The Amazing Spider-Man ASM: Stuff You Didn't Like Thread

Peter testing his web shooters in daylight without a mask.

Yeah, this one bugged me a lot. The part where he's balancing on his two fingers is great, absolutely spot-on. But c'mon Peter, landing between a cafe and a street walking all over tables, knocking things over and nobody noticing that is, well, a bit of a stretch.

:up::up:

Um, ok. Feel free to ignore me then.

Just don't know how you can continually downplay the Raimi movies and yet praise things like the goalpost scene. I mean if you want to talk about cheese, look no further than that scene.

Downplay the raimi movies..
praise the goalpost scene

???

are you even reading my posts? I like the Raimi movies and I don't like the bending of the goal post. It's just that you were claiming opinion as a fact. :/

@ Jexx

Sorry man if I'm misunderstanding, although it seems like you have issues with core aspects of the Raimi movies i.e the character personalities and relationships as well as a few other nitpicks that for me would totally ruin a film. I guess you like the original films, just not with the same passion I do. Still wish there was a peace man smiley here :yay:.

Something you said about goalposts being hollow got to me more than it should have, onc again, peace man smiley.

I know my tastes are a little different than most, being someone that loves Ang Lee's Hulk and is not a fan at all of TDK but hey, if we all had the same opinions this site would be pretty damn boring.

It's fine. I like the Raimi trilogy for what it is, and when I get a Blu-Ray player I am still getting the recently released box set for it. I just find that Raimi's depiction of Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane to ultimately be unsatisfactory.

But they aren't bad films, the general audience loved the first two (although their RT audience score has gone down, probably due to the SM3 fiasco), but they also loved TASM so far.

I do feel though that it was a bit too soon for a reboot, but not for me. I wanted a reboot, I just think that the audience may of been more receptive to TASM if it came out a few years later than it did.

All the scenes they apparently cut.

I know.

especially in this day and age of smartphones/tablets, etc. no one noticed, snapped a pic/vid, and uploaded it to Youtube??

it's like....this Peter is supposed to be so smart and scientifically gifted, but where's the common sense??

and wouldn't Oscorp notice and say "Hey!! That's our biocable!!"

and if Peter did indeed order the Oscorp biocable from the internet, where'd he get the money to do that? if he used a credit card, wouldn't they be able to track that to his house?

and, you're telling me he can afford the biocable, but he can't afford 2 extra cents to buy chocolate milk??

Normally you don't carry all your cash with you when you storm out of the house mad.

The "realistic" school yard (and I will think that it probably IS realistic... unfortunately) **** kicking that Flash gives Peter shows me that he is incapable of any type of empathy towards Peter... so Flash's "about face" seemed rather unrealistic to me...

There seems to be this idea that Flash and Peter were depicted as friends at the end of the film.

That's just not the case.

They had something in common. Spider-Man (and possibly death of loved ones) That's it. Flash is shown as capable of compassion, because he is...and he will need to be in order to eventually become a nicer person in this franchise.

I challenge you to find someone who is actually capable of giving you a **** kicking, and then tell me that the person who is doing it is capable of compassion towards you....

:whatever:

That's another little nitpick. Peter's freaking loaded in this movie. I'm probably a richer teen than Peter Parker is, and he can afford two sets of spandex, Asics shoes, and special Oscorp webbing, most of which is probably bought online from an account and shipped right to the Parker house. I'd have all of that if I just blew off all my money with some allowance from my parents. I'd have to settle with cheaply hand-stitching my old red Party City morph suit and a set of blue performance tights :o

People are doing online diagrams for how much it'd cost to become Iron Man or Batman -- where's the diagram for Spider-Man? :hehe:

Chances are Peter has been saving money for things for a while. He's a photographer, he needs a good camera and photoshop, which both cost a lot of money.

He probably spent a lot of his lifes savings, smart boy like him was probably frugal.

His camera wasn't that expensive I'm sure, probably a leftover from Ben's younger days anyway.

Well, I mean, he probably spent most of his life-savings on the Spider-Man stuff.

"Uncool! Do you know what these Spider-Suits cost?" Will probably be a line in the sequel...

Just more movie flaws... Peter Parker is supposed to have financial troubles.... no life-savings...

No, not Peter Parker himself, that's Aunt May.

And the financial troubles only really started to be serious after Uncle Ben died.

Peter Parker has always had money troubles... part of the Parker luck that Raimi nailed on the head in Spider-Man 2

For the sequel I hope they need to downsize or something to show the money problems they have after Ben's death. Then Peter can try to help Aunt May out by getting a job at the Bugle.

Did he purchase the Oscorp webbing? I thought he stole it...er, I mean, borrowed it for research purposes. :cwink:

Maybe he got some life insurance money from his parent's death?

Or let's go with the PP has money troubles point then. He could have purchased used Asics at Goodwill or another cheap location like a garage sale. A full-on spandex suit probably would cost a decent amount of money but if he just purchased spandex on a roll or a sheet of spandex it would probably be cheaper and then he could stitch the clothes together himself. None of those are that hard to believe right? I mean, we are after all talking about a kid that gets super powers from a spider.

I'd say there's always another solution to a problem.

yea, cause in raimi's he was so broke he was still able to fix that cheap suit he "made" ....sure.

its not that he's broke. its that spiderman consistently interferes with his life and livelihood. it's not like he was supposed to be on food stamps.

Did you see the apartment he lived in?

Anyhoo, if you read the novelization of Spider-Man, the wrestler who gets his leg broken by Bone Saw before Peter beats him is so appreciative that he kicked Bone Saw's ass, that his brother makes him not one... but two suits per Pete's designs... kinda nifty...

and like everything else in that movie......was a caricature of money problems. the trashy apartment with the pushy landlord. the moped. pizza delivery... but he seemed well fed. had a nice camera. a nice suit for the play. he didnt get evicted out of his apartment despite apparently being habitually late with his rent....i mean, if we're really going to break down the realities here.

and any supplemental information not available in the movies is inconsequential. i shouldnt have to go pour good money after bad to go fill holes. i wont do it with clone wars, wont do it here.
