As noted by many others, Martin has a nice Ditko style with his art.

Speaking of art did anyone notice that the snow was gone again?

This Issue was awesome! Dan Slotts' storytelling talent showed once again like it always does and I'm loving it. The art was once again awesome and all the action scenes just were full of excitement. The wisecracks from Spidey really had me laughing and it's great to know MJ will be returning in ASM Issue #561. That line at the end, "It's magic, tiger. Come here so I can explain it to you.", had me laughing.![]()
Wait, so MJ is with someone else now?
Sorry I'm a bit confused.
And having MJ back in the comics might be enough to pull me back towards buying ASM.

Another good story. Finally we get to see MJ and can't wait to see what happens when Peter sees her there. Paperdoll imo didn't seem like a right type of villain, perhaps they could have given her some other powers but being paper thin isn't too appealing.
Sucking the life outta the people she wraps herself onto isn't a villainous enough power?

Well my reaction to the last panel (besides how flat and disproportioned the art is) was "Wow! What a stunning surprise...NOT!"

My second reaction was "So, I guess Amazing Spider-Man #600 will be where Peter and MJ get back together again, huh Marvel?" After all, Slott wouldn't put THAT much emphasis on the final panel if this wasn't going to happen sometime down the road, especially considering that MJ is just as much a staple character to Spider-Man as Jonah and Aunt May are. Perhaps their getting married again is off the table, but certainly they're going be a romantically involved in the near future. My guess is they could take a cue from the Stan Lee strip and have the two of them in a long-distance relationship.
This then leads to a third reaction which I'm sure is in the back of most folks who hated "One More Day" (which was just about everybody, including BND supporters): "Something stinks in Spider-Man Land and its not just the brimstone." The fact that MJ is with a guy who, by all accounts, is a arrogant, self-righteous, violence-prone ass, her echo of her famous "Face it, Tiger" line, the "magic" reference in the same line, and her reading Goethe's Faust are not only jabs at the reader but also implies that there's something really wrong with all of this, despite all the wax-nostalgia and tongue-in-check "Stan Lee" style narration that has been going on. Then again, maybe that's the whole idea.

You didn't really say that did you?
ragingdemon155 said:I agree with pretty much everything you said. MJ dating some guy like that, just seems a bit off. Then again, with everyone saying that "MJ remembers OMD", her dating any guy wouldn't make sense. I would like to think there's more then meets the eye to this situation, but that would be giving Marvel a bit too much credit.![]()
Themanofbat said:I'm not so sure why that reaction would be so shocking (I know, I know.. you didn't say "shocking"), but truth be told, JQ and Marvel never had a problem with Peter and MJ being together.... they had a problem with them being a married couple. So with Spider-Man culture having Mary Jane now "fixed" as his girl Friday, it's only a matter of time before they re-hook up in the comics. It just might be a bumpy road before we get there.

OH. MY. GOD. Some of you people are still whining about the JMS-Verse not being addressed?!
Brand New Day has been GOLDEN so far, I hope it's NEVER changes back.
The new villains are great (specially PaperDoll and Screwball, it's about time Spidey has some female baddies), Harry being alive rules, Spider-Man will never grow older than you, give it up, this is great stuff.

If you like all logic being ignored than suuuure.
as for JMS I think wiping out basically all his work was an insult to such a great writer. He brought Spidey back from being crap...He never forced his stories until editorial got involved like what happened with Howard Mackie and company with the clone saga. after 7 years of writing spidey and he gets stuck with the crap that was OMD and all of his work gets disregarded with the new status quo? that my friend....is a VERY messed up way to send off someone who is very respectful of others.
JMS in my book goes down with one of the greats in spidey's history.
along with The clone saga crew and Venom's creators.
all good ideas. but since they were selling marvel wanted to squeeze the crap out of the money they could make. and the creators got stuck with the blame.
Another great issue. Loved that last page, and have never been happier in my Spidey-reading life than I am right now. Thanks Spidey-braintrust!!
Also, did anyone else buy the first Brand New Day Premiere Hardcover that was out this week?
That's an easy one. The way they used magic as a means to skip the logic.
Peter Parker is a man of science.
and he's dealt with Mephisto before. he's met Ghost rider.
He should of known the ramifications that could or probably will occur.
It was pretty poor to say it's magic "we don't have to explain it" since they essentially picked whatever they wanted to throw out and put back into the mix in the spidey verse.
The logic ignored is using mephisto as a means to end "fix" things. I mean this is a chance to seriously cause some damage to the spidey verse. not create a new hero called Jackpot. or bring back his best friend. when it comes to Mephisto all logic was thrown out of the window. and they molded him to fit there needs like they did with spidey and his unmasking
