Discussion in 'Aquaman 2' started by Silvermoth, Aug 10, 2019.
I think most people can relate to this.
It would be nice to see her returm fr continuity's sake.
But it would not stop me from watching part 2 if she wasnt there either.
What is going on? :/
Hopefully, this means we finally get an announcement on Aquaman 2 at Fandome. I feel like it's far overdue.
As far as Amber Heard, I say keep her on. She's in a messy divorce with another big movie star. There's a lot of public mudslinging.
I don't know what all took place behind closed doors between them, but basically it didn't sound like it was good. Also, people were eager to cancel Johnny Depp when these allegations emerged. Doesn't that go both ways? Isn't the lesson that we shouldn't be so eager to cancel someone like Amber Heard either?
Now, you could easily recast Mera. Or you could write her out. It's not like Aquaman hasn't had other love interests. You could make Dolphin a love interest as well. Also, by Dolphin, I mean the character, not a literal dolphin.
Any announcements you’re looking forward to for DC Fandome? Not long now
The next Batman game from WB Montreal, hopefully Aquaman 2, and anything for The Batman.
I sure hope we get some more developments on Aquaman 2 at DC Fandome like who joins the cast of Aquaman 2 or what the plot will be for this film
Me too. I’m sure we will hopefully get at least a title card and one new cast announcement. Hopefully Kaldur
Bit disappointing in the end. It would have been better just to go next year then just leave vague marketing talk like “the next one is going to be bigger”
The difference is, at least as far as I am aware regarding their case, is that she's repeatidly lied and been caught out on her lies - only to then make more false statements. Whilst I'm sure both parties (within their relationship) did and said horrible things, last I checked Depp hasn't made the situation worse by spouting BS. She has.
Any respectable adult would accept that they were half of a toxic relationship and settle, but it doesn't appear that she wants to do that and so is trying to play the sympathy card. I wouldn't remove the Mera character (that would be hard to explain away unless they kill her off, off screen, but nobody is going to want to see that. I vote for a recast.
Have they said bigger though? Even if they have, that's usually the spout, but it doesn't always play out that way. I'd like for Arthur to have to deal with some of the issues Orm was facing though - specifically how us topside folk are polluting the oceans; that kind of business can't be overlooked by the new king, and a scene or two between Arthur and, either someone like Bruce or Clark where that's discussed wouldn't go amiss.
Has Jason Momoa ever said that he would be willing to cut his hair and facial hair for a film? Go back to his Baywatch roots.
He looks badass and it's been part of him for years now but I'm starting to want the actual Aquaman look.
Did you ever watch Stargate Atlantis? He used to have some long (and heavy) dreadlocks, and I can't remember between which seasons it was, but he cut them off at one point - without getting approval to do so. Needless to say, he had to wear hair extensions for a lot of his scenes after that, but he may be persuaded to cut his hair if the role called for it. His hair isn't exactly the kind you could hide under a cap either.
One of the benefits to having that transition between comic and film, is that not everything needs to add up perfectly. Unless I'm mistaken, Oliver Queen and Barry Allen are both blonde haired in the comics, and yet their CW counterparts, and the DCEU Flash are dark haired.
That's fair enough, and it's quite possible I'm not up to date with their case. Well, I know I'm not. I've read articles and accounts of Amber having emotional issues and being a bit ... shall we say, needy? I've likewise read articles from Depp's ex partners and wifes where they've clearly stated he's never hit them. Makes you wonder whether Amber was just too much, and he flipped?
The thing is here, their case wouldn't be remotely this ... enlarged if they weren't famous. Whether they're doing it intentionally or not I don't know - nor do I particularly care, but it was a personal aspect of their lives that's now in the public eye (because the public obviously care a great deal about this).
It's not their internal actions that're the problem for me - that's their business. It's their actions that're drawing in the public on the bases of lies and deceit, and it's for that reason I choose to keep them out of the filming industry for a while. It that means they recast Mera, then so be it. Amber has put herself in this position by baiting and lieing, as has Depp according to what you've said. Why should they then be rewarded for a film opportunity that pays big bucks?
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you for the most part (though I'm an advocate of simply retiring the character, I think it's less distracting than recasting and simply saying "this is the cast, here's a new character" also allows for less uncomfortable questions from the media). She shouldn't be rewarded and in fact you're completely right when you say this has gotten so public that it'd be impossible to ignore and separate from the works. I'm just wanted to make clear that, from what I read, he's not above doing that stuff either, it's seems they've decided to get into an all-out war and this has simply become a circus. Neither of them has much of my sympathy anymore, even though I'm sure both are, at least in part, the victims they claim to be.
The problem is, the Mera character was such a big part of Aquaman that it wouldn't feel right to simply write her out. If she's written out as being away on an adventure then, when you consider how quick these Atlantians can get around, she'd be back in no time to support Arthur in a time of need.
The only way you could have a film without her is to either have her killed off between films, or have her trapped or imprisoned - to be rescued or whatever at the end, but then you'd face the same dilemma if/when Aquaman 3 rolls out.
Well if somehow she doesn't return, you have options. You don't have to recast Mera. You can use Aquaman's other love interests.
I don’t know, it’s sort of his trademark. Very mills and boon type hero look
