Korra Alone and Battle For Zaofu are my two favorite episodes of Book 4 so far.

God damn, I love Varrick. He's one of my favorite characters and I love that they're pairing him up with Bolin for the season, nice call back to when he first appeared in book 2. And the final battle between Korra and Kuvira is going to f***ing epic. I'm predicting a meeting between Korra and Zaheer. They kept him alive for a reason and facing him again is the best way I can think of for her reconciling her PTSD.

Bolin did the thing.

Neat episode. Loved the Varrick/Bolin team up. I do hope we can find out more on why Bataar Jr is such a jerk.

I too am wondering why Bataar, Jr. would go against his family so extremely.

Is he the oldest child? Or the middle? Idk, could be be the worst case of middle child syndrome ever lol

I think Kuvira is an incredible villain. Part of the reason why she can be compared to so many others is because she is the ultimate Avatar villain. She's Ozai's imperialism and Amon's equalism and Unalaqq's uniter and Zaheer's freedom bringer, and most importantly she's a young woman like Korra. It'd be like Aang fighting and evil Spiritbending kid in his Book 4. What gives Kuvira away as a villain is that her esteemed virtue seems to change based on what the problem is. First it's about self determination, then it's about equality. She just wants to help, until people resist, then they're in the way of change.

I really liked the way she whooped Korra. It didn't seem right, and I was very frustrated with Korra's lack of area attacks, but we know Korra's out of the game... and her attitude, being anti-combat, kinda showed, which culminated in her unwillingness to finish the fight as the Avatar. She doesn't want to fight, and I think the best ending for her would be to learn that she doesn't have to (other than the fact that she will of course), but to let the battle go in the end.

I'm pretty sure Bataar Jr. got re-educated somehow.

I still doubt we're going to get a massive showdown between Korra and Kuvira.

I do love the idea of Zaheer reappearing. He's my favorite villain from the franchise. I love the irony of his defeat. He was given airbending, unlocked flight, preached absolute freedom and was brought back to earth in chains.

I agree about Bataar Jr., we barely met him last year, and now he's a delusional super angry child. The way he yelled at his father was way too cold for no explanation.

I liked this episode, and it definitely raised the stakes again.

We need next week to come quickly! Bolin, do the thing!

I liked this episode. That fight scene was way too easy for Kuvira. At first it annoyed me because I can't see a scenario where anyone could defeat a fully fledged Avatar but Korra still isn't on her game. She's still dealing w/ some weird mental issues too. I'm wondering if the images of the doppleKorra are her internal struggles. It's like she's fighting the worse images of herself.

Ninja Su and sons were cool to see. I'm wondering if Kuvira also knows the patented Bei Fong Earth-radar-sight thingie? That would be cool to see down the road that Su taught Kurvira too well and has created a monster.

Varrick/Bolin was good. I love Varrick's antics and how you don't really know if he's completely insane or a calculating genius.

If only the Korra of Book Two was here for that fight.
Gosh darn.

I cant wait till Korra gets 100 again because I am ready to see her kick some butt! She knows how metal bend now so she should be good. And I hope she gets a new outfit since I'm tired of her emo look. I also wonder how metal bending would do in the Avatar state.

*ouch*

The fight between Kuvira and Korra was painful to watch. But, hopefully it will make Korra's eventual success all the sweeter.

It did seem to be poor planning by Korra that she didn't take any water with her into battle. Korra's first and foremost bending skill is water bending. To go into any battle without easy access to that element seemed odd. And Korra even seemed to be sweating up a storm, but didn't utilise any of her sweat for water bending either.

I was also a little surprised that Korra didn't use air bending to a greater degree. It's likely that Kuvira has trained against fire and water benders since there are still plenty of them around. But air bending would be pretty much an unknown for Kuvira since there were only four air benders up until three years ago and even now, they're pretty limited and probably not travelling around offering to spar against opponents. Also, where fire and water seem like opposites, air bending seems like a natural opposite to earth bending.

Well her go to has always been Fire, she is much more a firebender then she is a water bender so I wasn't that surprised.

Wow. Phenomenal episode. It was so painful to watch Korra lose like that. Say what you want about the quality of Book 2, but Korra's bending was absolutely beastly. To see her now is really hard. However, I'm very happy to see ghost Korra return briefly, and that she isn't something that could be fixed easily like the metal. I'm guessing Korra's being haunted by the necessity to be a pacifist like Aang. While she's usually great at physical combat, I think she's realizing that violence never leads to positive things. I look forward to seeing how this show resolves this problem.

Great analysis of Kuvira. I think she's a great and appropriate villain for this Book, and really seems to embody the problems Korra has been facing since the beginning. And I really love to hate her. Bataar Jr., on the other hand, I just hate.

For the first time I truly love Varrick. They've done wonderful things with him this season!

Speaking of Book 2, it's weird how Korra got these psychological problems from just the events in Book 3, but not from the almost apocalyptic stuff in the 2nd book. The end will probably need to be a battle of ideals, because if Korra went full power, Kuvira would most likely be smashed.

Much more a firebender than water bender?? She's a NATURAL water bender. That's like saying Aang was always more of an earth bender than an air bender. Not the way it works, she uses fire bending a lot but in that Kuvira fight, I dont know. It was weird. It seemed like she just kept using air bending almost exclusively and earth bending for defense. She did throw some fire but not much that I remember. She was tossing wind at Kuvira like crazy though. I do remember thinking that was weird while I was watching the episode at least.

How is that like saying Aang is more of an Earth Bender? Really? They are nothing a like, Korra is a natural water bender but she is also the Avatar whose been training her entire life. The girl LOVES her fire bending. So if you are an AVATAR, you're go to style doesn't need to be your born to gift.

I didn't think so. Being chained up, knowing you could possibly die is a lot more traumatic.

Her personality and fighting style was more typical of a firebender. She used it a lot more than waterbending in the first season.

Yeah, Korra has always turned to fire bending first, ever since Book 1. It's her go to strategy for combat, and whenever she's frustrated or needs to bend she always uses fire. Her personality is aggressive and confrontational, so fire makes sense.

Some horrible things happened to Korra in Book 2. Ravaa getting ripped out of her and getting trapped in the ground come to mind. But she was also so empowered later by Ravaa and the Tree of Knowledge. In Book 3 she was trapped in the Avatar State, and was desperate and crazy, and had the air taken out of her lungs. She had nothing to reconcile with with at the end of that book. Book 2 definitely contributed, but I can definitely see how Book 3 put her over the edge.

I love these shorts, they're hilarious!

Also, I have a special thing to show you all later today, if you're read my Spirit of Earth story you'll probably guess what it is. Stay tuned!
