Any new "Y: The Last Man" news?

Come on, it's a no brainer. An high concept which could be done on a Lost episode budget.

Alicia Keys? Bleh.

Tracie Thoms wouldn't be a bad choice, one of the women from the second group of girls in Death Proof. She has the ideal look for Agent 355 in that film.

Christ, hearing that producer's wishlist for the role is cringing. I am hoping to god DJ uses much more tact in casting.

Tracie Thoms absolutely is the best candidate I've heard so far. Though she's not much of a name and isn't all that appealing looks-wise, so she might be out of contention solely because of it.

I'm still hoping for Gina Torres

As far as DJ is concerned he is, but dont think its official on paper.

Guess? No.

Running? To buy the first trade? Yes.

Really? It's that good? I've heard from a few people that it's decent best but now after looking up a few things about Y it's a definite purchase for me.

IESB took part in a Q & A with DJ Caruso a few days ago. "Y: The Last Man" came up at one point.

Q: So Y The Last Man is going to happen?

DJ Caruso: It's probably going to be happening, yeah. With New Line now part of Warner Brothers, Warners is now very high on the project. And Carl Ellsworth and I are probably going to deliver the script to WB/New Line by next week.

Wow, if they get Shia to do this movie it'll bring in a lot of people = $$$

No Shia. Please, just no Shia. He doesn't resemble Yorick at all :|

Yorick's a white, doofy teenager who manages to get through life and girls with charm. I'm sorry, but that's Shia. Unless he's hideous and/or fat, I don't really think capturing a close rendition of the comic book Yorick is all too important.

I just won't believe it tbh, as I think there's more teenage actors out there that would fit the bill A LOT more than Shia LeBleurgh.

Name them. And, more importantly, name all the ones that potentially can open a big movie and who D. J. Caruso trusts. If Eagle Eye turns into a hit, and I think it's going to do well, there's pretty much going to be no argument against Shia's drawing power as an actor.

I would rather see Sam Huntington get the role...

And Alicia Keyes as Agent 355? No, just no.

Yorick Brown is not a teenager. He's in his early-mid 20's. He's a college graduate. He's an underachiever and somewhat a slacker.

More to the point, what studio exec in his right mind is going to choose an actor that's appropriate to the role and obviously on the verge of breaking out into a star over a complete unknown?

It's not like Y is a really well known property and it probably does need star power to succeed. Preferably from its lead.

I could see Sam Huntington, but I could also see a lot of people including Shia. Ultimately I dont think Ill be dissapointed.

If its Shia then it becomes a PG-13 movie. That simple.
