[B89] The plot holes & flaws.

Micheal Keaton done a great job with the eyes, like the scene were Jack is hanging about to fall into the chemicals, the batman in batman begins talks alittle too much, if that scene was in batman begins, he would probably try say something intelligent.

Yeah though Christian Bale isn't a bad actor he didn't have that Batman look on his face BB, even Kilmer did okay. Like Keaton in the batmobile taking Vicky back to the Batcave, those eyes, man nobody can beat Keaton on that look.

God, all of the sappy Keaton praise even makes me queasy, and I'm his biggest fan.

It seems like being a Burtonite is almost the 'in' thing for all newer members, especially those with poor grammer, sentence structure and spelling.

Bale and Keaton are both equally identified as Batman to me now, despite the fact that my knee-jerk choice will always be Keaton, just because of the way Burton's films were made, which is in-line with what I would do were I directing Batman films. Not to a T, but a little more me than Nolan's directing style in a lot of ways.

I mean, I could talk for hours about what makes Keaton so great and why I like things he did more than things Bale did (NOT that he did things better, because he didn't), but seeing a lot of outright Keaton asskissing irks me these days. It doesn't feel anywhere near as authentic when it comes from more rounded Batman fans. People like GoogleMe and Damian Dark and darkfly are starting to leave a bad taste of Burtonism in my mouth. They don't come across as anything but biased. Mostly because to praise Keaton, all they do is complain about Bale. That, and those members just seem to repeat the same praises over and over and over.... they're like living spambots.

I hear what you mean, Doc.

This Burtonite/Nolanite crap really has to stop...warring sides of Batman fans, what kind of s**t is that?

My name is CFE...I'm a fan of BATMAN, the character created by Bob Kane and developed by Bill Finger in 1939 and expanded and continued by the some of the most talented band of writers, artists, directors, producers, actors, and creative persons over the last nearly 70 years. I find each and every installment in Batman's non-comic film and TV career to have value, be equal and hold a special place in the history of this amazing multi-dimensional character and thank heaven that unlike Spider-Man or Superman or the X-Men, Batman has been give the gift of one of the most diverse histories in all of comic books.

Everybody who complains about any given factor in that history needs to put a sock in it and be happy our character, unlike other people's favorites around the Hype, is so enduring and obviously so well loved around the world for his adventures to continue thrilling us from generation to generation without fail.

We're fans of, arguably, the most popular character in the comic book universe. I see no reason whatsoever to complain about anything created through Batman from 1939 to now.

I have my Batman. Kevin has his Batman, Captain Clown, Socko, Doc, GoogleMe, Joker...they all have their Batman's.

I'm here to be a fan of Batman in general, to be a fan of everyone's Batman...Burton's, Schumacher's, Timm's whatever...

Let's just stop picking sides and appreciate the longevity of Batman as a whole.

Yeah, CFE? Logic doesn't work on the Burtonite/Nolanite idiots.

I wish it did, though. :csad:

God, how many times??

This is hard to explain but i will do my best. My favoutire version of Batman is the Bruce Timm version from the animated series. I like it for my own personal reasons that don't really need to be explained ... he same applies to every one of you with your favourite versions...

however because of this show, i have been introduced to a variety of other different interpretations.

I love Burton and Nolan as filmakers first and then thier interpretations of batman second. I don't really care which is better because i got the opportunity to witness very skilled hands touch my favourite charcter and create stunning resuts.!!!

Why is this such an issue?:csad:

Same here. I loved Keaton's eyes in both scenes. The one in the Batmobile with Vicky was very good. When she asks him 'where are we going' and he just gave her a quick glance, just like a creature annoyed by her question. :yay:

Unlike other guys who praise Bale and Ledger of being the greatest actors of this generation and blast jack nicholson for a lighthearted quip? it goes both ways i dont bow down in praise to actors like some have you seen some of the threads about bales physique that desend into a all out ass lick fest or the talk that bale, ledger and co are such nice classy guys? get real people you dont know them! all i think is Keatons bat was the best plain and simple.

It's not black and white, you idiot! Not every "Nolanite" bashes Keaton/Burton! You are a piece of trash. If it was as simple as you "just like Keaton the best", then don't bash the new franchise, you selfish and moronic prick!

Grow up. There's more to Batman than what Burton did. Do I think it was the best too? Yes. But I'm mature enough to look beyond that and ignore the ignorant Nolan ass-kissers. You are taking an extreme, and you are part of the problem. You are one of the few Burtonites that is causing trouble. The board would be better off without you.

Don't be a prick and get asshurt about some other people thinking Bale and Ledger and co. are the best thing since sliced bread. Because you know what? You are doing the exact same thing on the other end. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton would be totally ashamed of your behavior and inability to move on in the ways you need to. And I know this for a fact being a lifelong fan of both and knowing their personalities far better than you ever could. Burton himself said there was life beyond his interpretation. You like Burton so much? Respect what he said!

Damn....that was pretty harsh, but I agree. Burton's interpretation was good, but not the best. He made a great movie, but so did Nolan. It's that simple.

