Who are irrelevant, being a tiny tiny segment of the potential audience. If a movie is intended to be a niche film, it better have the budget of a niche film.

He wasn't talking about the box office, budget, expectations or the demographic it was aimed for. He was talking about his merits as an adaptation of the source material where people who are fans of the comic (also known as comic fans) are the only relevant party.
