Personally, I would prefer they avoid SS backstory.

I would like the viewers to be on the same page as the heroes - discovering bits and pieces as we go.

I don't see a problem (and in fact see an advantage) in portraying the Surfer as a mysterious, powerful alien.

I mean if he steps off his ship with a big "G" on his belt as he did in the original comic, audiences will howl with laughter.

I'd be one of 'em!!!

My concern is more for how they handle the actual story, specifically establishing that the FF are now experienced superheroes. A one minute montage-early in the film- of the FF in numerous battles with an assortment of bad guys would go far in establishing this.

That is a great idea! A montage during the opening credits! FF vs. Mole man! FF vs. Frightful 4! And what a blast it would be if (since they're both done by Fox) they had a few shots of FF vs. X-men!

One thing I do hope is that they get someone else to play Doom. I'm all about keeping the ame actor for a certain character or not having one actor play more than one hero, but McMahon was so bad as Doom I just want someone else. At least someone who can affect an Eastern European accent, for goodness sake!

And since X3 has now broken all box office records for opening day and weekend, maybe Fox will pony up the money needed to do SS the right way. I just hope the story and direction justify the extra money spent!
