Ant-Man Ant-Man Casting Thread

These are the movies, not the comics. We have no idea how "small" or "big" a role Lang will be. Judging it based on other sources isn't fair. JGL just gives me more of a Lang vibe than a Pym one, and that's not a bad thing.

I know people were saying Rudd over the past few years would work, and it does make sense if you really know Pym the character. I was gunning for Adam Scott personally, but hey.

Adam Scott would be nice too. Nice suggestion, Terry.

i think Adam Scott would have been a miscast for Pym. but i'd readily see a movie with Rudd as Pyma and Adam Scott as Lang.

While John Krasinski and Simon Baker are my top 2 choices, I'm more than okay with Paul Rudd

You really need someone that can pull it off, because Pym is like the most insecure(while being in denial about it) superhero ever. Even Spider-Man be like, "really, dude?"

i wouldn't describe him as insecure. i think he has a fragile ego. but he's also, intellectually speaking, kind of a braggart. read any of Dan Slott's Mighty Avengers or the recent Avengers A.I. series. and being next to someone like Tony Stark might fill anyone with self-doubt. a lot of people got to know Pym during and immediately after the Fall of Yellowjacket. that was him hitting rock bottom. so he certainly would seem like somewhat of a Charlie Brown. but prior to that and currently, he's as self-assured as any of the other founders.

So that's what Rudd could look like if he gets the part :

Also, some people don't know Rudd actually came up in the theatre and did Shakespeare, the whole nine. His cynical comedic roles are just what he's known for above everything else.

But more importantly...

I did indeed not know that.

I like JGL, but Paul Rudd is an inspired choice. Another one of those unorthodox choices that, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.

Plus we will get to see Rudd on Coco doing press for ANT-MAN. MAC and ME FTW!!

I can see both candidates in the role. JGL seems a little more marketable, but I trust Edgar Wright and Marvel to make sure they have the right actor in place for their film.

Im warming up to the idea of Paul Rudd :)

Finally everyone can stop saying Simon Pegg will be Ant-Man >.> Even tho he will most likely get a cameo xD

The Wire hands down is a classic, very deep, multi layered and very real.

Idris as Stringer Bell was solid. I like Inception and The Dark Knight, but those movies and The Wire and just two totally different things.

I like JGL a lot and have been following him since he was a kid, but Idris is beyond him.

My thoughts exactly. Don't get me wrong, I think JGL's a great actor, but I actually love the idea of seeing Paul Rudd as Ant Man. It's out of the blue, but actually inspiring the more you think about it. Plus, he could fit perfectly well in sharing a scene with RDJ, Ruffalo,SLJ, etc.

I hope Rudd gets it. He hasn't had a fair go yet. He'll be great

I know I'm in the minority but I would prefer JGL for the role but I won't be upset if Rudd gets it.

I wonder who the third pick is.

It depends how Edgar is going to portray the character. I don't think he is going down some of the darker sides of Pym in his movie going by what he has said before but I could be wrong.
Would be awesome beyond words :)
Kyle has actually said he wants to get back in the game, by doing an action.

I mentioned Kyle because Edgar joked about being sad MacLachlan isn't really the mayor of Portland (Portlandia) :cwink:

So Rudd, JGL and an unknown third are in the race? we all know how that will turn out, we know the game by now. they really are negotiating only with the third person (who might be a well known actor and probably the best choice) and are throwing two other random actors into this negotiation vie Deadline, Variety etc. to get a better deal (Look, if you don't want to play this role for xxxx $ and sign a 20 films contract, Rudd has told us he would do it and we hear JGLs agents are very willing to come to an agreement too). It happens all the time, especially if there is a 'third unknown actor' involved, you can be sure that this is the person they really want.

I don't think Chris Pratt was even on the list of actors who were rumoured to of auditioned for Star Lord in the press and he got the role.
