Well, from a visual standpoint (from the little I've seen revealed in the trailer), it has its moments. I've mixed feeling about the strange combo of cg stuff melding with actual people. The overall color palette is also a little odd for my tastes though some shots work extrememly well, evoking artists Frank Frazetta and Jeff Jones. The fantasy elements are a real turn-off for me, seeing this is based on a real historical event rather than Jason And The Argonauts. Has anyone seen the orignal movie based on the same storry, "300 Spartans" starrring Richard Egan? It was damn good.

I'm guessing this movie is going to suck. I won't even bother to see it in theatres - I may or may not check it out on DVD.

Early reviews have claimed that this film is about 80% slow motion, so it's not like the trailer is really lying in that regard. Nevermind how silly everything is (there's a warrior with swords for arms... am I supposed to think that's cool?).

It's not about slow-mo sucking, it's about an overabundance of slow-mo. And as far as the sword-arm guy character goes, it's not that he was created for the movie, it's that having a character with swords for arms is lame. It's like the kind of "cool bad guy" a ten-year-old would come up with.

There's not that much dialogue in 300.

However, it is probably an exaggeration, but the point of the reviewer (who on the whole liked 300, just wasn't thinking it was a masterpiece) is that it relies on slow-mo far too much, and that most of the battle scenes are done in slow-mo shots.

It looks amazing. I'm expecting and hoping the film can match up to the looks but from experience anything can happen. I hope you're wrong on this.

I think the trailer was very badly put together. I don't know about the movie, but the trailer made it look like it was going to blow.

Something epic and very stylized.....I can really only think of LOTR..that didnt suck...so really if we are going to make early assumptions about the movie based off the trailer then we have to base them on how a similar movie turned out. LOTR turned out quite good.
