babs tarr variant for Justice League #39

This shield may be very similar to WW's shield in BvS. I remember hearing it's main color will be black. I also love all the stars on this shield. What (IMO) didn't work on her skirt looks great on this shield.

Plus, the suit is basically Gal's. Perhaps DC is throwing a bone in some small way.

It's not unusual for a film to shoot 18 months to 2 years before release date, Pirates 5 is shooting now for a 2017 release, same with Tarzan, Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow, Alice in Wonderland 2 etc I guess they don't want Wonder Woman and Justice League to overlap as the latter will shoot in 2016 likely after press has been done for Batman v Superman

And it'll lead into next year, I'm guessing. Then she'll have to film JL. She's got a busy year.

I imagine they'll be a gap so that she can do press for Batman v Superman then they'll shoot JL in the summer.

Will that mean casting news will come sooner than later?

Will the official scriptwriter be revealed?

And the official characters included in the solo movie.

I imagine casting will be announced around summer time as well as the synopsis.

SDCC reveal of the cast, I'd bet.

Michelle MacLaren has been doing Better Call Saul. I wonder how that factors into the development of Wonder Woman.

I suspect MacLaren won't be actively involved with season 2 of BCS as she was with season 1 due to Wonder Woman.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure MacLaren has really nothing to do with Better Call Saul other than directing the second episode.

Pretty sure she isn't a producer like on Breaking Bad.

I don't really believe the trilogy or 1920s rumors at this point. The BC article said it was a greenlit treatment and then published the article about WW not being greenlit so they contradicted themselves. I would think DC would want to see how WW performs first before committing to a trilogy right away.

I doubt the 1920's rumors or trilogy rumors as well.

I think it's obnoxious and unprofessional that those rumors keep being reported in stories about the project. Listen if they are true they are true and I will rant about it if they are but there is literally no decent proof right now. Give me something real and then I will take those rumors seriously.

It makes we wonder how they're going to handle the solo movies. Will it be connected to the JL story line or will the be more standalone stories.

Personally, I would want a full-on origin, but I know some people are sick of origins.

We're sick of origins we've already seen a dozen times. Seeing Krypton explode or Bruce Wayne's parents getting gunned down or Peter Parker being bit by a spider... they just aren't needed anymore. We get it. All of us, or at least a good majority, know the deal.

But WW has an origin worth exploring. Aquaman has an origin worth exploring.

Yeah, we forget that the origin is key into getting the viewers engaged with the character. As Sawyer pointed out, familiarity breeds contempt but the vast majority of potential viewers out there have only the vaguest idea about where Aquaman and Wonder Woman come from, their true modus operandi ect. So those are good reasons to have the origin told to the mass audience.

Agreed. Actually truth be told, for solos I'm most excited about the WW and Aquaman projects. Uncharted territory for superhero films. The mythos alone for both can, and better be epic.

As pointed out, a 1920 storyline depends on execution. Have no idea if it's true, but I do favor a period piece since Diana is immortal. Unless they do time travel, few other DC characters would even work in the past.

Agreed. Origin stories themselves are not the problem. It's just that, with certain characters, we've seen their origins over and over and over again. Everyone and their grandma knows at least the basics of Batman's origins, or Superman's, or Spider-Man's etc. Also after Batman Begins, I never want to see Batman's origins story play out on film again, that movie was such a fantastic representation of it. And then there are other characters who's origins just really aren't interesting enough to take up an entire film.

But there are other characters who's origins either aren't well-known, are really interesting, or both that I COULD see making for good movies. For instance, the first Iron Man movie was essentially an origin film, but I still loved it since they did something new and interesting with it. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, etc. These are characters with interesting origin stories that I WANT to see play out onscreen.

My input on this would be for those characters with not so interesting origins, then allow for 5 minute montages or a monologue to explain the origin.

The list of heroes pointed out are the only exceptions to the origin story topic, because most of them are unknown to the general audience and have rich mythology to explore in a movie.

I'd like to add Shazam to the list of heroes, that have an interesting origin and can make for a good movie.

If DCCU Steve Trevor is in the same age range as Gal, then wouldn't he be a Major, since it would make sense.
