Comics Back in Black

I think I may know where they are going with this Back in Black storyline for Spidey....bear with me...

At the end of The Other, Peter's old skin, now empowered with the evil spider crap or whatever, coccooned up in a church....what else happened in a church in the SPider-Man mythos? You're ou tof time, he originaly got rid of the symbiote there (the black costume), and it bonded with Brock to form Venom.

Now, supposed that this cocoon hatches, this evil Parker comes out, and dons the black suit in order to take Peter out (in the mean way, not on a date or anything).

Oh, this Nega-Parker would also have blond hair...dum dum dum (yeah, he'd be called Ben Reilly too)
You're reaching.

Amen.

Also, why the hell would Peter want to wear the black costume again?! Did he suddenly get even more stupid (hard to believe, given his latest act of idiocy), and decide that the murderous Venom symbiote which was seeking to take him over was now trustworthy and wholesome?! Argh...

Bring back Venom, have Spidey fight him, instant movie tie-in. Ta-da!!

Actually, after he got rid of the symbiote, Spidey wore a non-symbiote version of the same black costume until MJ made him stop wearing it because it creeped her out and reminded her of Venom.

Didn't Felicia give it to him?

i think bc DIDget it for him
all in all i'd rather see him in THAT than the sidekicksuit [id rather not drag the honorable name of robin through the mud by associating it with the iron spider]:ninja:

I know that.

I was running with the idea of this being a tie-in to "Spider-Man 3"...that would mean that, for whatever reason, Peter would be wearing the symbiote again. If it's a true "Movie tie-in", they'll want Peter back with the alien, however temporarily or unimaginable that might be.

maybe after pete gives up the sidekick suit a copy of the black suit's all he can find at first:ninja::spidey:

I could see that happening. It happened during Mackie's run, as well as once during the Clone Saga (although Peter just wore the mask and gloves to avoid upsetting MJ).

I could swallow that, but not him getting the symbiote back.

Basically, as I've stated MANY times recently, everyone will forget who Spider-Man is, ala the Flash, including Mary Jane. And Peter, for fear of having her attacked, tortured and/or killed by his enemies, will stay away from her.... because he LOVES her that much.

This scenario ensures that nobody will die, Peter yet agains proves to be the self-sacrificing martyr that we've always known him to be, and the Spectre of Spider-Man will once again come between himself and the woman he loves.

As far as who's in the Black Costume, I suspect it will be Peter, but with a lot of speculation on a return of Ben Reilley, who really knows...

:yay:

I love the black costume, but let's not delude ourselves, it's a shame it's coming back simply because of the movie.

From the guy who argues that the black suit represents a great creative period for the character.
I doubt Ben will be back. They've made some stupid moves lately but I can't see them doing something THAT stupid.

I've been very impressed with him since I've been reading Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. I've been LOVING that title! And believe it or not, I thought it sounded like a stupid concept at first. McKeever has done a great job.
With all this talk of MJ dying, I actually asked McKeever on his forum if MJ's possible death would cause SM/MJ to be cancelled: Here are his exact words:

" Nah. What happens in the MU doesn't affect the publishing plan for our little series. We're safe for a while yet."

It's comforting to know, that Joe's vendetta hasn't destroyed one of our few lifeboats on the sinking Marvel/Spider-man ship.
Thought you might be interested to hear that.
...
And about the return of Ben Reilly? when Joe Q told us to keep reading..I'd bet serious bucks he was talking about the Ultimate universe, where Ben Reilly has been mentionned in the solicits.

But they're already doing the Ultimate Clone Saga.
That is exactly what I meant..the question is: will one of the clones be "Ben Reilly"? or will it be the same lab assistant seen in the Carnage arc..

It's not THAT stupid in Marvel's eyes if a ton of people buy it.

I would in a heartbeat.

That would probably be the final straw. Many readers are hanging on by a thread & one more idiotic move (say, killing MJ, bringing back Ben Reilly) will do them in. Bringing back the storyline that put off Spidey fans everywhere would be a dumb move.

Out of curiousity, do you consider yourself one of those readers?

Don't you mean "character"? :woot:

1-not quite, but I'm getting there.
2-the character & storyline go hand in hand.

As I said over in the Marvel forums, this is something that I wasn't expecting. I feel kind of dumb for reading it because I would rather have had something like this come as a surprise, but I probably wouldn't have been able to avoid it.

I was expecting a lot of Venom stories or Sandman stories, but not Spidey going back in his black duds.

And, once again, what's with the Ben Reilly talk? I love Ben Reilly and the Clone Saga as much as the next clone lover, but Ben Reilly disintegrated into a pile of dust. Peter Parker Spider-Man # 75 was a REALLY great issue and I'd really hate for that to get ruined too. Even though I was one of the very few Spider-Man fans who would have had Ben Reilly stay the one true Spider-Man, I really don't want Ben Reilly back into regular continuity. Make an Untold Tales of Scarlet Spider. Make a bunch of miniseries that are along the lines of Redemption of the Lost Years. But, please, Marvel, DO NOT bring back Ben Reilly.

Well given the amount of Ben Reilly/Clone Saga name dropping in the Civil War Files one shot, I'd say its a pretty safe bet that he could be returning soon.

So am I the only one who has seen this very image in the same article?

Seems to be pretty spelt out for me.

Hmmm return of the black duds, I know obviously the timing will be quite contrived but I would still take the black costume over current threads that is if Spidey actually gets round to wearing em again.
