The Amazing Spider-Man ASM: Stuff You Didn't Like Thread

Also, you haven't shown any examples of Peter's money troubles BEFORE Uncle Ben died.

The house they had in SM1 was nice, the house in TASM was nice. Peter spoke about going to the hardware store to pick up pieces for the water heater instead of just scrounging for parts. I'm pretty sure that Peter would of saved his money, I feel like you're just trying to find problems with the movie.

Who said anythingabout them having "money troubles" BEFORE ben died?

At least in SM1, there was indication that Ben worked hard his whole life to buy a small yet comfortable & modest home for his family (in a neighbourhood where all the houses look the same... possibly an indication of subsidized housing), and was having troubles to make ends meet on account of his age and inabilty to find work that he would be good at... once ben is dead, there's an apparant struggle finacially for the Parkers... May has to sell the house in SM2, Pete lives in a dive, etc...

And I don't have to FIND problems with TASM... they're right there for all to see...

Listen, you're young, and this is your first big boy Spider-Man movie... and that's cool... you dug it, and I can appreciate that. But I've been into Spider-Man since the time of your parents birth (I'm guessing here), and unforunately, I saw MANY flaws with this movie (except for the fight scenes... and the school fight scene was spectacular), and the topics just speak for themselves... goalpost bending, stolen/bought webbing, Flash's unreal turnaround, quick broken promise to George Stacy, unresolved plot lines, etc... I don't need to rehash them because we have discussed them to death...

I didn't like this movie. But I LOVE Spider-Man.

This unto itself annoys me greatly... I want to like this movie... I tried... but the obvious flaws just rear their ugly heads whenever I try and focus on ANYTHING that I might have liked...

But I can't...

Even in your above statement, you say "I'm pretty sure <fill in the blank>"... you cannot say "you're pretty sure" about stuff in the movie that wasn't touched upon, because I can say that "I'm pretty sure <fill in the blank opposite whatever Jexx think>"... so please... do NOT accuse me of trying to make stuff up when clearly I'm basing my opinions on what I saw or did not see... because I'm not here to start trouble... I don't have to... the movie's flaws speak for themselves.

Having said that, I'm glad you enjoyed the movie for what it was...

:yay:

...My father was born 8 years before the comic was released. And by the way, YOU mentioned Peter having financial problems before Ben died by saying "Peter's always had financial problems".

I think that most of the problems you listed in your post are nitpicks plain and simple. I never said you were making stuff up either, just that you were looking for faults in the movie.

Anyway, we just have different opinions, I honestly don't see why you needed to write out that giant post.

I don't get the fuzz about "Flash's unrealistic turnaround". Bullies aren't diabolical villains, they're just people who are pricks, and most have a softer side as well. There's nothing unrealistic about a bully sympathizing with the bullied person when someone has died

I befriended my ex-bully in a matter of couple days, he didn't have any big turn around moment...

Did your bully kick the ever lovin' **** outta you like Flash did to Peter at the begining of the movie?

If not, then it's apples and zebras...

If so... why the hell would you befriend someone who be so vicious & callous to you?

No he didn't, but it was still against all odds

Flash didn't befriend Peter, he just stopped being a charicature character. He's not eeeeevil. They are not BFFs. And honestly how long do people expect the bullying to continue? I hated how Peter was STILL being picked on in SM3. Jesus Christ man, you're Spider-Man.

Flash beats up innocent people and yet he is not evil?
Wow, that makes the Lizard to the hero of the movie because he wants a world without weakness and Peter to the villian, because he is responsible for the death of two people...

Did you guys seen the humiliation scene of Flash? I think that is a very good lesson of humility, he has understood that he is not the alpha male anymore.

When I was growing up someone I thought to be my worst enemy turned out to be my best friend. To make a very long story short, we were at odds for reasons that were childish and stupid and one day it came to a head. We had a throw down all out fist fight. I'd like to say it was an even match but I lost. Not by much though, ha ha, not by much. Anyway, a funny thing happened. We became friends after that. I'm not sure how exactly but looking back I think it's because we found each others boundaries and also came to respect one another. Also, and more importantly, we learned how silly, childish, and stupid the reasons were that we had for acting hateful towards one another. To this day, 20+ years later, we are still the best of friends. It's entirely possible for me to believe that Flash and Peter could become friends, based upon my own experiences.

I realize this debate was between you and Jexx, but I hope you don't mind that I interjected and threw in that little story. Take care.

I don't have a story like that myself, but I did tell him pretty much that same exact thing (that once you confront the bully using the methods the bully uses (or something similar) you may become friendly) because I saw the same argument before on these forums.

..Honestly, I sometimes hate how adults things your opinions and thoughts mean less because you're still a teenager.

It's not that your opinions and thoughts mean less, it's just that those of us who have past that 'teenager' stage come to understand how much things change in time. I've been reading your posts and you seem like a smart kid. I'm not sure exactly how old you are but as you get older your thinking changes, you have more life changing experiences and you learn a great deal more about who you are and what you want. For you to read what I just said, I'm sure it makes sense on some level but those of us who are older it paints a very clear picture of the changes we went through. The difference between the 20 year old me and the 25 year old me is exponential. And the difference between the 20 year old me and the 30 year old me is beyond calculation.

I understand that actually, I've frequented a lot of forums over the years, and usually when I look back at posts I once made I feel like an idiot or that I was acting like a jerk then. I like to think that I do think things through, however, I know that I probably don't always do so.

I'm 17 by the way.

I never thought your opinions were dumb because of your age... :oldrazz: :cwink:

Considering you're 17, you come across pretty well versed...

I'm 44... by the way... :csad:
