All this is going to do is become a Webb Vs Raimi debate......yet again.

Love the Peter Parker Gwen Stacy arc, best love story in a Comic Book movie, nothing beats it.
The conclusion to the love story is simply amazing, heartbreaking as you gained value from it throughout two films.
Best portrayal of Spiderman across the two films.
The reboot could have bombed but it didn't in my opinion
On its opening day, a pre-holiday Tuesday, it set a Tuesday-gross record with $35 million (previously held by Transformers).[247] The next day, the film dropped 33.4 percent to $23.3 million—the second-highest non-opening Wednesday.[248] Over the three-day weekend, it grossed $62.0 million. This pushed the film's six-day gross to $137.0 million, which was smaller than those of Transformers ($155.41 million) and Spider-Man 2 ($180.07 million) among past Fourth of July releases.
I would have continued the Raimi franchise. If Raimi, Maguire, and company wanted to return, then great. If not, recast.
Redoing the origin was unnecessary. All it did was cross ground we already covered. The franchise needed to move forwards, not backwards.

ASM1's start was scheduled around the 4th of July - hence the huge mid week opening #s and the lower Fri-Sun. ASM2's early May weekday numbers won't come anywhere near those and the 7 day total will be about $30m less.
Gitesh Pandya ‏@giteshpandyahttps://***********/giteshpandya/status/462976149396918272 Comparing 1st week 7-day starts, TASM2 will fall below TASM1. About $115M for TASM2 vs $144.6M for TASM1. Intl #s key.

If anything came out of the reboot it's that the Gwen Stacy story arc got the attention it deserved.
You couldn't really do that using the Raimi continuity.
t:They also wanted to age Peter Parker slower. They felt like they grew him up too fast and didn't have time to flesh him out.
And it can never really happen because the actor who plays him can't look like he's in high school forever.
Pretty much.
Though I felt ASM wasn't as good as it could have been, but Im happy they did Reboot the series. I wanted a different Spider-Man. A Spider-Man more up my alley.
I don't think they should have retold the origin the way they did, ASM was a bit sloppy. I disagree with some decisions, and I didn't like it as much as the other movies, and I hated the suit but I saw the potential in it all.
Now that ASM2 is out, it legitimizes ASM1 so much more for me. I can accept certain decisions that I disagreed with. ASM1 had to establish its own origin story and plot threads, I can respect that.
ASM2 is the best Spider-Man movie we've gotten so far, one of the best superhero movies ever made IMO and I absolutely think rebooting was the correct route no matter what the situation. Raimi and company were tired, things were falling apart, SM4 would have put the nail in the coffin. We dodged a real bullet in my view.
OH and Im in the minority here on this one, but I NEVER want to see Spider-man in the MCU. I don't want to give my views because it will turn into an MCU vs Sony vs Fox debate I'm sure. But I'm SO happy Spider-Man is not apart of the MCU.
Sure you could have. Just have MJ and Gwen switch roles.
