Assassin´s Creed III - Part 1

It's true that you get DLC for free with a pre-order, that you would typically have to pay for once it's released. However, how many times is it that the pre-order DLC offer is for something useless like an extra skin, or something like that? A lot of the times it's something I'd never buy anyways. The benefits of this extra content usually don't outweigh the fact you have to put money down for something you won't have for a long time. That's my main issue with it.

If the DLC is worth it, I can definitely understand the pre-order, but a lot of the time I see people just pre-ordering for the sake of pre-ordering, regardless of what the content is. That's just my personal experience, though.

thats not anything you are committed to. You cancel a preorder and get your money back at any time

Indeed, that's true. I guess my overall point was that I find it kind of silly to put a deposit down for something as trivial as a video game. It's always just seemed weird to me.

However, I will admit this: I did pre-order Jaws: Unleashed for the original Xbox, since it came with a shark keychain. I was young. :oldrazz:

Well if you plan on getting it, why not preorder it? Its 5 bux. And a lot of the times you'll get something a little extra.

It does seem weird to have it so early. Im more worried about losing my reciept 6 months from now
I put mine in the steel case to avoid losing it. Hopefully I'll remember to bring it with me when the game's released.

To be honest, I've never really understood the principle behind pre-orders. It's really rare to see a game sold out these days, since there are so many different avenues you can purchase from. I understand that a lot (if not all) of them have pre-order bonuses and exclusive content, but to me it still seems weird. You're putting money down for a game you won't have for months, only to get some DLC you'll probably be able to get anyways through traditional methods down the road.

Yeah, usually I'm not too big on pre-orders and bonuses. I made a point of ordering AC3 so early since I got the case right away and needed it for another game I lost the case for. Only other time I really cared about the bonus was for Arkham City and the Robin DLC. I wanted to play as Robin right away and it saved me the $6-7 it would have cost later.

I agree that it's usually pretty rare to find a game completely sold out, especially if you live in a major city with plenty of stores. I make pre-orders now because there was one time I couldn't find a game on the release date when I REALLY REALLY wanted to play. When Devil May Cry 4 came out I had to go to four stores before I found a copy. Third store I went to had 1 copy but the guy working there promised it to some 13 year old kid who was playing a demo in the store. A friend pointed out to me later that I should have told the guy he can't sell an M rated game like DMC to a 13 year old without his parents. I really wish that had occurred to me at the time because the kid gave me a smug smile as I left. I would have loved to have deprived that little punk of the game.

So yeah, I pre-order to avoid situations like that.

Because you never know what kind of deals are going to be available when the game comes out. I don't want to lock myself into a retailer, and then find out someone else offers it for a better price, or a better package, come release day. Like was mentioned above, you can always cancel the pre-order, but at that point it's an unnecessary hassle. And if I don't care about the pre-order bonus, putting a deposit down makes no sense, since I'll be able to get it on release day no matter what.

But, regardless, it's only my own personal preference and opinion. I don't begrudge anyone pre-ordering or whatnot. We all end up playing the same game anyways.

Getting a preorder bonus before the game comes out isn't very new. GameStop/EB used to do this when they were separate companies.

Better incentive to preorder, IMHO.

IMO the case should have came with the LE. It's stupid to give it out this early, they should have given out a poster right now or something.

my apologies if this has been posted already.

Assassin's Creed 3 four-player co-op listed by XBL Marketplace

The Xbox Live Marketplace's listing for Assassin's Creed 3 briefly counted "Online co-op 2 - 4" among the game's various features, as well as "Online multiplayer 2 - 8." While the online multiplayer classification remains, the co-op listing has since been removed from both the European and North American Xbox Live Marketplace.

Situations like this are tricky, because the Xbox Live Marketplace has been known to list some patently false information. At times, however, it can be right on the money, so we're bringing it your attention. While multiplayer is nothing new at this point for Assassin's Creed, campaign co-op would be a major addition to the franchise.

I would be down to cooperatively assassinate dudes.

Yes and no. Take Mass Effect 3 for example, if you wanted the Collectors Edition of the game and you didn't preorder it, the only way you're getting it right now is off of ebay at twice the cost.

What size is the artwork from the preorder? Is it poster size or the size of the case?

That's the thing, too.

If your the type of fan that wants to make sure you get your hands on it, then pre-ordering makes sense. I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection...and I'm happy I did because I probably would have had to pay the $100+ I've seen on Amazon for it.

You could always, also, just take the risk that they'll be extras lying around that will dip in price. I got my brother the CE for Saints Row The Third for a lower price than what it was selling originally when bought it a few months after the game's release.

It seems to be a game by game basis, depending on how many of the things were made and bought. I hear size matters too. Stores not wanting to have a giant box, ie: something like The Skyrim CE, take up as much space as that does...so those could get a price cut even faster if there's some lying around.

I just saw the trailer.

It's a pleasant surprise. I have been with the series since the beginning, but it has gotten tired. Skipping from the Crusades to the Renaissance was a great idea. ACII brought so much more to the table in depth, side missions, variety and gameplay and even character development over the first one. ACB was pretty much ACII Redux, but it improved a few things and added more interesting things and had the first strong plot of the series (the Borgias made great villains). It also moved Desmond's story along in a fascinating way.

Then I started playing ACR in January. I never finished it. I'm not sure I'm even halfway through. ACR is just ACB Redux, which was a revisit of ACII. I like Ezio, but that is the only reason I'll someday finish that game. Even Desmond, after so much progress in Brotherhood, was sidelined into nothingness. This game moving into the Revolution actually looks fresh, new and a chance to do something different.

Yea i think thats pretty much how it goes.

Someone Has Already Made A Replica Assassin’s Creed III Tomahawk

6:30PM Yesterday |

Sometimes, the internet moves so fast it makes your head spin. Take this piece of fan art, for example. It’s been less than a week since we knew what Assassin’s Creed III’s hero looked like, yet in that time somebody has managed to already build a replica tomahawk that looks identical to the one he carries in the game. So far there hasn't been any indication that he will, but that could change.

That's what I'm thinking, seeing an assassin without hidden blades is just so odd. Nothing that I can't accept, but still odd nonetheless.

IGN said that Ubisoft confirmed that the hidden blade will still be there, but it wasn't shown in the trailer. Probably because they wanted to highlight the new dual-wielding combat and weapons.

I'm watching the Patriot and damn, I cant wait to hack some people up with a tomahawk/knife combo.

I can definitely see the hookblade appearing too, and quite organically, since he's going to be latching onto trees etc.
