Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

I bought the collectors editions of both AC1 and AC2, no way I'm passing up the chance to get a CE for AC III. Im preordering that thing as soon as i can.

With this recent news about AC III it got me thinking to get Brotherhood & perhaps Revelations since I haven't played them but I always thought of them as a big expansion titles rather than pushing the series forward since I don't see so much gameplay changes and such and also besides the inclusion of MP but perhaps I'll get it just for the sake of the story alone.

Yea i just forced myself to finish Revelations last night. I mean it wasn't bad, it was just unnecessary imo. There were some neat story elements, but nothing i felt couldn't of been touched upon in another game. If i feel like playing some AC, I'm throwing 2 into the system.

I hope they get back to actually going on Assassination Missions again in this next game. It felt light in Brotherhood, and I just started Revelations, but it again seems missing.

What do you mean? Like the little contracts you could take? I think they are absent from Revelations altogether. IDK, i flew through that game pretty fast.

No like the main mission being: Go and kill this guy, because you need to kill these 12 guys that were in on your family's murder.

I can't wait for the trailer. I'll be closely following this game all year.

Tomorrow the trailer is released right?

This reminds me of when the GTA V trailer hit and IGN had a live stream stream then counting down the debut of the trailer. Good thing I'm not busy in the morning. I don't think I've seen an AC game get this much hype since ACII.

What an astoundingly ignorant thing to say about an Assassin's Creed game. AC has *always* been deep and multi-faceted, and has never played favorites or taken the easy way out in historical depictions. There's absolutely nothing that would indicate this will turn into an "AMERICA **** YEAH" game.

That's a bit difficult to believe when the cover art is of an Assassin stabbing some poor British soldier with the sun behind him and the American flag waving in the background.

Look, I know everyone's entitled to their opinion and there will be alot of people quoting this and getting personal but I do believe only the Americans will find this interesting with only a few very small minority players from here and there.

I wonder how big the European market is to the Assassin's Creed franchise?

I just watched the Patriot. It seems stylistically this game borrows from some of the imagery in that movie. With the main characters doing battle with a tomahawk and blade.

I disagree entirely. People love the AC series because of the sense of history it explores and it's blend with the sci-fi genre. I'm not from Europe or the US and I've found the concepts behind every game fascinating.

Aren't UbiSoft French-Canadian? I don't see why they'd take a jingoistic pro-American stance. The "poor British solider" is an enemy combatant. I don't see the complaint. I think some are being a little overly sensitive. Ubi have clarified that there are good and bad guys on both sides, making for a morally grey game, perhaps more akin to the first Assassin's Creed. Additionally, the protagonist is one-half British, one-half Native American. He's not a Patriot. He's just out against injustice (or so says his official bio).

The reason theres a big flag in the background is because thats probably be the easiest way to convey that its in America and its set during the Revolutionary War

So I guess no Americans played AC 2, since it was set in Europe?

Exactly.
I am neither Italian (Ezio) nor Middle Eastern (Altair), yet I absolutely fell in love with both those respective characters. AC players could care less whether the story is set in Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia or wherever....we all *know* that the Assassins' story is global....hell, universal...in scope.

Silvermoth, if it makes you feel any better, the actual setting is going to sound more like Britian anyway....the colonials will likely be speaking King's English for the most part. You're not going to hear any Brooklyn or California surfer accents out there.

Alot of Ubisoft teams get their hands on Assassin's Creed, as far as I know. I think I've heard as many as 500 people got to work on Brotherhood in all of it's components from side-missions, collectibles, multiplayer, etc.

I'm sure they're just making a story, and not being political.

I could see how some would say this could easily be an "America's awesome, **** yeah!" game. But, you know what? It's kinda an important moment in history...so I would expect it to be something like that.

There being Templars on both American and British sides makes sense as well as, I'm sure, Assassin's being on the British side too.

Hearing the ACII theme while I wait for IGN o start their coverage just reminds me of why I loved that game so much. That theme really helps set the time period, which is what I think made it feel and look as good and realistic as it did. Can't wait to see what they come up with for this one.

Yeah, the AC1 music was appropriately biblical/Islamic, and AC2's series music had that great Renaissance feel. I'm sure AC3 will continue the tradition and have some appropriately contemporary colonial music. Maybe even some iconic classical music for the more upper-crusty settings in the cities.

This is one of my favorite soundtracks from ACII:

Revelations interest me more than Brotherhood but I might as well get both of them to know the continuity but due to the short developing time between the two I won't expect as much as I will with the numbered titles but I'm not in a hurry, but that could change depending how excited I'll be from the trailer for III.
