Assassins Creed: Revelations

Yeah, I saw it after I finished the game. It was really cool, even though the ending was a bit of a head scratcher.
 
I saw it straight after i played through the game (12 hours straight just so i could get on Skyrim lol)

Loved it, had a tear in my eye watching his story come to a close in such a perfect way.

I'd watch a trilogy on the big screen on Ezio's life no questions asked.
 
I am really enjoying my second play through of the game. The first time around I was in such a hurry to find out what is going to happen to Ezio and Altair that I really didn't take my time doing all the challenges. What I found out was in this second play through that bombs are really cool. They really took everything up a notch in gameplay except for Den Defense. Its ok but instead of directing people all the time I want to jump on in the action from time to time.
 
Haven't played Revelations yet, so I was wondering:

How does Constantinople compare to previous cities in the franchise? Is it bigger than, say, Florence? Does it feel like a really new environment, or more of the same? And is there as much to do and to explore in ACR as there was in AC2?
 
I don't think it was as big as Rome was in ACB, but with the ziplines it really looks and feels different. So yeah, it feels like a new location for the most part because of that and because they separate it a bit into a bigger island where most of the story takes place, and a smaller one where the Assassin hideout is.
 
It's about as big as Rome but there really just aren't as many sidequests in general. I'm replaying Brotherhood again now (for like, the 4th time) and ACB had the shop weapon quests, all the faction quests, the assassination contracts, the Christina levels etc. Revolutions doesn't have as many as that, but the missions it DOES have are designed much better, more interesting dialogue and feel more satisfying. At the end of the game, it made it feel a bit shorter than Brotherhood but still very satisfying, so it depends what you want. Initially I really enjoyed the Brotherhood side missions, not so much for the story etc but just fun, additional gameplay, but I don't think I really miss that from Revelations since I feel like I could still, just as easily, play through AC 2, ACB and ACR and be completely satisfied.

I just wish AC 1 lent itself to replayability a bit more. Just that beginning section is so arduous.

I won't have this game until Xmas, so can anyone tell me if you still purchase armor sets? That was one thing I liked about the last 2 games and wanted to know if that was still a feature.

Oh and are there any unlockable skins besides the pre-order bonuses?
 
Yes, and yes. There are at least 2 unlockable skins I can think of, as well as two sets of unique armor you can unlock through various means.
 
Is there any way to stop the Templars from contesting your dens. The last two times I've played all I've been doing is defending my dens. Once I finish defending one before I can even make it to the next mission marker another is under attack. Do I have to place one of my assassin's there?
 
I just finished ACR and this is my thoughts on the ending and theories after rewatching all the game finishes and the truths again.

From the previous games up till now, we know that the ones who came before (OWCB) created humans. Adam and eve stole the apple and started war against OWCB. because all were busy focusing on war, they did not realize that the sun would release a blast and it killed almost everyone. The OWCB rebuilt humans to survive (mentioned in AC2), meaning now with a survival instinct.

As time went on, the OWCB and the humans began to inter breed and the assassins were born (this explains their eagle vison: The sixth sense mentioned by Minerva in AC2)

The OWCB knew they were dying and would not live forever, so they built temples with possible ways to escape the sun, since they knew they would not be around to keep "protecting" life. 6 vaults have already been used, and desmond is trying to activate the 7th. I will get back to this topic later.

Juno told Desmond to find eve at the end of ACB. Eve is someone who the OWCB knew would have has super high concentration of DNA from the OWCB (my theory) just like desmond does (mentioned in ACR). If Desmond and Eve were to have a son, he could possibly have enough DNA of the OWCB to be like them. He could stop the sun blast. This would explain what Subject 16 said in ACB about "The sun....Your son"

BUT WAIT! If the sun blast is nearing, how can the son have enough time to be born? The 7th temple is a "bomb shelter" that will save them from the sun blast. Even if everyone dies, Desmond and Eve will start over, and their son will ensure the protection of mankind.

My theory on lucy:
I always rememeber this scene from AC1 although I only played it once so i could be wrong, In which al mualim stabbed Altair and then later told him that the Apple made him see what he needed to see. Maybe this a similar thing to what happened with lucy. Juno needed the whole group to think she was dead when in fact, she needs to be somewhere else doing something else that will tie in in the end.

Do the den attacks ever stop? I dont mind the new tower defense gameplay but its getting annoying how Im keep having to go back to it bc I get some stupid message about these attacks all the time

Don't become notorious, then you won't have to worry about defending any dens. I always check the map for any officials to kill or heralds to bribe anytime my awareness meter is past one-quarter of the way full.

Also, once any assassin you assign to a den graduates to Master Assassin, that den is automatically locked from being attacked by Templars. Once all the dens are locked, you automatically win the challenge for "successfully den defend three times" (paraphrasing), whether you've actually done so or not.

When your Assassins reach level 10, you then assign them to a Den. Sending them on the missions will really get their XP up fast.

Oh wow, thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time I play. It was starting to get very repetitve nad reminding me of how annoyed I was with AC1
 
Whilst it didn't answer alot of questions or deal with subject 16 very well (Remeber the Truth and glyphs in AC2 and ACB and the conversation he had with Desmond in ACB), I thought it was a superb game.

And then watching Embers... ok, I'll admit, I cried like a little girl. Sure, Altairs death was grander and mor'mythical' i suppose, but Ezios was more personal. I said it was a happy death, which was just heartbreaking for us to watch... if that makes any sense lol.
 
Just finished the game for a second playthrough. Totally different experience, so much more rewarding after knowing all the little intricacies and also discovered new things the second time round, like how you can permanently station Assassins in different countries (the ones you take over in Mediterranean defence) to level them up, as well as recruit new Assassins from overseas.

The whole last 10 minutes of the game got me just as good the second time round. Whatever they do in AC 3 and then in the next Non-trilogy after Desmond's story is done, I don't care what time period or country they do, I just really, really hope they keep the same level of intrigue with the modern/future stuff. So many aspects of that that just gives me chills.

It reminds me so much of how I felt with Lost, before it went crap, but you can tell Ubisoft are so many more steps ahead narrative wise than the Lost writers ever were. I've been pouring over the fiction heaps in the last few weeks and there are so many hidden gems. There are even references to the tension between Abbas and Altair in the first game. This is truly, truly my favourite series ever. I want to devour every aspect of this game and I'm still hungry for more :P

How do you recruit assassins from other countries?
 
Well other Mediterranean regions anyway. If you have a few empty Assassin slots, the option to 'recruit new Assassins' appears in one or two of the mission contracts in your Assassin Den's. You can send an Assassin on that contract and it's just like any other mission except at the end of it you get a new recruit. It's a nice way of doing things if you like managing your assassins through the pigeon coops rather than constantly saving citizens. It's also more efficient if you then choose to post certain Assassins to those various regions, which takes them out of your list of available Assassins. I think you can post up to 3 Assassins at each Mediterranean location, so it ends up being quicker and more efficient to just send one somewhere and then replace them straight away.
