The Dark Knight Rises Alleged "Batman 3" News from Members of Production Team

Believe it or not... but this is what I was told at a film related event this weekend here in Chicago and I won't say which one because I don't want to get those who shared this into trouble.

They go into pre-production in February to shoot next summer.

Depp is involved. They say as "The Riddler".

The people I talked to were involved in production of "The Dark Knight" here in Chicago and as the film community here is small, most of this community is retained picture to picture.

I think there is much more done in terms of a script and story than the brothers Nolan and Goyer are letting on right now and that makes sense... why would they give it away that they have more ready to go so early in the game? They've always kept details secret.

Do I believe them? I said that the "Depp as Riddler" thing has been done to death on the internet, and I wondered if it was where they heard it but they insisted it was true.

I'm feeling pretty doubtful about that. I don't see the film going into production in February to shoot for summer, since Nolan's gonna do at least one movie between Dark Knight and Batman 3 (if he is in fact doing it, he hasn't confirmed yet). I believe he's doing a movie called 'The Prisoner' next.

Him doing 'The Prisoner' remake is old news and I doubt it's even going to happen now. They're already remaking The Prisoner as a TV show so there's really no point in doing a movie.

I didn't know they were remaking it as a tv show. You're probably right about Nolan not doing it anymore.

So I was reading a batman book and it suddenly hit me.. Johnny Depp could play the riddler so i talked to my friend and he said ya that would be cool so i think its pretty much confirmed.

Depp does look like he's booked but we don't know exact dates of when the projects will start production.
Gore Verinski (assuming he'll do POTC4), is scheduled to do Bioshock... so POTC will most likely start after the third bat flick is out. Depp is also filming Alice in Wonderland right now so that's fine. But He's also set to star as Tonto in The Lone Ranger remake which will probably be out within the next 2~3 years. It does seem like he'll have room to shoot a batman flick IF he's cast.

I don't know about casting rumors[speculative rubbish at this point], but I do remember reading a Goyer interview where he stated that the treatment that he and Chris came up with was over a span of two movies. It's possible that Jonah wrote one half of the treatment (which Chris checked and revised), and immediately started working on the follow-up.

I highly doubt this film will see a release date prior to 2011. Isn't Nolan doing a 'Prisoner' film?

Depp has recently signed on for another Pirates film....but I didn't hear about a three picture Disney contract? Interesting....

I would have thought Nolans next film would be The Prisoner, but it would not surprise me in the least if the Nolans and Goyer have a treatment set for the 3rd Bat film already.

Depp can find time to be in any film he wants to be in as far I'm concerned. If he wants to work with Nolan and vice versa, and if he likes the script and characterization.....well...we shall see.
