I just might, but apparently you'll never will. Oh well.

Keep using that dry face. It suits you well.

damn that frustrating news to here from someone with such wit and proclivity for the humorous. dont worry, that bane mask you got on will keep the dust from moms basement from ruining your beautiful hair. onward and upward.

I don't agree with this notion that this is totally unlike Catwoman and utterly unrecognisable as her. My problem isn't that it's so far away from a good Catwoman costume. It's that it's so agonisingly CLOSE to a GREAT Catwoman costume, and it's like they got 90% of the way there only to give up at the last hurdle, leaving out the final detail that ties the whole costume together.

If we HAD gotten the hood with this picture, everybody saying that they love this as is and that it looks better without the cathood or that the cathood is silly would be praising the ever loving HELL out of it.

Which is hilarious to think about.

No one is going to change their mind . The bottom line is either you with Nolan or against him :oldrazz:

That right there just DQ'd you from the debate. Single most asinine post in this whole thing. That is the kind of statement that earns you a "Nolanite" tag.

I can tell you've been out of mom's basement for awhile, huh. Probably got that big job at Burger King down the street. They really don't care how badly you butcher the English language there, do they.

As for me. I wish I was the masked mullet-man in my avatar, but sadly, that is not me. It's Post Office Guy. And his mullet beats your hairdo any day of the week.

Exactly, all she needs is cat ears really, and a whip would be a bonus.

Nolan be trollin. The movie is a year away and things are already this stirred up. :woot:

Personally, I'm expecting a very recognizable Catwoman. I can understand why lots of people are upset at the first pics, but I don't think Nolan would put in Selina Kyle in his last Batman movie and not deliver a satisfying Catwoman. I think Nolan is in tease-mode and he'll keep teasing until a few months before release.

I think you're kidding yourself if you think the general public will reach that conclusion. They'll probably think she's in a cameo for The Avengers, which makes this movie just an ad for The Avengers.

Yes the General audience are morons :whatever:

Then I understood he screen-tested a few of us. He tested on a Thursday, and I think the [2011] Golden Globes were that Sunday. And I didn’t mean to, but wherever I went, I just kept bumping into Chris. "I swear I’m not stalking you. I’m not trying to force your hand. I’m not reading anything into anything." But it was really nice because a bunch of people I had screen-tested with, like Wally [Pfister] the DP [director of photography] and Jordan [Goldberg] the producer — they were all nominated for "Inception." I saw them that night, and they all made a point of coming up to me to tell me how well I did.

So I thought it had gone well, but you never want to get your hopes up too high. And so a few days later, I was back in Brooklyn, my manager called me, and she goes, "Meow." And I was like "Ha ha! Oh no, wait! Really?" And she said, "Yes." And I just celebrated! Celebrated! It was one of the best days of my life.
The suit may be underwhelming for me, but God save me I can't help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside reading this.

Ahem...

There are a lot of straw man arguments being thrown around here today, on both sides of the fence. I was guilty of it myself in some of my earlier posts, and am trying to rein back on it, but it's hard when they're still being tossed AT me so freely.

Are there people here who are saying that they never really liked the classic Catwoman costume and prefer this new look? Absolutely. But just like the people declaring that Nolan has now become Sam Riami and they are no longer hyped for the movie, they are a minority representing the extreme end spectrum of their viewpoint. Much like the majority of people who hate this look are saying it won't ruin the film for them, the majority of people who like it seem to be saying that they'd prefer it with a mask, but that the rest of the costume is great and comics-accurate and may be enough to make it work regardless.

So I don't get this whole notion that anyone who is accepting of the costume has suddenly decided that they like it better than comics Catwoman, or this false supposition that they've decided [INSERT CHARACTER] doesn't need to have [INSERT MISSING COSTUME ITEM] just because [INSERT DIRECTOR] has told them so. You can accept that comic Bane needs to be huge and that his mask is an essential part of his look, but still think his movie costume is cool and Tom Hardy can still bring a compelling adaptation of the character to the film world. And you can accept that the ears are an essential part of the great costume Catwoman wears in the comics, while still giving Nolan and co points for carrying the rest of that great costume over into the film version. It's not a case of either/or, choosing sides.

Here's the thing. I'm going to cut this off at the pass, because I know it's coming. If the rumor pans out, and Catwoman is indeed revealed to be wearing a cowl with cat ears, I'll say it completes the costume, and looks better than having the costume without the cowl. That won't contradict with me liking the costume as it currently stands. Currently, I like the costume, but feel it's incomplete, 6/10 or 7/10. The addition of a cowl with cat-ears instantly bumps that up to 9/10 or 10/10 territory.

