Batman: Arkham Asylum

I have all the Riddler's stuff finished, including the teeth. And man it was satisfying, what with the little choad taunting me through the whole game.

What happens when you get them all? I'm trying to gauge whether or not I should follow through with it

searching for those riddles and trophies can be a lonely business, I wish they would repopulate the areas. I get the creeps from wandering around an empty asylum with just the Riddler for company.
That does sound creepy.
It's funny...at the beginning of this decade, people thought batman had a bad movie franchise, and some of the worst games ever created...now, things are quite different
Yeah, Bats has been in some good games last year. I like Mortal Kombat vs DC & Lego Batman was my second favorite of the Lego games (after Indiana Jones).

Wow, these Scarecrow levels are intense.
everytime i hear someone say that, i suggest Eternal Darkness, if you haven't played it, go get it, its for gamecube (so the graphics are a bit dated of course) but its clearly what all the scarecrow levels were based on

You pretty much need to get all of the Riddler stuff to unlock all of the challenge maps. And the challenge maps get pretty hardcore. I've been playing the combat maps since I beat the game and got all the Riddler stuff. Some of the extreme levels are incredibly intense. Although I did manage to finally make it through an extreme round without getting hit or breaking my combo, which got me the 40x combo trophy.

I took a break from the game for a day, and then today I made a little progress, but I was stuck for about half an hour on one part. It's where you've got to find Croc's cell, and I'm totally lost on how to do it because every area seems to be blocked off. Do you have to take out the sniper? If so, how? I haven't been able to get close enough to him to do any damage.

I can't believe the only unlockable costume they gave us is for the Challange Rooms.

I sure hope any other hypothetical costumes don't follow the same path.

I'll admit that I find that a bit of a letdown. I love the look of the armored suit & would dig using it in story mode. Hell, it would be cool if your suit changed when you bought the armor upgrades or when you visited the Batcave.

I'd also like to run around in the blue/gray suit. And maybe a skinny Adam West version.:woot:

Croc's cell is in the medical facility's sanatorium. It's that ugly mess of bars and skulls in a corner on the first floor.

Was the Penguin in this game at all?
He had a couple of easter eggs. There was a glass display case with his tophat and some umbrellas, and there was a poster for the Iceberg Lounge with his picture on it.

Both of which are the subject of actual riddles from the Riddler (which I wish there were more of in the game).

The "Shock and Awe" Extreme Challenge room is really starting to piss me off. :cmad:

I mean, it isn't the goons who are giving me a hard time. It's that damned time limit. I mean, if it isn't enough that I have to beat seven thugs, four guys with electric prods, three with knives and Zsasz as is that I have to do it under two minutes?! I make it past the first three rounds easily but in the last round I just can't take everyone out fast enough before the floor fries me. Until now, my best strategy has been racking up combos and using the takedown specials as soon as I get to combo level 5. The grapnel is only any good in the very beginning when everyone is in front of you, after which it becomes a nuisance to even contemplate using it since the goons will surround you from all sides and will only need a moment's opening to smack you around like a ball in a bloody pinball machine. I keep getting this close on the occasional try when I am left with maybe two thugs both of whom would go down in single hits had the time not ran out.

Anyone else finish this map? Some useful tips? Or were you like me and just got lucky?

By the way, the challenge rooms are where this game's combat really shines. It looks great and is an absolute blast to play. And there are simply no words to describe the satisfaction and the feeling of utter badassness after you've obliterated more than a dozen thugs in a single free flow combo through a dazzling display of counters, takedowns and critical combos...as Batman no less. If it weren't for the wonky ragdoll animations and quirky collision detection, this game would've easily had one of the best combat anywhere.

I barely even made it through the regular Shock and Awe map with one medal. I haven't seriously tried the extreme version yet. I died in the first round one time and said I'd come back to it when I've done some of the other challenge maps.

I swear if any DLC is extra costumes that can only be used in the Challenge Rooms, that's gonna bump me down from buying the game, to renting it.:o

a good portion of the riddles require a better than average knowledge of Batman and the lore...took me a bit today to find the Ratcatchers little hole

Yeah. I wish there were more riddles, less trophies, and less making the question marks. I liked finding things like Mr. Freeze's cell and T. Elliot on the surgery board.

By the time you find them all, you'll have unlocked all of the trophies, bios, audio tapes, and challenge rooms, and you'll get to hear what happens to Riddler.

Yeah, I really like the riddles in the game. Have to figure out what they are and then find them.

Another thing, I solved all the Chronicles of Arkham and
Does Sharp just disappear? Was he just a physical manifestation of Amadeus Arkham's spirit?

I assume he just left after scribbling the thing on the floor.
