^ Right. If they suddenly tell us Jackpot is someone other than MJ...everyone is gonna be like...WHAT???

And then they're gonna have to expain why someone is going out of their way to look and act like MJ in a disco-uniform. Kind of a weird thing for a person wanting to be a superhero to do....going out of there way to act like Mary Jane Parker while fighting crime...?!!

Maybe The Thing should try that?? "It's clobbering time, Tiger!"

Yea, but you gotta admit it would be a bit more interesting than it being MJ -yawn-.

I remember a few times Pete used the spidersense in that way, the only one coming directly to mind is when he played poker against the kingpin. I'll have to reread that later when I get home, but there was no danger involved, he just used the sense to feel people out. (I really liked that issue, doc strange was priceless)

I thought it was a pretty empty issue, and I'm starting to dislike that "old school-almost campy" Spider-Man, but on the other hand I really like what Guggenheim did with Jackpot, she might be from the Initiative or whatever, she's still pretty much a rookie and I really liked the scene with Menace's glider, it showed that they are really trying to build a strong supporting character for Spidey (especially with the last pages)

but again I didn't like the over-campy Spidey and the hollow Menace who seems too much like any other Goblin instead of not "doing the same mistakes as the green goblin", but I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt (but I'm liking Mr Negative more)

Read it last night and liked it a lot. I'm not a big fan of Jackpot though, every time she showed up I kind of gave it a "Oh geez" Menace I like a lot, and was surprised when the mayor lady got killed, I really didn't see that coming. When I got to the end and noticed Sarah on the last few pages, I said "please let that be Jackpot, please let that be Jackpot" but it didn't follow through. I'm not a big fan of Jackpot, but I like the mystery of it, which is a good thing.

This Menace arc is pretty disappointing to me. I've been looking forward to this arc since I like the art and the design of Menace, but after reading the last issue, this arc feels...empty

The main problem I have with this arc is the plot. It's like the writer tries to fit too much of plots into a 3 issue arc and doesn't focus more on a particular plot. In this arc, we deal with Spidey finding Menace, investigating the spider tracer killings, and mysterious of Jackpot. Unlike Slott's arc where there's a main plot (Spidey VS Mr. Negative) and few minor subplots to spice things up, this arc has 3 main plots! I consider them main plots because they take a lot of pages and not few panels, and as a result, the arc feels incomplete as they end. Nothing about the plots are resolved nicely.

Let's see. Spidey hit Menace and he ninjas away. Jackpot remains a mystery. Spider tracer killings remain a mystery too. Now I'm sure these plots will be resolved in the future, but for now this arc feels empty and half-finished, can barely called an arc...

The first arc is very good and the Menace arc is disappointing...let's hope the next arc will be at least better than this Menace arc

Hmmm... I read #551, save for the mayoral candidate getting killed by Jackpot, not much happens.
Maybe Sara is a friend of Jackpot's and she just used her friends name... I don't seem to care right now.

Mr Bennett continuing to get Peter's name wrong is getting stale... I did not like the movie style eyes on Spidey's mask....
I did like the letter in the back from Normie.
That's about it.

Read it in the store. It looked alright. I was letdown by the whole Jackpot development cause this issue was hyped up as the "secrets of Jackpot revealed". More questions came to the surface, that was it. Finally dropped the series which is a shame. It just isn't for me. I'm not attached at all to this material. I guess I'll continue to read it through the shop.

After what Marvel pulled to get here, I think it's fair that fans want answers right away. I think fans deserve that much. Like I said though, I don't feel attached to this material at all. It's not the questions that make no sense that's made me drop the title. It feels too much like an alternate reality.

The series has actually been solid so far. Not bad by any means. It just isn't for me. It's hard wrapping my mind around the concept of "It doesn't make sense but its not supposed to, its Magic".

When Marvel comics (and especially Spider-Man) were at the height of their cool-ness, they had a very "soap-opera" structure to them. Not in content, but in storytelling form.

I much prefer a return to that kind of format, replete with sub-plots, than the 3-6 issue story-arc format, which is really just intended to maximize trade sales.

I gotta say, I'm torn. I've watched it faithfully, seen every episode, and I'm hooked by the mystery (heck, mysteries). But I absolutely HATE how things turn out for Jack. Last season's finale was almost enough to make me stop watching altogether.

I think you're the only person to say last season's finale turned you off to the show.

Yeah, last night was great. I'm really curious to see where things go with the people from the freighter.

As for last season's finale...I'll try to put it in Spidey terms. How happy would you be if you found out that, sometime in the next hundred issues or so, most of the people around Peter were possibly going to die and he was going to end up as a drug-addicted loser? That after everything he'd done, all the times he'd saved others, THAT was the bright shiny future that had been laid out for him, his reward?

That's pretty much my feelings about the Jack situation. He's always been my favorite character, and last season's finale sorta took a lot of the fun out of the show. It was like, "Well, great. So Jack's gonna go from the selfless guy that tries to protect everyone to pretty much the complete opposite, and a druggie to boot." I already know it's gonna end poorly for him, so it's like why should I bother?

To be honest, the only things that kept me watching were to see how things might turn out for Hurley (THAT went well ) and the hope that there will be more curves in the future.

Exactly, there are alot of changes happening in this series and we will just have to deal with them, whether we like them or not. Personally, I'm excited for these new changes, but I'm also very concerned on what new changes will come in.

MJ exists. She was shown at the end of OMD, but that was the only glimpse of her that Marvel has revealed.

I'm sure there are people who are acting like that, but similarly I'm sure there are people who just don't like the stories (I've actually heard one or two people admit to LIKING OMD, so there's proof right there that universal taste doesn't exist). For me, I saw a number of problems with the entire setup that would prevent me from enjoying it as portrayed, but as an AU tale it's perfectly fine. Since Marvel isn't saying BND is an AU story, I have to pass. It wouldn't matter if the writer of the next issue was Slott, Lee, or Mackie.

And with that, I have to warn you not to assume that where we saw Jack at the end of Season 3's flash-forward was the end of his story. We've seen a point that he gets to eventually...but not the end.
