Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

Well, obviously the Assassin-Templar War extends well beyond just Desmond Miles, so the franchise could certainly continue on with different assassins and different ancestors. And I'd be just fine with that. I just don't think AC3 is going to be the last game in the series; I think Connor's story arc will be fleshed out in one or two sequels, just as Ezio and Altair's were. And if Connor returns, then Desmond should definitely remain attached.

Also, if the thought of an American getting involved in the French Revolution seems too far-fetched to some (it isn't too far-fetched to me, but that's a different historical argument), then there's still plenty of American history in the late 18th and early 19th centuries that Connor could be part of --- including the true birth of the United States in 1787, and especially the War of 1812 (the Stateside branch of the Napoleonic Wars), where Connor would likely become embroiled in Tecumseh's ambitious attempt to unite the Native American tribes in a massive uprising against America.

We know there will be more Assassin's Creed games, that's been confirmed. It's also been confirmed that this is the last game in the 'Desmond Trilogy', meaning after this game no more Desmond. At least not as the main protagonist. Which is why I'm think we won't be seeing Connor anymore either. His memories are to help Desmond in the coming months for 12/21/12. I'm guessing it has something to do with the temples. After the event what good are Connor's memories going to do if it's not going to help them with the 'apocalypse'?

Ubisoft started working on this game immediately after they finished up AC2. From the beginning it was meant to be a three game story. But since everyone fell in love cool Ezio they had to extend his story. A trilogy within a trilogy, trilception if you will. So basically what i'm saying is, this game will wrap up the story with all characters so far and the next games will focus on completely new characters. At least I hope. If they continue on with Connor it will just feel like an epilogue to the current story instead of a new one.

Desmond was completely irrelevant in ACR. There's nothing that says they can't make another Connor based game in which Desmond is irrelevant as well. This being the last game in Desmond's saga doesn't mean we can't or won't get anything else from Connor

If AC3 doesn't develop a "trilogy within a trilogy," as you said, the same way that Ezio did, then I'd certainly hope that the next game Ubi develops for the franchise would be called AC4 and feature an entirely new non-Desmond arc. But unless they've been developing something like that in secret for a year or two already, I don't see that releasing until 2014 or later....seems more likely that Ubi is interested in one game per year, in which case a 2013 game would be more likely to be an AC3 extension rather than a brand new AC4 with a whole new cast of characters.

agreed on all accounts.

Yes, but why would we relive Connor's memories further than what needs to be relived for the apocalypse? They're not just choosing ancestors at random here, they pick the ones who know information that will help them in the big fight, (eg Peices of Eden, Temples). Once they've gotten the information they aren't going to go back to see what he did unless it could help them with whatever will happen next. If they can make it work for a new storyline then, yea sure, bring him back. I just don't want some cheap attempt to keep us playing as Connor just because the French Revolution is so close and they want to explore that.

Well those are just my hopes for the series. Like I said i want an entirely new cast and story for next installments. I'm going to keep buying them regardless, but I really don't want this series to go the route of something like Call of Duty. But who knows, they could have been working on a new trilogy in secret. They managed to keep this game secret for 2 years.

agreed on all accounts.
At least someone agrees with me.:yay:

I think all will be said about Connor in AC3. It's goind to be a HUGE game, we can't even imagine how huge it'll be.

Assassin's Creed III Special Edition Exclusive to GAME
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/...ed-III-Special-Edition-Exclusive-to-GAME.html

I'd be more upset if I didn't know that within 2 months we will all get the special edition exclusives with a Single Player DLC.

I want that flintlock musket. Makes me sad to think that the only way to get it is via an exclusive. I just luh-huv the ending sequence of Last of the Mohicans, where Daniel Day Lewis and Russell Means carried a sheaf of muskets apiece and tossed them back and forth to each other as they jogged along the cliffside --- one of the coolest action sequences evarrr. I wanna be able to do that with Connor.

So I popped revelations back in, and there's no music playing during free roam (after beating the game)... what gives? (Xbox 360 version)

It comes and goes. It's happened to me a few times. When I left the game on with Ezio just blended in a crowd there's was no music for about an hour.

I just left the game on to earn money.

On the subject of glitches: has anyone ever encountered the "holy flying Ezio" glitch? I was on ACB once, and I can't remember the exact circumstances, but it seemed to involve jumping and swinging a hammer at the same time (insert Mjolnir joke, I guess), and next thing I knew, Ezio was FLYING. Honest to god, levitating slowly up into the air....I couldn't do ANYTHING to get out of it. He flew all the way to the "top" of the sky, and levitated all the way over to the walls of Rome. I had to wait for him to desync. But it was....trippy

Yea. Happened to me in Brotherhood as well. I was going for the achievement where you have steal 5 guard's horses while remaining on horseback yourself. The guard moved his horse as I jumped towards him and it just launched me in the air. After a while I went incognito, ut since I wasn't doing a mission I had to quit the game.

Havent played an AC since the original. Will I be able to pick up this game and play it? Or do I need to play the other games beforehand?

The other games provide a fantastic experience that exceeds the first in every way possible. You should play those imo

Yeah, in all seriousness, Ezio's story arc makes AC1 look like a throwback to early PlayStation 1 games. They are literally worlds apart.

And I don't think someone who's only played AC1, or no AC games at all, would be totally lost in terms of gameplay and storyline, but to understand Desmond's story arc, you *really* need to play AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations.

I think ACII on its own is just a terrific game and story on its own. I consider the other two as expansions to that story. But ACII on its own is a definite must play.

These guys are right. Brotherhood and Revelations, I can take or leave them, I don't really care. But Assassin's Creed II, in my opinion, is one of the very best games this generation.

honestly Id tell anyone who has never played the series to just start with 2. AC1 is very skippable and Id recommend going to YT for cutscene edits or read the plot on Wiki

Agreed with everybody else....AC2 is the one MUST-play. If you play nothing else in the series, go with this one.

Whoa so the knife is actually the hidden blade. Did I see that right?

Yea. That looked really cool.

I wonder how the free-running through trees will work. For instance are you going to be able to use the entire forest or is it going to be be painfully obvious which trees you can free-run through.

I'd imagine something similar to the buildings in the previous ACs....i.e., you'll quickly be able to recognize which ones are actual hand/footholds.

Although I think it would be hilarious just to see Connor swinging through the trees and SMACK....(FACEPLANT)....doing his best George of the Jungle impression
