Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 3

My biggest issue with City's narrative is that Hugo Strange's threat about exposing Bruce as Batman doesn't go anywhere. By the climax of the game it's like he forgets about it.

Agreed. I love Arkham City, but so much of it is wasted potential, and many threads go nowhere.

I mean, this is the game that somehow managed to forget to resolve its own major motivation and plotlines - saving the thousands from Joker's poison - and relegated the solution to a line and a half in a DLC release.

Agreed. That's one of the greatest disappointments. I can agree to disagree with how media decide to tackle certain plot points, but choosing not to go there at all just leaves a hollow, unfulfilled feeling. Would've liked to have seen Strange do something with Bruce's identity. I'm hoping Hush taking over Bruce's identity goes somewhere in Rocksteady's Arkham 3 at least.

I'm liking how the boss fight with Deathstroke sounds like it really challenges you. I hope all the Boss are equally as satisfying.

Finally, Batman had to fight Deathstroke the Terminator, an assassin and a regular enemy of the Teen Titans in both comic books and animation (sadly, Ron Perlman does not voice Deathstroke in this game). The boss fights in the Arkham games have generally been the weakest points, so Deathstroke's fight was a refreshing surprise. Instead of using environmental obstacles or gimmicks to fight him, Batman had to use counters and times attacks, just like in Freeflow combat. As an assassin, Deathstroke is just as competent at fighting as Batman is, so he can counter, use tricks, and basically go against Batman head-to-head. Deathstroke could not only counter Batman's attacks, but even counter his counters, forcing a counter-attack war for who would stay standing.

The fight occured in phases, with Deathstroke using his staff, his guns, and eventually taking out his sword while Batman wore him down, occasionally jumping out of range to attack from afar and forcing Batman to either dodge gunshots with smoke bombs or to rush in close before he got shot. This boss fight showed some surprising flexibility and variety, with mechanics far closer to the game's mainc ombat system than boss fights in previous Arkham games. We'll have to see how other assassins fight when the game comes out.

my favorite boss fight

1. Mr. Freeze (Arkham City)
2. Poison Ivy (Arkham Asylum)
3. Scarecrow (Arkham Asylum)
4. Clayface (Arkham City)
5. Ra's Al Ghul (Arkham City)
6. Mad Hatter (Arkham City)
7. Killer Croc (Arkham Asylum)
8. Solomon Grundy (Arkham City)
9. Penguin (Arkham City)
10. Riddler (Arkham City) *I just wished that I got to beat the crap out of him first like I did with The Penguin, instead of a cut scene take down*

Hated
Bane in Arkham Asylum
Two-Face never faced Batman, Although Catwoman scraping out his other face was fitting.
Joker Titan was a joke, although the end punchline worked.

So I figured that since my Arkham City disc stopped working, it's perfect time to buy the GOTY edition.

Turns out I get the same ****ing problem with that one, meaning there's something anti-Batman in my PS3 and not the discs themselves not working.

**** I'm so sick of my PS3 right now.

Don't know if this has already been posted. Don't really care. :o

They needed to make him pudgy. It isn't Adam West without.the pudge. I hope they increase the chances for a triple counter. I really love the triple counter animations

It is pretty snazzy. Makes me wonder if it has any special bells and whistles on it.

The Adam West suit looks a bit out of place, but it's still welcomed. The BTAS suit in AC struck me the same way and didn't affect my playing interest.

If the suits don't have anything extra, it'd be nice if they at least have different stats. Like the Spider-Man games during the PS1 era. The symbiote would have things like added strength, Spider-Man 2099 had unlimited webbing I think, Spider-Man Unlimited could turn invisible. Ok, maybe a little extra, like Unlimited's invisibility.

I remember the Captain Universe suit fondly.

I'm starting to feel like Deathstroke is one of the main reasons I'm getting this game. Everything related to him is looking great to me. I just hope we don't have just one quick battle against him and that's it. The way they talk about it is quite exciting.

Am I the only one who would want Deathstroke as the final boss battle? Like, after everything is over, all assassins taken care of, Joker beaten to a pulp, Black Mask behind bars, Deathstroke comes back for 1 final fight. And it's not about the money anymore. He just wants to settle who's better.

I agree. I also had a problem understanding how the people in the hospital were cured. Joker mentioned poisoning them and in one of the side missions Alfred says he may have a cure (at least I think it was Alfred), but it was just a trick by the Mad Hatter (if I remember correctly) - meaning did all of those people infected with Joker's blood in the hospital die?

The final battle being a rematch against Deathstroke, after all is said and done and he has nothing to lose, is everything I'd want for the end of the game.

I can take of leave those costumes personally. The Knightfall/Spawn Batman is alright, but I don't really have much interest in the Adam West version of Batman. I think they did a great job with the look of the material, but it's not one I'd see myself ever using personally.

There is like 8 more I think. All look pretty badass.
