Civil War Along Came a Spider - The Peter Parker / Spider-Man Thread

It looked similar to the Raimi suit. It looked more like a Spider-Man costume than what Garfield wore in his first movie. I still don't get your rather extreme hate for a comic book accurate Spider-Man costume.
Because it should've been this:

Everything on TASM2 looks like complete and utter garbage bag juice. From the disgusting excuse for Bagley lenses to that half-assed, droopy ripoff of TASM1 logo. Plus i'm sick of it being shoved down my throat on every fricking CBM news site. It's a smelly bowl of pig slop IMO.

Glad the new suit is going to be 'familiar, but with a little twist, plus CG enhancements.' Can't wait for it to be revealed to wash away TASM2 stench..

I get tht he doesn't like the costume. What's wierd is just how much hates it. Look at his profile pic dude. Then again, idrc, that's his busines.

Edit: O nvm I see, you didn't get what you wanted so you hate the costume for that.

Well.. Here's a mock up of how those eyes might look on a suit:

They look expressive, and it certainly lines up with the Russos comments about the suit having CG enhancements. They also look kinda like your idea of Clank-esque eyes

I'd hate for it to look like that though. :csad:

The only way I can see it working is through Noir-esque goggles:

There's just no need for a homemade costume, he is supposed to have been around for a year, just give him the iconic costume and get on with it, no one is watching a movie about superheroes and going 'hey how did that teenager make that costume' and if they are then clearly the film has bigger problems.

Exactly. Audience members have suspended disbelief enough times already with the costumes in the previous movies; surely they can do it again.

Any attempt at trying to go for a 'faithful homemade' look will just result in something that looks as if they tried too hard, which is what happened with the TASM1 suit and ended up looking horrible in the end.

**Edit: Perhaps not horrible but it just didn't feel like a Spider-Man suit.

Go Spidey, can't wait 2nd trailer ca3cw maybe in january

Maybe in January. I think releasing t2 for the Superbowl in Feb. is a bit more likely, though (Marvel seems to average roughly 3 months between the release of trailer 1 and trailer 2).

Tom Holland says Captain America: Civil War made him '10 times more excited' for Spider-Man

December 30 2015

As if you needed another reason to get pumped for the new Captain America and Spider-Man movies, Tom Holland says the Cap’s latest film, Civil War, has made him even more excited for his own solo Marvel venture. The problem is now he has to wait a few months before filming on Spider-Man begins.

“Civil War will be a brilliant movie, a huge movie and I’ll have the support of the success of that movie so that I can go on to my own,” the 19-year-old actor told The Belfast Telegraph. “It was also a real eye-opener to what it will be like when I start my film. I think the problem with Civil War for me was that it made me 10 times more excited to start on Spider-Man, but we don’t start for months so I’ve got to sit on that excitement for the moment.”

Civil War, debuting on May 6, will see Marvel’s heroes battling each other when the world governments pass harsher restrictions on superhero activity. After making his web-slinging debut in this film, Holland will headline the new Spider-Man film for a July 28, 2017 release.

Holland continued, “I’m taking every day as it comes and there’s very little preparation that you can do apart from making sure you remain grounded and keep the people that are close to you close and my main goal at the moment is to make sure my work doesn’t fall below a certain caliber.”

No one agrees, the asm2 suit was the best thing about the movie

TBH, I could care less for the ASM2 suit design. Yes, it was more true to the original comic design, but it felt like a huge step down from the first film's costume, which I actually liked.

How was it a step down? Do you hate the original design or something?

So we get a comic accurate spidey suit in the last movie yet some are still bashing it? I am confused.

The purpose is to use what we have in the comics to create something more grounded in coloration and whatnot while still retaining key features to make it identifiable as a costume deriving from the comics.

I don't want Tony making Peter anything.

The only thing I can accept is if he makes him that Iron-spider red/gold, extra limb 3-armed suit.

That would be fine, but other than that, Pete should make his own stuff, as when it comes to being a superhero, Peter really is a self made man.

What i dont get is how one goes from extreme praise of the suit to extreme hate.

Well, I don't know about him, but the reason why I dislike it is because the unnecessary recycling of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man suit. And I'm talking about the details like raised/3-D webbing grey webbing and Lycra brick pattern materials. Those elements are not necessarily required to make a comic accurate Spider-Man suit, case in point:

Now that looks comic accurate, looks like an evolution of TASM1 design, and looks NOTHING like Raimi's suit besides the fact that they share the same design layout.

TASM1 creative new design while still retaining elements of the classic suit>>>>>>>TASM2- Hideous rehashing of Sam Raimi's suit with the ugliest Spidey lenses and symbol to date.

^Well the eyes also look pretty similar to the Raimi suit, save for the addition of heavy black outlines

The raised webbing is fine. Without it, the suit comes off looking like pajamas.
