I didn't think they coulda topped the Bifrost scene.. and they did. I disagree, Javon... we prefer that Thor have a hammer, but he's still Thor without it. I think that was a major focus of Ragnarok... "you're not the god of hammers"..

I am quite clearly more a DC guy than a Marvel guy, so my prior knowledge of Thor before the MCU is lacking. The first two films bored me, but Ragnarok turned me 180 around on the character. I always thought Cap was the Superman of The Avengers, but it’s clear that Thor actually is. Once they gave him a personality, he became my favourite Marvel hero. And he easily has the best fist-pump moments in the entire series. That moment he appears in Wakanda to save everybody else’s arse is what they should have accomplished with Superman in Justice League...

Thanos tells. Show her doing what he supposedly admires, since they showed a random little girl going along with this guy playing with a knife whilst a firing squad is going on in the b/g.

So you've been saying "he just picks up some random girl", and I've been pointing out that the movie basically explained why. No one else seemed to be confused by this because it's pretty straight-forward. Thanos sees something special in her and adopts her. Like I've been saying.

Now you're finally illuminating that you wanted to be shown what he saw in her more than what was given.

Yep she's power tier in offensive capabilities, but civilian tier (or whatever the lowest tier is called) in terms of durability. One lapse in focus against a power tier or even top tier character (which she's prone to) and she's dead.

I regarded durability very highly when discussing power levels, but most people don't seem to.

Yeah it's all important. It's great if you can end the world with a thought but if air kills you, that limits you a bit too lol.

Does anyone know what Cap said at the very end, when all the surviving heroes were gathered around? He says something before it cuts to Thanos looking out at a sunset.

It was something like "oh God no!"

Some people have the wrong idea of Thanos (at least in regard to Gamora). Thanos was not killing people in this because he is incapable of love. Actually it is the exact opposite: Thanos loves the universe. He wants to save it. He continually praises his opposition throughout the film. He understands why they oppose him. He doesn't judge them for it. But, at the same time, he see the greater good and he doesn't want anyone to get in the way of that. In the moment he saw Gamora, why did he save her? Because he was only killing half the population of that world, not all. He was comforting a child that was going to lose her mother and was comforting her because he understood loss and that she was going to be in pain. He didn't want her to see that. He ended up bonding with her and adopted her.

That's what makes Thanos interesting. He is not a straight, emotionless villain. Thanos feels great emotion. But, he is still evil.

Agreed. He thinks he’s saving the universe by killing half of it. He thinks he’s the good guy. Villains only really work when they think they are the ones in the right.

You know I was kind luke warm about Captain Marvel but Infinity War has got me so hype. Not because of the post credit, but because of the chance to stay in the MCU cosmic world.

I really hope the Marvel space stories are fully explored in the next phase. Loved the Titan and Guardians stuff.

It's a shame inhumans was introduced in a crappy tv show because they would have fit in perfect with the cosmic line up.

To me the whole key to the ending was what Strange said to Tony while on Q ship, that if he were faced with the decision of saving the Time stone or Tony or Peter, he would choose the Time stone. When he saw the one outcome that meant them winning, it required him to give up the time stone in exchange for saving Tony.

Who dies in this movie is shocking, but what's important to note is who lives:

Tony, Cap, Thor, Banner, Natasha and my guess Hawkeye. This is an Avengers movie after all, not a Spider-man movie, not a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, not a Dr. Strange movie.

Strange new that there was no way to prevent him from gathering the stones, so the only outcome that was different was where he freely gave the final stone.

I loved that as well. I don't think most people caught what Strange was saying in that scene. So well done The right death choices were made. This is an Avengers film after all, and Avengers 4 rightly will be about THEM.

He is also my favourite Avenger so I am A-okay with him surviving that punch. Also, a big LOL at people who were demanding for an explanation for why Cap could withstand Thanos. I predicted it was just through sheer willpower and I was right. It was such an awesome moment.

He’s mine too, I was actually a bit gutted how under-utilised he was in the film but he’s had a ton of focus in other movies. So it’s fine aslong as they don’t do it again to him in Avengers 4.

Good point. Either way, 2019 can't come soon enough.

The looks on everyone's faces at the end of the movie was so gut wrenching. You can see how once the initial shock wears off that everyone would start wondering if the people they loved were erased. Pepper, Happy, Jane, Hawkeye, etc etc.

The implications of half the universe being gone is so evident and that's why this movie hits so hard. "Oh god" indeed.
