The Amazing Spider-Man ASM Blu-ray: Most Wanted Features and Extras - Part 1

The image quality on the Blu-Ray is stunning, but...

Minus the girls in the washroom scene, every other deleted scene would have enhanced the film. Connors and Peter after Ben's death, Connors with his son, Connors huddled in the school washroom, the sewer monologue where he spits at the camera (better then the alternative), Peter tracking Connors....I'm extremely frustrated right now. WTF were they thinking? The anger I felt about the deleted scenes over the summer is starting to return.

ASM 2 may give insight as to why certain scenes were deemed redundant.

Back to the movie, the picture quality is so much better than a lot of movies I see on Blu ray it's not even funny. I would go as far as to say it looks better on my TV than it did in the cinema because I thought the movie at the cinema looked a little fuzzy. I think the 2D image of ASM is better than the 3D image of ASM.

To all those who got the Blu-ray today..

I hate you.

Na, I love all you guys :)

I don't always keep the studio produced covers on my DVDs....I found this one and like it, thinking about using it instead.

I don't think any of those scenes could be deemed redundant because they would have better served the story by giving it more cartilage.

I agree. The film was shot in 4K. :word:

For the time being...maybe. There's a reason those scenes were cut and Webb advised that he did cut them because there were decisions made about the story and some of those scenes didn't fit. I'd imagine that the sequel will address those issues and at that point, the scenes being cut will make more sense.

I'm happy to report that I am guilty of being a double-dipper. I purchased the Steelbook exclusive from Best Buy this morning and also the Target exclusive with the Hero Will Rise disc. :woot: I worked some overtime and had the extra cash and seeing how it's my birthday month...I splurged.

I understand, but scenes like Connors comforting Peter or that touching scene with Peter and May at the end of the film only enhance the narrative of TASM. I think it's a shame, even though it may only be a couple of drops in the glass for some.

Only Sony knows why they have given Spidey silver webs on the blu ray cover. I notice they left the webs black on the blu ray disk itself. Sigh...

I bought the steel casing from Best Buy today. My God, this Blu-Ray is awesome! The special features, which I'm always a sucker for, are absolutely superb. I'm bummed a few scenes didn't play out how they were originally conceived. Oh well, doesn't hinder the quality of the film!

It's a shame though to see that Webb and co really wanted the Lizard to be terrifying/a formidable adversary. The first person shot of the Lizard jumping at the camera, in the sewer anamatic, would have been awesome to see! :(

Really excited for what the sequel has in store for us. Webb needs to do more POV shots of Spidey.

Also, as many have already said, the quality is outstanding. This film was meant to be seen in high definition Blu-Ray. One of the best purchases in a while.

I'm on a budget so I can't go around buying multiple versions and I'm only interested in extra content so can someone tell me which of the exclusive bonus discs from Target or Walmart are worth getting?

Just got my 3D bluray copy today and jumped right into the special features disc to see all the hub-ub...I believe The Amazing Spider-Man wins this year's "Why the <insert expletive> was that scene deleted" award...correct me if I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a reason why those scenes were cut...I can't find any. Frustrating as hell.

For those of you who have gotten the blu ray, which store exclusive is THE one to get? Can someone give us a brief describtion of each exclusive? Also the deleated scenes sound quite awesome. Sounds liek we need The Amazing Phantom Spider Man Edit.

The stunt guys sure had a lot of fun

That's just part of the 'art' making process. You have a large chunk of stone and have to make the right choices cutting things here and there until you're left with this beautiful statue. Sometimes the choice is not so obvious and it becomes a difficult decision but you have to look at the bigger picture..."is this piece I'm saying must stay...is it something that really adds to the end product that hasn't already been said or made?" I guess that decision would be different for each person but that's what it's all about.

I do like the Connor's deleted scenes. I liked Connor's portrayal in the movie overall. Starting out with the idea, being steadfast in ethics - not wanting to rush into human trials, but rushing into them when his dream is at risk of being taken away altogether. I think the final cut has enough to chew on in terms of his values and how things changed in him. But indeed, stuff like him visiting his son and being sympathetic but also aggressive, would've been even better. I'm glad we have those scenes to watch at least.

So this blu-ray blows the Avengers blu-ray outta the water. WHY couldn't we have gotten a 90-min making-of doc on that one?
