Diana's story went further along and many ways it would still imply much about the time from 1917-2016.

I dont see any continuity issues between BvS and WW. They didn't contradict anything and it complements each other very well. When Diana said she walked away from mankind it meant she wasnt a public hero and she left mankind to make its own course. And thats what she did. Simple really.

It floors me that there was even an idea to remove that sequence. The fact that there were actual discussions about it is disturbing.

After what happened with Suicide Squad there is no stupidity from WB that I will find remotely surprising :funny:

You would be surprised at what gets pressured to be cut for a variety of reasons. Hell the tie in shot from Avengers was gonna be cut until Whedon essentially made the argument that the tie in shot was pretty much the entire point of the film.

Saw the movie for a second time today, this time in IMAX Digital 3D.

The effects looked much better i.e. the CGI fighting didn't look so "wobbly" when everything was in digital. It was actually great to see the effects like this and the zooms and angles did seem like they had 3D in mind a lot.

All the action sequences were really fun to see like this. Just the Amazons fighting, and WW fighting. That was really cool.

I don't think I will see it anymore in the cinema, just wait for the BluRay. I mean, I got the story the first time, and it was impactful. It was still impactful and emotional, though.

Ok that is awesome indeed. And I loved that Patty let him choose his wardrobe. THAT is how you do representation of other cultures, Hollywood. Take note.

Steve's Not Howling Commandos were the secret weapon of this movie. Great supporting cast.

Exactly. The final scene takes place in the modern day, after the events of BvS. I recall she also says that fighting for mankind is less important than being a force for love, or something akin to that. We simply don't know what she did after the events of World War One. My guess is she could have just remained in the background during this time. But the ending, set in the modern day, ends the film on an optimistic note. She's back in costume and saving the world.

Everyone really brought their A-game to this film. From Connie Nielson to Robin Wright and every single background Amazon.
Patty really went in directing everybody to push the limits of what "background character" can do.

Interesting side note not related to my first point... how do you guys think Joss feels seeing as he was so close to making his WW and everyone's reception of Patty's being so overwhelmingly positive?

I think even Joss knows that the WW film he would have made in 2016 would not have been the WW film he would have made over ten years in the past.

Not exactly my point. I'm just saying it must kind of feel like a missed opportunity on his part. Maybe on some very Freudian level it there might be some jealousy. Maybe feeling even Patty made something better than he ever could? Idk just speculation on my part, really.

Considering he gets to play with Wonder Woman the character in the additonal photography on JUSTICE LEAGUE, I think Joss will scratch that itch.
