Ant-Man Ant-Man Casting Thread

Can Rudd act outside of comedy? To me he's just another romantic comedy guy

Rudd does theater work as well as comedy, but the good thing about some of his comedic work is that it is tinged with some darker stuff. I could very easily see him pull off making Hank Pym extremely likeable even if they load him down with all the insecurities/psychoses that Pym has in the comics.

It would be a massive major trip if they're looking at Rudd for Pym and JGL for Scott Lang.

Thoughts:

1. Haha, anyone remember those Paul Rudd rumors from last year about him having been hanging around the Avengers cast at one of the award shows?

2. Wonder if the role is for Scott Lang or Hank Pym? Which leads to 3...

3. The real question is whether they're in the running for the same role, OR if one is meant to be Scott Lang and the other Hank Pym.

well i think it'd be really strange to have JGL as Pym and Rudd as Lang. so, if both pym and lang are in it...

a) both actors are in the running to play pym

b) both actors are in the running to play lang

or

c) Rudd is in the running to play Pym and JGL is in the running to play Lang

of course, the article also mentioned something about there being a possible 3rd casting. they might have been talking about the Wasp. they might have been talking about Scott Lang. :shrugs:

If they wanted to cast Ultimate Janet, I think they should go with Jamie Chung. Or think outside the box and go after Freida Pinto.

Collider.com said both would be contending for the role of Pym.

yeah, she'd be my choice (Chung). kind of depends on their choice for Pym, though (and their relationship).

Collider isn't the source of the news. Variety is. All Variety said was that the two were in the running for the lead character. No more no less. Collider probably just assumed that meant they were in the running for the same character. However, as we know better, the fact that they're in two different age groups means a lot for this casting.

This is my guess. Rudd for Pym, JGL for Lang.

My choices for Janet:

Ultimate Janet:
- Jaime Chung
- Lucy Liu
- Freida Pinto

Regular Janet:
- Emily Blunt
- Olivia Wilde

How 'bout nothing Ultimate ever? :o

It said Rudd and JGL or amongst others those are just the top contenders hmmm ;3 wonder who the others might be?

Rudd all the way

he's got the look and charisma to play this character

and it would be a role quite different from what we have been accustomed to over the years. i haven't seen him outside of comedy & romance movies since Halloween 6 over 15 years ago.

i think he would do an excellent job

I say yes to JGL and Rudd. If either get it, I will be very happy.

Go with JGL.He's a good actor.

I am surprised with Joss whedon doing avengers nobody mentioned the obvious for ultimate
Jan-Dichen Lachman.I would rather see her than jamie Chung.

There were people saying she or amy acker should have been dollhouse lead.
