She's REALLY playing it extreme, which I like about the overall character of Selina Kyle; she's not crazy and just very on point with her views... and sadly to say it's Marxist/socialist. What I'm LOVING about this dynamic, from what I'm feeling, is that she's going to fall in love with Batman, but not so much for Bruce Wayne at first.
Why is that sad? Doesn't that fit her character? I like it... not because I
am a Marxist/Socialist (though the US is so far to the right that many, some Democrats included, have accused me of such, despite the fact that outside the US I'd be considered, at best, a left-leaning moderate), but because it serves the story, at least from my point of view.
I always got the impression, especially from TDK, that Nolan was all about the middle-ground and grey areas. It'd be interesting to see if, by interacting with Batman and Bruce (specifically the moment when it comes out that Bruce is Batman), Selina softens on her views, recognizing that not everything is that black and white (and I'm hoping Bruce comes to this realization, too).
I do think Selina serves to reinforce Nolan's idea of "The Fence".
It will be interesting if she never warms up to Bruce at all. That probably has a slim chance specially if his true identity is revealed .
She will. It'd be almost stupid for Selina not to, especially after it's revealed that Bruce is Batman.
I think if she finds out that Bruce Wayne is Batman then I'm pretty sure she'll warm up to him on a far more loving and sympathetic level. It would show he's more than just some billionaire playboy, from what I see is the mask Selina sees... sadly.
Exactly.
No offense to you or Doctor Who, but greedy/corrupt American Politicians, CEOs, VPs, etc all practice the act of 'socialism' when it benefits their bank accounts, but then demonize it just as quickly. So, in reality, 'socialism' is alive and well in this capitalistic system. It's just not available to the proletariat.
QFT.
No offense taken! Trust me, I wish I could be the greater all powerful judge of all and determine everyone's judgement; weed out all of the corrupts, greedy people who cheat out tax pays, killers, rapists, etc. I like to think myself an anarchist for the greater good.
It's just sad because I think at the end of my life, it's going to take a guy like me to be a villain to save the world.
As cool as it'd be to turn on the news and see a real-life Batman-like hero, it would also scare me, because it means there's a Joker-like villain out there somewhere. I'm not entirely sure real society could survive a Joker... someone who has
no apparent motives... I think that'd do more damage than the Taliban or Al Qaeda or Hamas ever could.
Haha, same here buddy.
It upsets me that these a-holes are cheating the system and then claiming to be honorable individuals. And then you have these misguided supporters claiming it's a conspiracy theory. I usually have to catch my own brain from escaping out of my cranium through my ears.
"You can continue to listen to this garbage, but I'm outta here!"
Seriously, Dr. Who, I think it'll take a supervillain. It's the only way to shock society out of apathy or denial.
I hope you're wrong, but you're probably right.
Sorry if this has already been brought up but i found these audrey hepburn pics that clearly must've been inspiration to the masquerade-scene in the trailer. She's so classy!
Wow. She was a beauty. And I think you're absolutely right.
Very very VERY good eye sir! I got the impression the whole IDEA of Selina Kyle was from Heburne.

t:
The fact that Anne Catwoman dressed like Audrey Kepburn and is loosely inspired by Hedy Lamarr is complete and utter CLASS. Nolan and Anne are doing a FINE job with her so far; I can't wait to see more!

Man, Anne looks amazing in that pic. We really need more official pics of both Catwoman and Selina Kyle. This is getting insane...
