Does anyone know if Japanese fans are looking forward to this movie?

i'm sure there are a number of Japanese fans that will see the movie regardless of how it turns out (same goes for fans all over the world). however, i'd imagine that the Japanese fans are just as divided about the movie as the fans all over the world are. that's just my guess though.

Yea my guess is the same.. They have been waiting years for this film since rumors started 5 years ago.. They may not be excited.... but they will see it and are lookin forward to it... this is based on wat I've seen on the net...

Dorky, does your family come from Japan, or are they from another Asian country? Just curious.

they'd probably be more excited about the anime or the spin off anime...

^mostly about goku being played by a white guy and how hair styles are not exactly as the cartoon.

Both of which in my opinion are stupid reasons to hate a movie.

The problem is, again, to most Westerns most anime characters do not look Asian, at all. Are there any Asians who look like Goku? I think this is a cross culture difference between Japan and the West, how they would view these characters.

I thought they might be happy that famous Japanese actor/singer Eriko Tamura has a role in the film?

However Japan is somewhat xenophobic country, perhaps they are unhappy that Hollywood gaijins are adapting one of their more beloved pop culture titles.

since this is a hollywood production, i don´t think most people in japan would expect an asian goku, hope for one, yes, but not expect one. so i don´t think that would be a major disappointment for them since they probably saw it coming. just guessing though

i still think most fans in japan and all asia will still go to see the movie if the trailers look good, so im not really worried about the negative buzz yet

The real negative buzz will start 2 months before the movie release date when AICN will post a really negative review or some kind of leak with tons of spoilers and really kill the hype and buzz.

They do that to all fox films that are adaptations of certain property.

what is AICN? do they really have that much influence?

I doubt any Japanese people care what AICN thinks.

Wow all this time for an odd reason I thought DF was japanese lol

i think i'm turning Japanese...

...i really think so.

There is tons of buzz in japan for this film but it is negative.

Now there's a real surprise...can't imagine why they would feel negative towards a cultural icon of theirs getting the typical western spin...