I try not to always praise Burton and Keaton and I've never hated Bale actually he's one of my fav actor's its just there are one or two problems I don't like when he plays Batman, mostly the deep voice. I try to be more fair and try to distance myself from the lows of people like GoogleMe and Damian Dark. I praise things about Batman Begins at times (most notably Bale, Gary Oldman, & Morgon Freeman) and wish some of the things in BB was in other Batman films. I have nothing against Nolanites personally but they can be annoying at times the same is true about Burtonites, I myself on 1 or 2 occasions have probably pissed people off but come on who hasn't. The film Batman Begins is still of my favourite films and my 3rd favourite Batman film. I have many faults with Batman '89 & Batman Returns and if the chance arises to post those faults in the right post I will, the same goes for Batman Begins, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin.

And I would call myself a Burtonite but not because I'm one sided and only like Burton films but because Burton's films got me into my obsession with Batman as a young child and have always been my favourite films since then. I have nothing against Batman Begins hell I love it and love Nolan's take on Batman I'd rather see different people's version of the same character than just one version. Sure Batman Begins has it flaws but so does every other Batman film for that matter and I will never become like GoogleMe or Damian Dark.

:whatever: Was anyone as amused by these imature ramblings as i was? i may be totally wrong but from your posts you seem more like a young 20 year old dreamer who sits behind his computer and dreams of friends in the film biz then an adult (i see your profile says your a film student hmmmm...) i dont give two figs what Keaton or Burton thinks personally i love thier batman but i dont hunt down everything they have ever done or said and i enjoy BB for what it is but its not my favourite interpretation simple you dont agree? dont read my or anyone elses posts you disagree with:cwink:

That's a couple of days off for the name calling. Do not continue to act that way.

Heh! This is a great thread -- congrats to the maker. Oh no, sorry. I actually thought I was in a thread named something like: Burton/Keaton vs. Nolan/Bale . . .

But I think it's good that we are all venting, because this sh;t needs to stop. There's a few around that are acting like children, having to have that one favourite toy.

CFE and Doc, you guys are talking a lot of sense, and it's eased my mind to read posts that are so close to how I feel about the division that's happening due to people being unable to praise without knocking down.

It's got to the point now where I feel like cringing when I say I like both (I really do like both, don't ask me to pick haha), because it feels like I'm sitting on the fence basically.

^ With an avatar and name like yours, you should not fear. :)

Do you ever just not want to care about the pros & cons of Burton Batman & Nolan Batman?

I like all of the Batman movies, I just prefer the ones Burton made. It's cool to have a preference but what we don't like are people who defend one side to the death and will never acknowledge any problems with it, but go on to bash another director's work time and time again. I won't give any names(as if it needs to be said). Those type just make Burtonites look bad.

I notice plot holes and flaws in both Nolan's and Burton's movies, but that still doesn't keep me from enjoying them. I love all of their work but I don't consider their Batman movies the definitive versions.

I can't claim to be a Nolanite nor a Burtonite at the moment, the closest I probably come is being a Nicholsonite. I still think he was untouchable. So no Timmy Boy, or Nolan Boy, but I sure as hell am I Jack Nicholson Boy.

:joker:

Yeah, I may have made a point, but I bungled it with the namecalling. It's hard not to, sometimes. But remember, your point in an argument is always diluted with childish behavior.

Glad my favorite Burtonite poster is back :woot:

Ick. I'd had a bad night and I took out too much aggression on Damiean. What he was doing is maddeningly dumb, but I shouldn't have been so damn vicious.

But seriously. It's the posters like him that cause there to be aggression toward Burtonites. It's past the point where a lot of Burtonites are attacking Nolan's films in perceived revenge for attacks on Burton, so the final few that still do it keep that animosity against pure Burtonites around, even if it's smaller. He can't praise Burton without bashing Nolan, and it's an unbelievable double standard.

The Burtonites have ignoring the few extreme anti-Burton posters "pretty well wired" as Mike Keaton might say. With people like Damiean Dark stopping, we could definitely have the fights prettymuch gone. There'd always be the slight infraction, but it really seems to be on it's way out. It's just the last few holdouts that keep it running. Both sides are starting to chill and respect each other, and I'm happy about that. Just people like Dark and GoogleMe who keep up the backhanded Nolan bashing get the anti-Burton people yelling louder, which gets us going back at them.

Even the few anti-Burtonites that start ****, we typically do a good job of ignoring or "pwning" them by pointing out either their immaturity at the whole thing, or poking holes in their arguments. But GoogleMe and Damiean Dark (I really think they're the same person based on their similar behavior and the few times each other has answered questions posed at the other one) aren't doing any such thing. They just throw mud back instead of actually ending the fights by using logic or just ignoring the "menace."

Why don't we just ignore GoogleMe & Damean Dark forever, never answer their posts or reply back to them that way it would kinda be like they are not there plus what's the point in arguing with GoogleMe & DD since they just post the same 5 type of posts over and over again. And though I have on a occasion been too much of a Burtonite, pls don't ever put me in the same league as GoogleMe & DD, & just to let you know I love Batman Begins and have nothing against it, still my 5th fav movie of all time.

Everyone in Burton's movie seemed momentously ******ed except for Batman and the Joker. It was really unrealistic and too gimmicky.
