So...Jett's sources essentially tell him Chris Nolan might direct a third Batman movie and that talks on it will eventually gear up...and he considers this news because...

Believe it or not... but this is what I was told at a film related event this weekend here in Chicago and I won't say which one because I don't want to get those who shared this into trouble.

They go into pre-production in February to shoot next summer.

Depp is involved. They say as "The Riddler".

The people I talked to were involved in production of "The Dark Knight" here in Chicago and as the film community here is small, most of this community is retained picture to picture.

I think there is much more done in terms of a script and story than the brothers Nolan and Goyer are letting on right now and that makes sense... why would they give it away that they have more ready to go so early in the game? They've always kept details secret.

Do I believe them? I said that the "Depp as Riddler" thing has been done to death on the internet, and I wondered if it was where they heard it but they insisted it was true.

We shall see...

I'm not buying the Depp as Riddler thing.. not yet

As much as I would dislike it, Depp is a high enough status actor to shoot whenever he wants.

Im sorta hoping this production rumor (im kinda 50-50 on depp) is true. 3 years was LONG wait for & knowing that the same production team is involved im sure the movie would not lack quality or be rushed just to get a quick payday

I'd Say Pre-Production all next year with Shooting happening 2010 for an 2011 release.

I'm inclined to believe that preproduction work could be commencing in February. This will most likely be in the form of location scouting. If the Nolans and Goyer have any kind of outline or idea of what they want, then I don't see why work can't get started in 4-5 months.

I'm less inclined to believe that a production crew would know anything about casting. It's like trying to get reliable info on the new Camaro from salesmen at dealers - they don't get privelaged information so they guess based on unsubstantiated rumors.

If that were the case i would expect an announcement soon. it would take way longer than usual to film it. The entire thing in imax would be too expensive and too time consuming.

Yeah, the apparent early starting date for filming is what made me think of the IMAX thing. But in terms of how much it would cost, it seems unlikely.

Exactly. But who knows?!?!?! its possible that nolan has been working behind the scenes getting ready for shooting the whole thing in IMAX. Which would more than likely make it the biggest production ever.

That's on schedule with where TDK was, correct? The Ledger casting news came right around the Oscars in 2006. I remember talking about with my gfriend at the time while we were at an Oscar viewing party.

EDIT: Nevermind, that news didn't come until the summer. I confused that conversation with another party at the same place around the time of Heath's casting.

A couple days ago, I started a thread about Depp's new commitments, (Pirates4, Lone Ranger, Mad Hatter...among others) AND with those commitments in mind, WOULD he ever have time to even consider playing "The Riddler."

I think Depp would make the time. WHO wouldn't want to be the Riddler??

The Madd Hatter is suppose to be a cameo (or mocap), the Lone Ranger shouldn't take that long to shoot (sounds kinda lame to me), and Pirates4 has a tentative release date of May 2011. I think Depp could squeeze it in if he really wanted to. That's if Nolan really wants him.




BTW~I got hammered by two board members who questioned and commented about my thread and that the Depp+LoneRanger commitment=The Riddler info didn't belong here in this forum. I had the thread removed, because I thought I had made a mistake by posting the thread, being new here with only a few posts. Now I see I'm not the only one here who had the same thought(s) in response to the recent rumor of the February 09 B3 (possible) start, and the Depp rumor (again).
