300 intel drones lit up the LA sky to celebrate the WB Wonder Woman DVD release party. :D :D

That was so cool! It's like a firework show without the 'splosives. :woot:

Now, this is what I call "Innovative Marketing" ! :woot:

Now that is awesome

Holy crap. I live in downtown LA and could've just looked out my window...if I'd only known. Fist pumped at sky asking Zeus: Why?!?

(Amazing move, WB!)

Hai all,
I'm a newbie & this is my first post.
I'm so glad I found this forum & have opportunity to express my opinion about Wonder Woman (2017).

I'm from south-east-asia btw so please pardon my english.

It's been 3 months since I watched Wonder Woman and I can't get this film out of my head.
I have watched and read so many reviews about WW, good reviews, bad reviews, all kind of reviews just to get this film out of my head but still can't. Finally, I found this forum.

I love this movie.
Logically, I have some problems with this film,
I think the third act against Ares could have been edited better, I don't like how they cut from the primary fight scene to another scene,
I don't really like the dialog between Diana and Ares, it doesn't really make my sense,
I think they could make Ares's twist more dramatic if Sir Patrick's was actively involved in the making of two main villains,
But that's my simple logic and personal preference as audience.

Despite all that, I still can't get this film out of my head.
I guess I've already emotionally invested and enjoy this movie.

Why I love this movie?

The scene in themyscira, the amazonian warrior, that's the first time I ever saw battalion of strong women marched forward against well-equipped army. That scene was impressive.
All this time I watched scenes of strong women fight against men, I can see they aren't really strong but the choreography made them seem strong. These amazonian not only looked intimidating, they also looked furious.

And then Gal Gadot, her portrayal of WW was amazing.
I like this version of WW. She IS wonder woman no doubt.
She was very charismatic and radiant, not all actors can have that kind of charm playing characters.
The charm make us like WW and sure about her even if she's not perfect (both as WW or her acting skill).

About WW,
In south-east-asia, WW was far from famous.
The only portrayal of WW was Linda Carter's version (and most of millennial generation in SEA doesn't have a clue about WW).
What I remember from that version was skinny warrior with big boobs, bikini and shorts. The reason I wanna watched that WW was to see boobs.
The comic version portrait of WW also showed big boobs and the animation version of WW wasn't widely broadcasted in SEA, so our general image of WW was a woman with big boobs, wearing bikinis running around in cheesy gesture trying to save people.
In the other hand, we saw lots of women action-hero in movies that was cold, distanced, distrust men, somewhat arrogant, very independent, loner type yet sexually very appealing (and also inviting).

I understand why many fans initially thought of Jaimie Alexander, Gina Carano or Rhonda Roussey for this role. They want male-oriented, man-appealing version of female-hero.

But this version of WW was opposite of all those. Thanks to Zach Snyder for great casting choice of Gal Gadot (I can see how useful her not-enough-big-boobs to change the image of WW) and to Jenkins for her great vision to portrait WW without making her some kind of sexual object for man - at least not for me.

Also, great respect personally for Gal Gadot.
Many underestimated her, doubted her for this role. I so remember that Campea person's commentary of her posture and acting skills. But she didn't attack anyone, she just keep smiling, work hard and try her best. It paid off now.
That quality supports her portrayal of WW, a warrior that never need to insult anyone to make her look good.

The chemistry between Diana and Trevor was so good, imo better than love-chemistry in any other superhero movies. I like the pace, I like the tone (even though I have no problem for BvS tone), I like the plot. I like the score.

My only problem was my previous comment, the suppose-to-be climactic battle didn't really feel climactic due to how they cut scenes and the dialog left some questions about future world wars (but I won't discussed it in here cos you guys already discussed it a lot).

WW is a very hopeful movie, it brought light and new spirit to DCEU.
I like MOS but everytime I watch MOS I always remember and compare it to Avengers and Thor. I try to like BvS, I try a lot but I can't find a good reason for it. BvS was very heavy, it required you to think and analyze deeply but when you did, you will find many plot holes. Suicide Squad? Well the 'suicide' word explained everything.

About Marvel, I like most of Marvel's movie but I grew tired of them that I decided not to watch Spiderman Homecoming in theater. They have the same flow, the similar reason, the same atmosphere, some superhero showed up in other superhero movie, nothing seems so special anymore. I come to watch Marvel superhero only to see what new special effects (my eyes enjoy the view, I'm logically pleased, but it didn't make me emotionally invested).

And came along WW with fresh air, less-cynical heroine, determined to deal with problems not related to herself (not redemption of her own fault, not trying to prove herself, not arrogant insulting everyone).

So I love it and can't get it out of my head.
I hope by sharing in this forum I can finally move on (and can enjoy Thor Ragnarok).

Thank you all.

Hi - and welcome :yay:

I agree about the third act of Wonder Woman - it's the only criticism I really have of the movie.

Hope your post does indeed help clear your head a little so you can enjoy Thor: Ragnarok!

I just saw Wonder Woman and...

That No Man's Land scene almost made me tear up because it was so beautiful.

Gal Gaddot is so charismatic.

I love the whole Superman 78 mixed with Raiders of the Lost Ark vibe the whole movie was giving off. Really felt like 70s/80s old school film making.

What the **** was up with that Ares reveal? Why bother putting him in the helmet and the getup if you aren't going to CGI his face or put monster makeup on him? An old British dude with a mustache is not going to look scary when you put a helmet on him, he's just going to look comical. I am baffled by that choice.

Other than that... great movie.

Bought this in 4k yesterday. Haven't had the chance to watch it all the way through yet, but I did pop it in and play about ten minutes and it looks amazing on my 65 inch TV.

I had only seen it once in theaters after a few drinks so my memory of it isn't as solid as I'd like, so I'm very pumped to give this a rewatch. I loved it on my first viewing and I'm excited to see that No Man's Land scene again.

I agree...

David Thewlis is a favourite of mine but I did find that whole Ares reveal a let-down (plus I can't be alone in having guessed it already). I get that they wanted to steer away from the obvious choice (Huston) to a supposedly far less obvious one, but it could have been done better. That and the third act battle are really the only parts that I had any problem with. Otherwise I thought it was fantastic.

Hey, he looks familiar. Though for a moment, I thought it was me! The resemblance is just uncanny!:o

I wonder how many times he'll watch Wonder Woman compared to MoS..?
