Probably the best deal actually, I really don't care for the "extra level" from gamestop.

If we're talking about TV shows, then yeah I think it pretty much was. There were ones that kind of were, like Transformers and GI Joe, but those were most focused on being fun and never really took themselves all that seriously. Not to say they weren't good or anything, but they weren't of 'serious tone'.

Honestly, from a American animated TV show perspective I can't think of something before B:TAS that was really all that serious in tone
