Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

The best part of this is that it's incredibly original. A stealth assassins in 1777 America is certainly a bold move.

I can see the Freemasons and whatnot being interconnected into the story. The more I think about it the better it seems actually.

Thats because it is better. Dont know why some were so quick to dismiss this. This is easily the most ambitious AC game yet.

I dont get all the *****ing about the location/time period. How many games do we get revolving around Colonial USA? This will at least be something unique and different from what we typically get to experience

This is gonna be badass. And I could use a U.S. history refresher in the form of a video game.

Might be a little early to know for sure, but will I need to have played Brotherhood and Revelations to get the full story? I've only played the first two games and don't have much interest in the others. Did the other games continue the Desmond plot line or just Ezio's story?

They continued the Desmond plot heavily, some important moments happened to his move his story along.

Brotherhood continued the Desmond plot heavily. ACR not so much. Desmond was barely featured in that game and pretty much a nonfactor unless you as the player chose to play through his segments which werent mandatory

I hope they do a blur trailer for this game, as all of the others got.

Yeah now that I think about it, his sequences in Revelations weren't really anything big.

I think it's pretty ballsey, but ultimately a good move.

The American Revolution leaves them open for alot of criticism, because you'll get people who will think it's pandering to American sentiments, but it's a time period you hardly ever see done.

The Patriot...is pretty much all I can think of, off the top of my head, that I remember using this time period.

Um, well, I'm a bit mixed. The trailer was good, and I was invested enough in the story to see it to the end, but I'm really not all that interested in seeing another ancestor; I wanted a full Desmond game. I know a lot of people didn't like that idea (and certain users on here can't stand you saying anything remotely critical of AC anyway), but it seemed like that's where the game was naturally headed, and I was always way more interested in what was happening with his story than with any of the stuff in the past. I don't know, I'm less excited about it than I was hoping to be, though I know I'll end up checking it out and all.

Har-har-har..

I really think Revelations continue the Desmond plot better in a way. With Desmond, the major parts only happened in the beginning and ending of the game whereas Revelations dealt with Desmond's backstory and then him meeting with Jupiter. Granted, as you said, Desmond's backstory can only be unlocked if the player wants to, but counting up which really has more depth into the Desmond story, I'd say it was in Revelations. Brotherhood, imo, felt like a game that continued just Ezio more than Desmond.

We've been told that this game will be longer than any other Assassin's Creed game out there, so who knows, perhaps Desmond will be part of a huge chunk in this game during the modern setting.

Last of the Mohicans would be the other obvious one, and it's probably closer in feel to LOTM than The Patriot, but yeah, it'll surely feel like a little of both.

As to those who might find the time period boring: I honestly felt the same way about AC2. I bought AC1 originally, and was mildly interested in it, but the medieval setting wasn't entirely unlike places I'd already seen in dozens of fantasy RPGs, so it didn't feel that groundbreaking. Then AC2 was announced, and I was *totally* uninterested.....Renaissance Italy? Seriously? Couldn't think of a more boring, stale time period at all. So I stayed away for months until a copy of AC2 caught my eye in the bargain bin, and I said hey, what the hell. Then I started playing, and I said, "HEY! What....the....hell....?!?!?" And I've never looked back. Never thought a game about the Renaissance would be even remotely appealing, but I absolutely fell in love with the AC2 series.

Give the AC3 setting a chance, and I'm sure you doubters will do the same. :)

I hope so, because honestly, though I know I'm in the minority, I kind of don't really care about any of the ancestory stuff. I mean, Ezio's story was way more interesting than Altair's, but even then I always kind of wanted to "get to the good stuff", so to speak. Story-wise, it was really the Desmond stuff that kept me invested in AC.

Just Preordered.. Got this. :)

Thanks. Hopefully they'll do a recap at the beginning of the AC3, I don't really care to play through Brotherhood and Revelations.

I'm also a bit conflicted. I think the American Revolution will be a great setting for the game, so I'm excited for a new ancestor. But I also would have liked a full Desmond game. Back when AC2 came out I assumed there would be a third game with a new ancestor followed by a fourth game with Desmond in the future. Just seemed like the natural way to go. But since they've stated that AC3 will conclude Desmond's story, I guess that won't be the case.

Hopefully we'll get some Desmond segments with him as a full-fledged assassin in a futuristic New York, instead of just some little moments like past games.

Is that the steel book case? I would have assumed you'd get it when the game comes out. I don't normally pre-order so early on but if I can get it now I might as well go pre-order and cancel later if I decide to get it somewhere else. You get that at gamestop?

Its going to be longer? Personally I thought ACR was too long. That game just seemed to keep going and going and going...

I agree, but that was only for Revelations. I had enough of Ezio at that point so i was tired of it as it was. Now back when AC II came out, i didn't want it to end.

Dude sweet. Im hoping the collectors edition will come with a steel book case like that. Or if not, hopefully those cases will still be available once the CE edition gets announced.

I know what you're trying to say, but it boggles my mind/makes me chuckle to think that anyone considers a time period that saw the rise of science, literature, art, architecture, philosophy, and diplomacy (and was paramount in the development of the modern age) to be "stale" or "boring".

So what are the chances of Freemasonry being in this? Pretty high I'd guess.

It doesn't surprise me. Ubisoft is really behind the Wii U.
