Andor General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I do like the idea that Krennic is more intimidating in Andor because of big fish, small pond syndrome. Yeah, he can throw his weight around against ISB Supervisors and various other mid-high level imps. But against Tarkin, Vader, and the Emperor? lol

He’s Robert Picardo in Gremlins 2.

Although Picardo had a less tragic ending lol

Excellent. No notes really.

The score in Rogue One was unbearable after watching Andor. Jin's character and arc feels weaker than ever too. Cassian himself benefits so much from the extra material though.

There's a fan edit that edits and rescores Rogue One into a trilogy of Andor episodes. I'm keen to check that out, though it is being revised now the show has wrapped up.
After rewatching Rogue One, I totally agree with this. The score definitely didn't fit the tone.

Really hoping O'Reilly will get the nom. Really hoping they get the directing award for "Who Are You". I could see Luna getting the nom, but man, that category is Noah Wyle's this year. It will be curious to see if they are actually awarded anything this year.

Actually a good note. It would’ve felt like Star Trek when they drop them in to be edgy.

And our world swearing doesn’t really belong in a galaxy far, far away. I actually hated Bail saying “sh**”. It pulls you out.

I actually didn’t mind that. There had already been a few instances of it in the series up to that point, it’s just strong enough of a word to stand out but not too strong to take you out of the moment (imho), and it was at a very crucial point in the story where we know things are headed and having it there in that moment served as a way to get us amped up for what Mon Mothma was about to do. And Benjamin Bratt absolutely sells the line with his delivery.

It certainly got me hyped.

I'm slightly surprised given what they had written that they didn't end up using, especially since characters like Davo Sculdun originally had more to do but ended up just fading away, but it's cool that they could identify all they could do before starting filming. Pretty useful as the show cost a huge amount of money anyway.

I know supporting cast was kind of a packed category this year, but what the hell emmys?

After a lot of starts and stops over the past few years, I finally watched Andor all the way through.

Seeing how the Empire operated without a lasersword-wielding behemoth and a creepy old man shooting lightning from his fingertips in the immediate vicinity does rewire your brain a bit. Strip away the layers of fantasy and it’s just a bunch of ordinary people willing to roll with countless atrocities, spin propaganda, crush opposition, etc. The allegorical aspects of Star Wars was never secret, but it does feel like it’s taken the backseat quite a bit compared to the likes of something like Star Trek.

I don’t think every Star Wars story should be Andor, it loses some of its power if it’s just one of the crowd, but the current state of the franchise could certainly take some cues from the show.
