Batman: Arkham Asylum

I like the idea that Ridder could have challenge rooms where you have to solve a riffle/task to move on in the story. He could be like the sequel's Scarecrow, although I'd like Scarecrow to come back again too.

I don't know how he could possibly have survived.
Croc took him underwater. You'd think that he would be brutally torn apart or eaten at the same moment. That's what he does when he catches us. Plus, he was pissed because of the collar when he caught Scarecrow.

From the Batman Arkham Asylum wiki page:

A Collector's Edition has been released by GameStop. The package features a 14 inch Batarang in the style of the game, a 50 page character journal, a bonus disc which includes interviews with voice actors, an exclusive Crime Alley challenge map, and a Batarang Box Set.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_Arkham_Asylum#cite_note-box_set_picture-34 Additionally, an exclusive preorder challenge map from Gamestop was announced called Dem Bones. It places Batman under the influence of Scarecrow's 'fear toxin' causing him to hallucinate and all the enemies to be seen as skeletons.
Didn't know that. Sounds interesting.

That's all old news. The Scarecrow map was a pre-order bonus at GS.

But one of the three endings has his hand coming out of the water, that must mean he survived.

Yeah, I know, man.
Before the credits it is also shown him being carried to the asylum.
What I'm saying is that I find hard to believe that he did survive after his encounter with Croc.

Maybe...Scarecrow stabbed him with his needle fear fingers...and Croc released him...:)

Okay I finally belated played this wonderful game. Between this Infamous, RE5 and Ghostbusters, it has been a great year for gaming and I still haven't played Thieves, Assasin's Creed II or SMB.

What a good year.

Anyway, I loved Arkham Asylum. If not for Halloween I would have finished it yesterday. I cannot get over how awesome it is to just swoop down and pick up asshats and pull them into the air and hang them from gargoyles. The final boss fight with Sacrecrow was epic and amazing. The voice acting and character design was great. I just began the challenges and cannot wait to unlock Joker for PS3. I am having a blast with this game.

Woo. 9.5/10

Only complaints: Poison Ivy, amazingly acted by the voice actress and visually gorgeous, but her boss fight was too painfully redundant. I was so sick of dying one hit away from destroying her because of that last fireball. Too wannabe-Zelda without the coolness factor. And the final boss fight could have been...better exploited given the characters involved.

One last question: I got the ending where Scarecrow's hand comes out of the water. What are the other alternate endings? I'm curious.

Just in case someone STILL hasn't played yet

Its the same thing you see Scarecrow do but with either Bane or Croc's arm

The alternate endings are seeing Croc, Bane, or Scarecrow grab the Titan box in the water at the end.

Woah. Hammil is not doing Joker ever again? Why? I admit, I thought he sounded a little...less whole than he has in the past, but he still knocked it out of the park. I would think he'd keep doing it as long as it was to be offered. If they do a sequel with JOker who would voice him and why stop voicing Joker? He's amazing in the role. I honestly cannot imagine an animated/virtual account of Batman/Joker without Kevin/Mark. Crazy. Indeed.

I need more trophies, challange maps or something. Haven't played Asylum in 2 weeks thanks to Borderlands. I really want Harley as a playable character in the Challange rooms.

Rocksteady Hints At Batman Sequel

Speaking in Issue 38 of Official Playstation Magazine (out now), Sefton Hill replied to the question of whether gamers would see a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum by saying this:
‘I’m not really allowed to comment on that, but there are definitely lots of exciting stories to tell in Batman’s world, and I can say that we’re really privileged to work on it, and excited about future possibilities.’
Maybe we’ll see the dank walls of Arkham Asylum again, or even a full-blown sandbox adventure in Gotham.

I'm really hoping for a No Man's Land kind of thing, but the all territories together could be approximately the size of the Arkham Island.

If it was another Asylum game the map would need to be almost 100% the same, that would suck. The main problem I have with the news of Crackdown 2 is that it's in the same city and the same map with only minor changes.

Saint's Row 2 had the same map as the first and it wasn't a problem at all. The changes were enough to notice, and it was wicked seeing what happened to places you remember seeing in the first game years later.

I don't know how well it would translate to Arkham though, it's not exactly a place for construction.

That's different though. The premise of Crackdown 2 is completely different from 1. And the map was HUGE. There are going to be places you didn't find before.

The formula needs to remain the same as Arkham Asylum, but they location needs to be new. They dont need to throw us into a GTA style world when they already have the formula that works.

It's a formula that works but still has a lot of room for improvement. Like having something to do after you beat the game besides wander around a completely deserted island.

No they dont really need anything more than that. Want to keep playing, just start up another game. They dont have to keep the game going once the credits roll other than to go back and get some items you missed. Maybe some type of MP would would help.

I don't know how the hell you'd put MP into this game but that would be interesting. I'm really anxious to see what Rocksteady will go with for the sequal. I agree that just starting a new game is good for now for replay value I've played four games already but for the sequel I think it needs more than that.
