The Avengers Avengers Score : Singular, Or Multiple Composer?

I wonder if it was intentional that the song "Rain Fire Upon Them" from the Captain America score has a beginning that is identical to "Arrival" from Avengers.

Not similar. Identical.

It's not identical.

Yeah me too. I read a few times that none of the individual themes were in the movie, so it was surprising to hear.

I didn't really like the score at first. Then, after the movie I gave it another listen...It's perfect.

Brilliant score for the Avengers. The theme is still thundering through my head hours afterwards.

I think my favorite cue is "I got a ride"

So much epicness, intensity, and all around badassery in one cue. :D

I saw the movie Friday night, and boy does the movie elevate Silvestri's score to a new level. I like how Silvestri repeated the theme and incorporated fragments of it throughout, and it's very catchy.

I know some die-hard film music fans are saying "This sounds like Media Ventures/Remote Control scores" but I honestly don't hear much of an influence. Some electronic looping and percussion, but that's it. Everything is nicely orchestral and bombastic... the only thing this score lacked was a choir.

A fine effort by Silvestri otherwise. I take back what I said earlier.

My favorite music part is when The Avengers are assembling right before Loki is about to attack New York.

The score is solid. But I honestly prefer the Thor, Cap and even TIH scores.

I think the Cap score is more memorable. I was expecting something similar for the Avengers with a sweeping epic and heroic theme that was instantly catchy like Cap's one. I think it should've had more of a major and brighter sound. It's a bit minorish and a bit too dark.

I wish they used more of Cap's theme during either his fight with Loki or his rescue of the people from the aliens.

I preferred the CA:TFA theme, but I think Avengers has stronger action cues. "I Got a Ride," "A Little Help," etc.

The film was great but the theme or score didn't leave much of an impression on me. Not that I was paying much attention to the music anyways. But the score didn't make much of an impact in the film for me to notice it. It was just there. I notice that those who did notice the score in the film have already heard the download version of the cd beforehand. For the most part I think Silvestri hit a foul ball on this one.

I agree in some ways. Too much happening to really notice the score. The best parts of the score were overshadowed by the incredible CGI, action, and dialouge. The best parts that had an impact were after Coulson died, the classical music in Stuggart, A Promise, and the Avengers theme star credits.

Actually, listening to this now, I get shivers. Especially at the 3.44 mark onwards. It just makes me feel like i'm back in the cinema witnessing this all over again.

And does that short cue around the 20 second mark remind anyone else of the Judge Dredd score? did Silvestri do that too?

Just checked. Yea Silvestri did do Judge Dredd. Knew i recognised that que from somewhere. It's the part where Thor loses his **** against Loki and body slams him on Stark Tower.

I'm not really sure of the hate for this...or really any of the marvel scores. I like them all, to be honest.

I thought the same thing! I loved the entire score and thought it did its job quite well. I don't understand the critiques about the score across the Net.

I'm seriously hooked on silvestri's Avengers theme song right now. I've had it in my head for the past 3-4 days now. I'm so obsessed with it .... makes me want to see them all suit up and go to battle immediately.

I thought the movie was a homerun but it could have been a grand slam if it had a better score. Sorry, but I thought it was unremarkable and totally forgettable.

They should have used Michael Giacchino.

That's all you bro. I disagree love the score in this flick.

Someone has to tell me if Track 17 "A Promise" (when the news footage and Central Park scene are playing) has been used in any other films/tv shows. I am VERY certain that I've heard this track before used at the end of a film.

I've listened to the score a few times now and it's grown on me. However, I still feel it is incomplete. I think the score works as incidental music throughout the film, and even for certain cues. I still think the movie needed a more triumphant end theme though, even something similar to Captain America. If it just had that extra epic theme together with the rest of the score, I would've been happy.

The Avengers theme that Silvestri uses could've just functioned as a secondary theme. It kind of has that minorish sound like the Star Wars Imperial March. Imagine if that theme was the main theme for Star Wars. It wouldn't have been quite the same. Star Wars has both the Imperial March and the Main Titles, which gives the film two separate moods - one more heavy and dramatic, and one triumphant and soaring. Avengers only has the heavy and dramatic one. That's where I feel it is lacking.
