Comics ASM #549 (Spoilers)

It's blatantly assuming readers are dumb asses.

"Look! We are giving him problems! Look! Problems! You liked a lot of these years ago! remember! Problems! Spidey has them!"

It's like when John Byrne re did the orgin story. Like, every issue was like a cock slap to the face with it's "SPIDEY'S ORGIN HAS CHANGED! WE DID THIS, DEAL WITH IT!"

It's lazy ass writing at it's best and insulting readers intelligence at it's worst.

It feels like it's been ages since Spider-man's had any real life problems, and I don't think it's an insult to the reader who's been picking up the book for the very first time.

Another great issue! Especially loving how seamless the change-over from creative teams feels. They nailed it.

Picking up on a few things from what some other posters have said:

I don't Dexter Bennet is really Menace. The brain-trust have already pulled off that trick with Mr. Negative/Li. Although i've no idea at this stage as to else it could be. But I am expecting Menace to be a younger foe.

Also, regarding the changing of Lily Hollister's hair colour... I don't get it. In all my issues she's had blonde hair and dark skin. But I did notice that in the latest issue Carlie Cooper's hair has changed from red to now a light brown!!

All in all. Loving Spidey. Loving Brand New Day.

Oh one more thing! Anyone else notice how in some preview images Larroca's Spider-Man had the movie costume's raised webbing?? But in the final product it's standard comic version?

Yeah, you're right, but... in fact, in the first issues, Lily seemed to be of "white" origin with a really tanned skin, while now she seems to be more of "black" origin with blonde hair... I think it must be due to differences between the artists...

I do (well, maybe not a NEW reader, I guess, i dunno) because they are being so blatant with it. They are almost spoon feeding us. It's almost like they are in a hurry to show us all the problems that can arise from this new scenario.

Just take your time guys.....if you think your'e gonna stick with it (pleasenopleasenopleaseno ) what's your rush?

I really didn't notice any differences with Lily's hair either, but I noticed the most recent issue was darker then what I saw on the internet, perhaps the colors vary when they're printed.

I noticed that also, I think it was the artists having some fun.

Well, I'm leaning more towards the idea that, while Dexter Bennet ISN'T Menace, he DOES have a working relationship with him, in that Menace, whoever he/she is, commits crime and mayhem and, in return, Bennet can get exclusive footage of him/her in action in order to sell more papers. This of course, sets up a contrast between how Peter took pictures of himself as Spidey and sold them to an unknowing Jameson who then used them to tarnish Spidey's reputation, and Bennet purposefully in league with a villain in order to achieve the same result. And of course, Bennet can't back out of his deal with Menace because then he becomes implicated as an accomplice to a criminal. At least, that's what I think Marvel is shooting for.

That's actually a pretty interesting theory.

I thought that's exactly what they were doing, and if so: Bravo! I would applaud them for finally taking advantage of what the movies bring to the table.

Well I never considered Carlie as being Jackpot, either, since I think that was an attempt by some to try and convince themselves that it's too obvious for MJ to be Jackpot to be true. But like I said earlier, I don't think Marvel is even trying to hide the idea that MJ is Jackpot. Question is HOW did she become Jackpot. And as for the obvious question, it was also obvious that the new Captain America would be Bucky, and that the Red Hulk would be Rick Jones. It was even obvious that "One More Day" was going to be used to undo the marriage and that Mephisto would be the catalyst. Jackpot being MJ I think falls into the same category.

Right, just as Joe taunted us for years and beloowed out with what he was gonna do with the marriage, and some thought it was all just a "curveball"....yet it wasn't at all....and it's just as so with MJ being a superhero now..i think it is pretty straight forward.

I mean, if not, it is kinda corny to have some 'other girl' using ALL her catch phrases and dressing like her.

Absolutely, and that's one of the main reasons why I prefer the movie one over the classic (although the "tick" emblem on the back certainly looks better than some of Ditko's earlier designs of the back emblem.) BTW, Shin, thanks for being my human shield for TMOB "wrath."

Even though I like the "tick" t: I agree it is kind of odd looking. I believe in the first couple of issues of Amazing Ditko drew it as a spider, perhaps he changed it because it was easier to draw. The movie costume is definitely sharp looking.
