Batman: Arkham Asylum

Alerting them means like that they see you and start shooting at you.

Tried doing the challenges this weekend, combat feels impossible. I'm doing everything I can and not even coming close to the third trophy.

It's frustrating as hell at first, but eventually you'll get them. The key is to slow down and think one step ahead of the guy you're currently striking. Once you do that, you'll start racking up the combo bonuses which will also lead to the perfection bonuses. Thats when you rack up the big points and get the higher level medals. I got really frustrated at first and was never able to achieve more than a bronze, but took a short break and did the predator challenges and came back to it and was able to slowly work my way up to silver and gold medals. You just needto resist the urge to button mash.

Also how do you get the achievement for not being detected in the predator missions? With the shock collars the enemies are alerted to you basically the instant someone goes down.

IIRC there's only one achievement for that, and you can get it on one of the first predator challenges in the medical center where they arent wearing the collars. You pretty much just have to do a silent takedown on all 6 thugs and you get the achievement.

There must be something wrong with my game because even in the medical center they're wearing the collars.

You only have to worry about them if they see you. If the collar goes off but noone sees you, then it won't ruin the achievement.

Remember though, you can ONLY do silent takedowns...which is sneaking up behind them and pressing Y.

That means if you do a Gargoyle take down, or explosion or something, you won't get the achievement.

Got 100% today. The combat challenges are so much fun.
I'll try the game on Hard mode this weekend.

I'm at 70% at the moment, I'm doing the riddle solving spoiler free :D

Some of them are quite difficult, theres one I'm stuck on at the moment its something like "Every puzzle has several sides, even if only one is visable"..

I still need to complete it on hard. (Which means I'll have to go through Killer Croc's level again. Man, that level was annoying.)

After the second playthrough, and against my better judgment, I'm putting this game on eBay.

I would have kept the game:dry: (especially if you loved it). It's almost garunteed that Rocksteady will release premium DLC in the near future. I'll never sell/trade in my copy.

Hard's not so bad. If you have been doing the combat challenges like I did before tackling hard, it actually ended up feeling easier on hard than normal my first time through.

without the warnings when you're going to get hit, it makes the fights much more about paying attention to what is going on around you, as well as setting more traps and picking them off one by one and less about all out brawls.

Much more about strategy. It's fun though, and Crocs part is still annoying and stupid.

Crocs part was really easy. I think Bane or the Bane Clowns would be harder on Hard than Croc.

I've only played on normal so far so I was only guessing.

It turns out that on Hard, as long as you've gone through it once already and worked on challenges....it kind of makes the hard mode fairly easy.

I died much less than I thought I would and ended up taking most guys out with nary a problem due to the stealth challenges showing me the best ways to keep out of dodge.

Which one is it? I'm at like 60-something percent, so far.

beating it on Hard.

I kinda get sidetracked from beating it, because I still get sucked into finding all the riddles again and riddler trophies.

It's one of my favorite parts, actually.
The Scarecrow illusions too.

Just got hte game today and started on Hard. So far it seems pretty easy

Hard mode should have been the standard mode. Its no tougher, its just that the enemies dont have those dumb little blue warning lines above their heads and gunshots deal a bit more damage. I played on normal my first time thro and have since played through the game 4 more times and i always play on Hard. The game is much better on the hard difficulty.

Its not just this game but most games this generation. Its been a while since I played a game thats been really hard. I think Bionic Commando's hardest difficulty is the only game Ive played this year that I havent been able to get through. Most "hard" modes are mildly difficult and are nowhere near as impossible as games from the past were.

yeah, I really hoep the sequel takes us back to Gotham
open world is great and all
but it doesn't have to be like SPiderman2 or GTA where you can run around all day and night just smacking folks or saving them, depending on the day you've had
I think more villainsm new locations and new tricks are really all it would take to make people want to buy it
that, and less detective mode this time
or make it so it's always on or something
there's really no point in switching it off for a large part of the game
