All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion

I actually want a WW who is challenged in her assumptions and world views as much as she is trying to change the world as well.

Let's be honest... The Amazons have a world view an philosophy that only makes 100% sense when you ah supernatural forces (I.e. Olympian intervention) helping you out. I remember a Phil Jimenez issue where Diana is giving a lecture at a college or the like and she gets challenged by a student that basically says "Sorry, but you, the perfect royal princess from the magical island peddle these simple solutions and world view but you really have zero idea about what life is really like for the rest of the world and the mortals that live in it". Diana had a come back that boiled down to, "If the views I have can only be for people like me then this truly is a terrible world, but I choose to believe differently." Fair enough... But I actually think that the student had a better point. I really liked the scene in the WW DTV where Trevor lays out the myopia of the Amazon's approach to the world. I'm inclined to want to see similar stuff in a live action film.
I'm always like this when I see your posts... :atp:

Would people want to see an Amazon language? Have them speak a totally fictional tongue or perhaps some real Ancient Greek dialect?
Actually The creator of MOS language will come back for BvS. Amazonian Language? YES FTW!!!

Thanks John. We don't always agree on stuff, but I love your good natured enthusiasm for these various DC projects.

:highfive: Hope I can transmit some of it to you :p

Ha. Hey, I am overflowing with enthusiasm for the DCCU.

I kinda feel like now I have to say I don't necessarily believe the latest rumor, but...

If true, on one hand I love the idea of the big-screen WW being immortal.

On the other, I don't know what I think about her roaming about in man's world off and on since at least the 1800s...(if the rumor about a 1920s WW movie, then 1940s WW film, then modern era movie is true. If, if, if).

In her classic origin, I found it intriguing that Diana was basically trapped on the island growing up, forbidden to leave. Then Steve Trevor crash lands and changes everything. Basically it's her first huge coming of age moment. Which leads to Diana's first outing into man's world--with Steve. I don't necessarily want her as doe-eyed and naive as Perez wrote her in his first issues--and I def don't think she will be in these upcoming movies--but I would like to see her first foray into the wide world. That was a big piece of her origin, IMO.

See I DON'T want Steve to be her BIG reason for leaving. I've never been fond of the idea that she left the island, because of a man. Especially not the "love at first sight" stuff from her earliest origin. Give her a better motivation to go out into the world than just a guy.

Zod or Superman? But that would also be her motivation for leaving. I wait for the feminist movement to hate this. :woot:

It's like if Superman stayed in Smallville. Her motivation to leave is because she can do more good and have a greater impact in the world.

I understand what you're saying. WW doesn't make huge life choices because of, or for a man. I get it. Btw, some more modern interpretations, including official screenplays commissioned by Warner but never made, have Diana saving Steve by taking him away from the island because the Amazons were going to kill him--no men allowed means no men! lol

I'm wondering now if Bleeding Cool's story has merit. Specifically I'm curious if MacLaren is the director who pitched the 1920s idea, if indeed that rumor is true.

Her motivation wouldn't be even Superman specifically. It'd be more like what his emergence could represent. He shows up, and then a group of alien soldiers arrive and try and destroy the world. The Amazons could look at this an consider what the implications could mean for them. Could it effect their way of life (for good or for ill)? Could it be a potential threat? Might it lead to them being discovered, etc? Not just aliens, but metahumans and supernatural beings as well.

I know its been theorized many times before...but I'm really thinking that other meta-humans like WW and Aquaman were helping out in the Zod attack. Maybe in BvS we'll get flashbacks showing SM seeing with his super-vision many Amazons fighting Kryptonians and protecting humans in Metropolis, freeing SM to focus on Zod, and before that Atlanteans doing the same in the Indian Ocean.

We know exactly nothing about this verse post MOS, except that Clark got a Daily Planet gig...we don't even know what the headlines were in the days/months following the attack. It's like a clear slate.

There weren't any kryptonians on Earth aside from Zod in Metropolis. Faora was in the air in a little period of time. but every kryptonian was on the Black Zero.
I can see Wonder Woman maybe helping in the surroundings of Themyscira or another side of the planet and Aquaman helping all the ships when the sea was being modified by the World Engine.

Please... By Hera and all the Goddesses... Give us some NEWS!!!

I've been thinking about this... If Wonder Woman's home Paradise Island is on "another dimension" but inside Earth. I wonder with all the PZ mess... she would end up there...

Two things... with no purpose in her life...

Diana would help her and she becomes an Amazon.
Or she would likely unleash her fury against Kal-el and Earth.

Other possibilities would be that Brainiac take her from the Phantom Zone or that she ended up on Apokolips and brainwashed by Darkseid or sort of deal with him and becames a Fury or the Commander of Apokolips army.

Not sure about Paradise Island being inside some kind of pocket dimension because that would mean it isn't really on Earth. It would raise more questions like why would the Amazons care about Earth if they have their own dimension. I rather they stick to some kind of magic barrier. It's just much neater to say they're secretly out there.

How about mix both your ideas and say the explosion was unstable and sent some Kryptonians to the Phantom Zone and a few got lost in other dimensions. For a faction of time, the black hole/singularity in MOS acted like a boom tube and Faora got sucked into Apokalips. Then she gets recruited by Granny Goodness, and Darkseid makes her into one of his best soldiers, kind of like what he did to Supergirl in the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse animated movie. Or she could end up somewhere else, but I would rather Faora remain a villain if they keep using her.

Yep I agree... but the "boom tube" or interdimentional travel would likely be possible (less possible than the others of course)

Oh yeah!!! YES!! That's what I'm talking about... I want to see her as a Fury or something much much higher (even Stephewolf militar rank) :hubba

Do ya'll think we get a scene of her actually fighting Superman?

I bet she will trust him right away.

I don't know Sam... I mean, I could see her acting as the bridge between Superman and Batman in BvS. I could also see her essentially coming in and literally knocking those guy's heads together to get them to see reason too.

So with the current adjustment in the 2017's schedule with Spider-Man, GOTG2, and Thor crowding the first three months of the summer season, I'm hoping WB moves Wonder Woman to August. There's nothing there as far as I know. Wonder Woman in August, then JL in November.

I was always for Wonder Woman having a spring release date, since a lot of blockbusters are doing well in the spring period.

Off topic, How about Disney's Olivia Holt as Wonder Girl {Cassie Sandsmark}?

Thor's not in the summer season, it's in November. I think the bigger competition issue comes from the animated movies honestly in it's current spot. It's currently sandwiched between Toy Story 4 and Despicable Me 3, both big money makers. Perhaps, if Fantastic Four fails, taking the sequel's spot on June 2, giving it two weeks before Toy Story 4 would be a good spot. Or August, as you suggested.
