Tony pays for everything and makes everyone look cool. Thats his job. Spidey got the Stark upgrade. Sall good.

I'm curious what people's thoughts are on the latest news of a venom standalone movie by Sony that won't be tied to the MCU, and seems to be because of some bad blood between people at Sony (Rothman as well now?) and Marvel.

This is couple with a response from James Gunn today on Facebook when someone asked him the chances of the symbiote showing up in a GotG movie, he said basically, as of right now, not very likely at all.

Is Sony keeping the rights from some characters from Marvel somehow? Are they already starting to sabotage themselves with this deal?

So far the only Spider-Man characters to have been confirmed to appear in MCU movies is of course, Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Aunt May Parker. I'm not sure if any other Spider-Man related characters, such as J.Jonah Jameson or any of the villains, are a part of the Sony-Marvel deal but I think most likely they can appear. With that being said, I think the main reason why the Venom movie is happening is because of Avi Arad. He was the main guy in charge of the previous 5 movies and now the Sony-Marvel deal puts him in that executive producer role, that is basically has no power whatsoever. It's a known fact that Avi Arad and Kevin Feige do not like each other and Arad is more than likely pissed that he isn't really involved with Spider-Man on the screen anymore. So I think you are right. I think it's something to do with the fact that this deal happened to begin with and just to stick it to Feige somehow, they'll make a Venom movie totally unrelated to the MCU Spider-Man. Which is a complete joke.

I just hoping the venom movie announcement doesn't MCU unable to utilized venom and other symbiotes characters. Arad can go ahead wit his venomgasm only for it to flopped hard

I think a part of the deal can stop them from Greenlighting it, though I think they can still 'develop' it within Sony's wheelhouse.

Extreme flexiblity.

My only gripe with having Spidey in this film is that we'll have to wait even longer now to see him and Hulk on the big screen at the same time.

Sooooooo I've been away and couldn't log in until now.

Just here to say I love the new suit! It's ripped off the comic pages!.

What is the consensus here about it? people love it or nah?

Everyone loves it. Out of all the gripes. CGI seems to be the biggest problem.

It isnt even CGI. It's youtube compression and watching it on small devices where details arent clear. I dont buy CGI problem cause of HD pictures. It should really look much better on big screen.

Of course it'll look better on screen it always looks better on screen. But the eyes movement and maybe part of the face(considering the fact that the jaw moves when he says "hey everyone") is definately CGI.

I can't wait to see the next iteration sequences of Spider-Man web slinging

Oh yeah. Always love it when Spidey webswings. It's such a fantastic travel way.

Avengers: Infinity War

Yes!!!! Marvel did say that Tom Holland's deal is three movies, not including Civil War. Spider-Man 2017 is the first one and I highly doubt he'll appear in either Thor: Ragnarok or Black Panther. I imagine the 2017 reboot to have him be recruited in whatever is going to be the team after the events of Civil War and he'll take a big part in the fight against Thanos. If Sony really wants Spider-Man to make a splash in the MCU, having him front and center in the Infinity War will do that.

If there's one thing I'm looking forward to with Spidey in the MCU it's that most of his action scene won't be taking place at night anymore. The MCU has always been good at setting action scenes in the middle of day so you can see everything clearly. Most other superhero films made it a point to shoot the action at night in order to hide bad CGI or fight choreography.

True. But I wonder how this Spideys bright colors will clash with the night still.

I don't think they'll clash, if anything they night will make the colors pop even more. It's gonna come down to how well they blend the CGI into the background.

I'm betting Uncle Ben was a Coulson type Captain America fan and Peter will remember that when things go too far.

Worst thing worst they greyscale the entire film like Man of Steel...
Oh gosh actually that would be horrifying...
