Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 3

This show is starting to bother me. Thankfully next week we get to say goodbye to theses fools and get to hang out with Wan.

Girls go running back to guys who dump them/ignore them all the time.

This was the best episode yet! Loved Mako's and Asami's plot. Varrick is interesting.

But seriously, Korra lost her memory? Bwhahahahaaha at the writing on her.

I viewed the kiss of Asami just being broken due all her efforts to save her company. She gave up and there's Mako still believing things will be alright. Just a spur of the moment type of thing. And then Varrick comes to "save" her company and she just signs the contract without much thought.

Korra got eaten by a spirit in the previous episode. The fact that it has rattled her brain or core isn't too much of a leap. It's not like she fell and hit her head or some groan-inducing reason. I doubt the amnesia lasts long.

Which just makes it even more unnecessary.

If Korra didn't have amnesia, acting in character she'd be making demands and wouldn't want to listen to anyone there who won't help her the way she wants and would look for a way to leave. So this plot device gives a reason to slow things down while regaining her memories and getting back in touch with the spiritual side of things.

You act like they needed to put her on an island, or write a season with obvious villains or make everyone unlikable other then Mako. You act like this was all necessary. As if it makes it okay that they have no idea how to write and are not forced to fall back on tired as hell cliches. Which would be okay if they could at least write them in a fun and original way. But nope, can't even do that.

At least when they use to rip off Star Wars, it was done by above average writers.

You know, I think most of the problems many fans have with this season, mostly pertaining to Korra, could have been rectified by doing one simple thing. That is, leaving her with just her Airbending and without her other elements.

(Of course, we know that the creators of the series didn't have the foresight to know that there would be future seasons [they should have known better], but humor me.)

Think about it. For one, it would give a reason for Mako to be with her and act as someone to comfort her and help her get through her training, instead of just being some random forced shipping. Also, instead of feeling like she's acting hostile towards people for no reason, we would have reason to feel her frustration and feel sorry for her. Her lack of progress would also give her an excuse to train with Unalaq to help Korra with her spiritual side (of course, leaving Tenzin on more amiable terms), which would be a continuation of her slightly tapping into it near the end of the first season. This would feel like a natural progression for her from what happened in the first season, without regressing her character. And it could perfectly lead into more of her spiritual training with the Wan episodes.

You could pretty much play out events more or less the same as they have been this season, just with these differences in mind. It's one simple change, but it helps everything so much.

Well, what do you think? :woot:

Korra probably sucks now because of Studio Pierrot. Seriously, in one of the episodes, they made her look like naruto.

Just her airbending would have been cool, with all four for the Avatar State, that could have been awesome. If she had unlocked the other elements again in the process of mastering the spirit world/spiritbending/whatever.

I just came to the thread to say how awesome Milo was after the Lemur scene though. that owned everything. I love this show, and am glad Korra and Mako split, because it adds to their relationship, and it underscores how horrible Korra is in relationships in general, which makes her really interesting to me..

Gives new meaning to the phrase "Identity Crisis".

Hopefully the one hour special tonight will be epic. I have high expectations for Wan.

Just a reminder that tonight's episode starts at 8pm, not 8:30.

Yay, does that mean Korra was barely in it again.

I want to take every frame of this episode and wallpaper my house with it!

Yeah it was a really great origins episode. To bad Nick doesn't come out with a dtv series featuring various avatars.

They could make the next series an anthology of past avatars and I'd be happy.

Korra is going to have a responsibility and challenge no other Avatar since Wan has had. I think that's pretty incredible for her character.

I liked that it filled in some details as to what Korra is/could be up against regarding the Spirits. A lot of Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki influence in this ep like Spirited Away. It had a cool "boss battle" near the end. Now it's time for Korra to straighten things out.

I think these eps benefitted from having only one plot focused on. When the show tries to juggle multiple plots (like the Tenzin family vacation) it just eats up time that could be better spent elsewhere. Though we know [blackout]Jinora[/blackout] has some role to play coming up as well.

It looks like the folks on the avatarspirit.net forums are pointing out:

That the tree Vaatu was sealed in looks similar to Koh's lair.
