Annihilation Conquest

He'll be the unseen savior, I bet. While everyone is battling it out, Nova will be off world, taking down the Technarchy's spire and shutting the Phalanx down.

Of course Nova will come into play before the end. Peter has the cure for the transmode virus, and Rich is in desperate need of it. They pretty much have to cross paths at some point.

Nova was rocketing off to the Technarch homeworld, though. I mean they're essentially the ancestors of the Phalanx (which were an offshoot of them), but it was on the other end of space and all. Anyway, I like Nova so I don't mind him returning. It isn't like AC hasn't struggled with some of it's heroes without him.

I'm pretty sure DnA or solicitations or something said that Nova would be back for the climax of AC.

I don't recall that. It won't be in NOVA, because no additional issues of it were noted on the AC checklist. But, yeah, that doesn't mean he can't show up in the AC mini proper. His only appearence was a cameo talking to Peter Quill in the Prelude one-shot thus far.

The cover looks like something off a KISS album plus extras...Suddenly I feel like watching This Is Spinal Tap.

That'd be kind of anticlimactic if this is supposed to be "the other guys' story." Nova kicked Annihilus' ass already. I'd much rather see Peter and whoever's still alive on his suicide squad do the behind-the-scenes work that ultimately wins the day.

You know it's going to happen, though. I mean, that's basically what all the signs are pointing towards. And it wouldn't necessarily mean that Rich is the ultimate savior. I'm sure that once the Phalanx are shut down, Ultron will separate himself from them and the remaining heroes will have to stop him on their own.

Eh, maybe it'll be a bit of both. Like Star-Lord's crew is tasked with the mission of taking down the Phalanx spire and then they're overwhelmed but Nova shows up to save them before "dying." Then Peter's all, "Oh shnap, he's infected! Here, let me give him this cure I've been carrying around for this entire mini-series without dispensing to anyone!" Then Nova joins the others and they all take down Ultron together. While holding hands and singing.

"Dare To Be Stupid" by Weird Al, of course. Then Rocket Raccoon kisses Groot on the nose and Groot is all, "Me, Groot, not kisser! Me GROOT!"

I hate the Groot-is-now-******ed nonsense. He NEVER talked like a small child in the Star-Lord mini. Why is he speaking like one, now?

Because DnA don't know how to write him as well as Giffen. They're good, but we all have our failings.

Well, they really failed with him. It's not like he's a complex character to nail, either.

He's simple in that he's an intelligent lifeform with a superiority complex. It's not hard to get.

Apparently it was for DnA. Although, he's only had one line so far. Maybe they'll write him better in future issues.

Technically, he's had two lines. It just happens that they're the same line.

I want to know Marvel's plans for this "franchise" are. Is another sequel event possible? I wonder if they'd round it out to make it a clean trilogy.

I imagine they'll just keep doing them as long as they've got writers willing to tell stories in space. Eventually, one of the Annihilations will just outright suck or people will get sick of them, and then we'll probably be back down to just heroes on Earth all the time. Oh, except when the X-Men hang out with the Shi'ar some more. So, basically, enjoy it while it lasts.

I don't know. Possibly. He's writing a DC/Wildstorm crossover next, and he likened it to Annihilation in style. I'm quivering with anticipation.

It's Wildstorm, so I couldn't care less. Plus, he said that it it'll have zero ramifications within the DCU.

Yeah, but it'll probably have major ramifications for the WS universe. As long as stuff like Welcome to Tranquility keeps coming out of that imprint, I'll stay interested.
