Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van El

I'm not bother by the cast change, as the role, in the end, will be small. Even so, I'm happy that they replace Ormond with another talented actress.

I wish it would have gone to Samantha Morton originally.

Do we know of any reason yet why Ormond was let go?

The pics I posted aren't meant to be unflattering -- just a more accurate representation of how Zurer looks. Someone posted a "brushed up" photo of her next to a public photo of Julia Ormond arguing that Zurer is easier on the eyes, which isn't necessarily the case -- at least in my opinion. That said, the brushed up photos of Zurer don't really look like her at all when you compare them to other pics of her on the interwebs. It's as if they gave her a photoshopped nose job or something.

My point is that if she brushes up well in a photo, she will do on screen. So brushed up photos are actually a better representation of what she will look like in the movie... the 'more accurate' pictures of her don't really affect how i'm judging my feelings about her in the role because they are IMO irrelevant.

her name is to inches above your post

your failed attempt at humor is sad

I know what your point is -- I just disagree to an extent. I think she will look the way she generally looks onscreen, which is quite different from the aforementioned "brushed up" photo in which her nose shape was clearly altered.

Again, though, I'm fine with her as Lara. It's likely a minor role anyhow.

Samantha Morton deserves a shot.

I always liked her for the part because she looks so alien to me, I wanted her as Lara, and Thomas Kretschmann as Jor-El, but then again I wanted Bruce McGill as Perry White and no one wanted him as Perry.

I thought Bruce McGill would be absolutely perfect for Perry! I guess he's just not a big enough name. :csad:

I was hoping for Julie Benz, but Zurer was great in Munich, so good choice.

In my mind, Perry was always heavy set, white guy, still with a full head of hair, but graying, and with a short fuse. Not the campy over the top Perry White that has been in TV and movies.

To me, this is Perry White:

Nothing more than that and nothing less. He appears confident, the right weight, has the hair, the voice, he has a commanding screen presence. Some people may have laughed, or smiled, but not because he was campy, but they may have smiled as if to say "wow that was so cool it made me laugh", like when a basketball player dunks over someone else, not "it made me laugh because it was so corny".

Apparently age and how old you look does matter, interesting.
I never found Julia attractive, I was astounded when she was cast as the belle of the movie in Camelot and Legends of the Fall. But good gawd what has happened to her face? My only problem with Ayelet is that she seems much younger than Russell; I just would have preferred that they be close in age; but that is more of a problem with Russell than AZ. Eric Bana as Jor-El, I would need to see a side by side to see if that would work; my favorite for the part is still listed in my signature.

Julia Ormond 46; Ayelet Zurer 42; Russel Crowe 47.

42 & 47 is close and a believable couple.

I found Julia quite striking when she was younger, but yes.. she hasn't aged gracefully. Oh well.

Yeah, it's a non-issue. People usually don't pick mates that are exactly their age anyhow unless they attended the same school together since childhood or something -- there's usually at least some difference in age; and 5 years is fine I think. On a side note, there are people who specifically have a preference for older or younger companions; it's common.

I'm 28 and my wife is 36.

:hehe:

With Christopher Nolan attached, it's best to keep "realistic" expectations. :rimshot:
