I'll be glad to see the New Avengers go away and never come back, if Bendis' departure makes that happen. Just retitle it Heroes for Hire or something. The Avengers don't need a street-level team; if you can make it onto the Avengers, you should be able to handle street-level crap on your own.

As for Land, he's an insult to comic artists who actually mastered the craft. I can't overstate how much I absolutely hate his work.

Heroes for Hire will never sell New Avengers numbers so thats not going to happen

Oh snap, did anyone read UXM 14? Sinister finally has entered AvX and guess what?

He has an entire army of Jean clones that he wants to give the Phoenix

I hope the real one comes and obliterates them. If they ever wanted an out for Cyclops and his behavior over the last few years, its also revealed in this issue that Sinister also [blackout]has Scott clones as well[/blackout]

I see Scott's next 6 ex-wives! :awesome:

Haha, that's so stupid.

AvX this week sucked too, though. Both sides are just continuing on into crazy extremist territory.

Technically, it's not [BLACKOUT]Jean[/BLACKOUT], it's actually [BLACKOUT]Madelyne Pryor[/BLACKOUT].

I thought UXM #14 was fantastic. I love how Gillen introduced this arc with Sinister laying out his plan of attack. The art by Dustin Weaver was terrific too.

As for Avengers vs. X-Men #6 - I officially stamp this book as a fail.

Bottom line: to quote a brilliant animated movie critic from the mid 90's - IT STINKS. :down

The only reason I'm going to stick through the rest is because I'm a complete sucker for the end to the Scarlet Witch saga. Admitting you have a problem is always the first step....

Its neither. T[BLACKOUT]hey are all clones of Jean. Its her genetic template that was used to create all women[/BLACKOUT]

AvX 6 had great art but the story took a turn in direction which I dont care for

My personal issue right now is that they missed an opportunity
to juxtapose the godlike Phoenix Five against the resident actual god, Thor. Hickman had one line about it, where either T'challa or Beast comments on how no one ever stops to question whether Thor is too powerful to work with the Avengers on Earth, so why are they formulating plans to stop the Phoenix Five when all they've done is good. But there was a years-long story about Thor overstepping his bounds and the dangers of a god handing humanity everything on a silver platter called the King Thor Saga, wherein the Avengers came to blows with Thor over exactly the same things the Phoenix Five are doing now. Yet no one manages to articulate any of the intelligent and reasonable points that story brought up in reference to the Phoenix Five--not even Thor himself, who still remembers his time as King Thor. Instead, he's reduced to a fascistic thug (complete with high-tech jackboots courtesy of Tony Stark), punching and abducting children. :o [/rant]

Because writing this story intelligently would take too much time.

I've never understood why the proactive superhero is always portrayed as being morally wrong. Everyone expects a superhero to stop a bank robbery, but suddenly they've crossed the line the moment they put a lake in the desert or dismantle a militia of African babies.

Or because this current gaggle of writers that are in control ignore everything that came before them.

Probably for the same reason that a superhero who kills a super-villain in order to protect people in the big scheme of things is viewed as morally wrong - just because.

That's not really viewed as wrong anymore, though. Sadly, everyone in the Marvel universe seems cool with murdering almost anyone for almost any reason at this point. Children still seem to be an exception for most (even Wolverine, for all of about 3 seconds), but that's about it.

As for being proactive, I don't think that's looked down on. Dropping a lake in the middle of the desert, however, is not being proactive, that's playing God. The world is in its current state due to myriad factors and no one person can really take all of the possible variables of such drastic changes into account. Thor tried to do it when he lost his humanity and wound up having to murder his fellow superheroes and put the world under marshal law. The Phoenix Five would undoubtedly run into similar unforeseen problems that they, being flawed individuals, regardless of their power, are not equipped to deal with.

Is this the real reason why Marvel won't bring back Jean Grey? Damn that Mr. Sinister! :cmad:

Now, even if she does show up, I dont think we can trust that they wont say gotcha! Its just another [BLACKOUT]clone[/BLACKOUT]!

Well, in Secret Avengers, it turns out [blackout]Captain Marvel was indeed the real Mar-Vell, returned from the dead through the Phoenix's power. Of course, he promptly died again to return that power to the Phoenix so it would leave Hala alone...[/blackout] So there may be hope for Jean. ;)

I'm not saying they should go on killing sprees, I'm just saying that for obvious long term threats the no killing rule really doesn't work. Not that popular/iconic villains stay dead.

I think the real reason they won't bring Jean back is because the men in power prefer the vampy blonde who slept her way to the top.

what does Brittney Spears have to do with Marvel:woot::woot:

Im sure Wolverine would want to get himself a piece of that. Nate Grey as well. Maybe Cyclops on the side and if Warren had his memories, there's still more for him! But wait, even Xaver can get one for himself. And what the hell....theres still one left over

Looks like Alex is gonna have to share with someone.

Who decides what an obvious long-term threat is? Not every hero is going to make that distinction responsibly enough, and the next thing you know they're gonna be threatening execution to prevent jaywalking and littering.

I'm of the mind that if heroes start killing off villains whenever they choose, they're getting uncomfortably close to the authoritarian, might-makes-right ideology of a whole lot of those selfsame villains most would advocate they kill. It's the hero's job to stop the villain from carrying out whatever danger they pose, not to determine whether or not they deserve life. Sometimes the former does mean killing them, but I'd prefer if they went back to when that was only if there were absolutely no other solution, not just whenever they feel like it, which is what it's becoming.

I actually thought avx6 was the best main issue of the series. I bought it digitial and really enjoyed the infinity comic as well. My only gripe, it was the avengers turn to be written as dopes "Yeah, we've got world peace and stuff.......TAKEEE BACCCKKK HOPPEEE"

Agreed. First issue I enjoyed whole-heartedly. Like many I was quickly losing interest in this event with every passing issue, and I thought the reveal with the Phoenix Five was the DUMBEST thing I've read in comics. But I'm glad they're going with a more subtle, more realistic take on the direction of this series. I'm eagerly waiting for the next issue. Also Infinite #6 was a great look into the new Cyclop's head, and I just love this presentation. And Uncanny X-Men #14 was great. I'm anxious to get this event over with just so I can see what Gillen has planned for Sinister.

I won't be reading this until it's bound, but ultimately I hope Sinister plays a part in the main series, having the X-Men/Avengers having to team up to fight an army of Phoenix powered Jean clones would be pretty awesome.

Watch it'll turn out that Jean's body has been held by Sinister this whole time and she'll be ressurected by the PF by the end of the series.

Also Cyclops will be dead. (that's just the direction this is going)