I'm explicitly stating this now, well in advance, so I can quote it if necessary. Because I KNOW that, should people currently defending the look say this if/when Catwoman wearing a cowl is revealed, there will be people who try and falsely shape the argument as, "When the Nolanites thought Nolan was doing Catwoman without cat-ears, they liked that better, and now that the Nolanites know Nolan is doing the cat-ears after all, they now like that better. Brainwashed drones!:whatever::whatever::whatever:"

Yeah i work at burger king, so what? The english language is my specialty, kitten. i just feel like typing this way cuz it annoys you to no end. and really, when someone resorts to the "english language" or the "grammar" admonishments, theyve taken themselves down a notch on the debatability scale. You cant stop responding cuz u in love with the abuse. Take it like a man, sweetheart.

I really do sense an air of arrogance. Like "how dare they do this to my catwoman". And "theyll think shes an avengers character". Please. If catwoman is so popular and iconic as some here think, then why the hell would anyone think she would be a damn avengers character in a batman movie? lol makes no sense.

I think it's kind of amusing the folks on website and forum for fanboys by fanboys tossing around cannot like a pejorative. There's an obvious arrogance to posters arguing for the catsuit as we currently see it an air of "how dare you question Christopher Nolan's judgement" if you will.

You kiddies may want to chill with the bashing of each other, lest one of the mods pop up and do what they do.

I really hope she has a whip, otherwise I won't be able to post this song hundreds of times in this thread upon the film's release:

I get what your saying but by no means is it a one way street. just look back at the last page or 2 for examples of it going the other way.

Probably because a good number of the GA is not entirely aware of the difference between a Marvel and a DC.

Oh, so you do work at Burger King? What a guess.

And it's not that your terrible grammar and spelling annoys me to no end. It's just that I don't take you seriously. U kno wat i meen?

Sweetheart? Ha. Thanks guy, appreciate the come-on, but I love my wife.

*dry face*

Haha that would be true except the general audience has no clue who talia is. 95 percent of the population who goes to this movie will have no trouble even if her suit stayed exactly the same as it is now knowing that its catwoman. like I said its a batman movie.

Ok. Put trinity of the matrix(which she looks a little like) IN A BATMAN movie..Is it really a huge leap for people to realize that its catwoman? Thats assuming the costume stays exactly the same as is. lol
Ironically, my statement concerning context, has been taken out of context. Yes, it is quite obvious everyone will know going in that Anne is playing Catwoman. That will be thanks to the fact that she's in a Batman movie, all the marketing will clearly mark it as such, and she will be doing things that are normally associated with the character.

However, my point was that purely taking aesthetics out of that whole machine, when judged exclusively on its own merits -- there is hesitancy in recognizing Catwoman. In this day and age, a few females have donned that infamous catsuit. Kate Beckinsale in Underworld, Sienna Miller in GI Joe, Carrie Anne-Moss in Matrix, to name the most prominent.

Catwoman's modern outfit, as "costumes" go, is tame and indistinct. 95% of it would have no trouble being inserted in any action or heist flick. The crowd will be none the wiser. It is what's going on from the neck-up that tells the audience, "HEY IT'S CATWOMAN". Yes, that absolutely involves the cat ears and (most ideally) the cowl. It unarguably makes the whole design unique. So why take that away? Worse, why replace it with something so goddamn generic as a tech visor? It remains to be seen if this is final, but if it is -- boy, what a blunder.

If someone gave me a picture of Eckhart as Two-Face and told me it was for a zombie film, I'd correct them and tell it was for Batman. If someone gave me a picture of Heath as Joker and told me it was for another twisted Rob Zombie film, I'd correct them and tell me it was for Batman. If someone gave me the current picture of Anne and told me it was for the next Spy Kids movie, I'd ask them why they thought I'd be interested in that, and ask them to inform me when Robert Rodriguez quits making pandering kids movies.

I really hope she has a whip, otherwise I won't be able to post this song hundreds of times in the Catwoman thread:

lol that shocked me. I thought for sure it was gonna be the devo song haha.

We have one official photo to base our opinion of off the look of Catwoman on, and it doesn't look faithful at all. What do you expect the reaction to be? Being the first official photo of "Catwoman," it was Nolan's big chance to reveal her to the public. He chose to use a very unflattering picture of Hathaway wearing a very generic action-heroine suit with clunky googles.

Compare that to his Batman reveal:
Batman_Begins_1.jpg

^That's how you do it. The mood fits Batman, the costume is easily identifiable as Batman, and it still leaves a lot of mystery.

Love that picture.
