Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 1

Yeah, that whole crossover was moronic. It should've been a curbstomp on the parts of Wonder Woman, Superboy, and Lobo. The idea that Storm, Spider-Man, and Wolverine could come out on top in any of those fights without a massive deus ex machina to help them out is absolutely ridiculous.

And I forget, but who did Thor fight in that? Superman or Captain Marvel? My memory's hazy on that part, but I think it was Captain Marvel. I think Thor won that one, but it was also idiotic, in that he shot him with lightning and turned him back into Billy Batson. Say wha-?!? If his powers worked like that then every lightning wielding enemy would be a deadly threat to Captain Marvel.

Yeah Wonder Woman getting beaten by Storm was kinda silly. Ms. Marvel would have been a better match for Wonder Woman, but I can't remember if Ms. M was back in action by then or not.

Thor fought Captain Marvel (SHAZAM!) & after the Big Red Cheese had to switch back to Billy Batson for a moment Thor beat him by whacking him with the hammer before he could change back into Captain Marvel.

Superman fought the Hulk back when he was in his "Professor" phase.

Yeah, that was Thor back when he had his terrible chain outfit. Because nothing says Norse God of Thunder like wearing chains.

Mike Deodato designed it and it only lasted for one issue of Thor's actual comic. Give the guy a break. :o

But yeah, the way Thor won in Marvel vs. DC was stupid. I still think he would've taken Captain Marvel, but it shouldn't have been like that.

I think that battle more than any other should have been a stalemate.....very very evenly matched. Thor's costume at that time was as bad as the current Superman design is now. Superman took Hulk out with a devastating haymaker if I remember correctly. The story sucked, but Castellini's art was amazing!

Superman winning by punching the Hulk out was kind of stupid too, although it's excusable because it was the Professor Hulk. It'd make a lot more sense if he tossed the Hulk into space or something. Use his superior versatility to outmaneuver the Hulk, rather than just outclassing the Hulk in pure strength, which is what TKO'ing a guy with a haymaker effectively means in a superhero fight.

Meh, even as a kid I always chalked it up to Clark being god. I always assumed that Supes punched harder than anyone.

That's kind of lame if he's fighting a character whose entire schtick is being stronger than everyone else. I mean, I'm not saying the Hulk should've won, but at least let him keep his gimmick.

Yeah, it would've been great to see Superman taking advantage of his other powers to beat the Hulk. A great example of that is the last episode of JLU. While fighting Darkseid he took full advantage of his superspeed and flight to wail on Darkseid. Something like that would've been nice to see in use against the Hulk. Flying far above him and blasting him with heat vision, freezing him with cold breath, blitzing him with full-strength punches at super-speed, throwing him in orbit and wailing on him in space, etc. That's how a Superman victory over the Hulk should go, not just standing toe to toe with him on the ground and simply punching him in the face.

In a perfect world Superman would always make good use of his Swiss-army-knife list of powers to beat his enemies, but instead we live in a world where writers settle for Superman either punching someone down or throwing something big & heavy at the enemy because it's easier to draw.

Also, batman's written doing things that only someone with powers could do despite the fact that he has powers. Comics everybody!

sigh...is there a reason given to why the PF would go to those spots...seems kinda specific

Seriously. I'd have people posted in Jean's home town, Westchester, the sight of her death in Manhattan, the bottom of Jamaica Bay, Hope's birthplace in Alaska, the Moon...

But Latveria? Wundagore? They're just name-dropping famous Marvel U locations.

whew I thought it was just me

Actually, those are good places to keep an eye on. Doom and the High Evolutionary are definitely the kinda dudes that would try to do something like, steal the Phoenix's power or some such.

now I haven't been up on comics but isn't Doom hanging out with the FF??

I'm glad someone is giving Wolverine flack for trying to kill hope. I'm just sick of his "I'm dark and the only one who can do it" routine. He wasnt complaining when Jean with the Phoenix force saved him from plummeting into the sun

Doom's actually stuck in a parallel dimension at the moment, thanks to his time with the FF.

I'm glad Cap is actually addressing Logan's attempted murder of Hope, although I don't know why he expected any different. The fact that he talks to him for all of 3 seconds before punching him in the jaw is very un-Cap-like, too.

which is why this whole thing doesn't make sense to me. If the PF is coming back the only thing Scott and Logan should be thinking about is if Jean is coming back....no one should be thinking its gonna destroy the planet since it hasn't been a threat since the 80's and its been around after that

They're aware that it's destroying every planet along the way, aren't they? I thought that was what the newbie Nova Centurion told them.

The fact that no one has mentioned the possibility of Jean still being connected to the Phoenix force is my biggest complaint of the event so far. Is this part of a misdirection or does Marvel really not care about her at all? If its the latter than this story is in bad taste and doesn't make sense whatsoever.

Hmmmm, kinda seems like how Cyclops was written a few issues earlier, except more words were exchanged before he got violent

The fact that no one has mentioend the events of Endsong is pissing me off. They last saw Jean leaving to collect the Phoenix fragments. Logically, it would lead them to expect her to be coming back with whats going on now

I think Marvel cares more about Emma at this point.
