Its the infinity gauntlet after all.
I'm guessing that they have decided not to use the device of the gauntlet fixing everything.
That does happen in the comics, but they seem to be going in another direction.
One interesting detail, to my mind, is the final shot of Thanos, contemplating his journey in a remote location, a humble dwelling, etc. I will have to compare and confirm, but my reaction was to see that as a pretty clear adaptation of, or reference to, the end of Gauntlet in the comics.
But, in the comic, Thanos has already lost by that time. He has given up the gauntlet, and the damage has been undone. Or at least that is my recollection. So this is like the whole story, but with a victorious Thanos.
