Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 4

Loved the video, but the thing I actually took away from it so much was being blown away by an actual professional commentator.

I swear, every bloody preview I've seen for this game has had a nasally voice or unprofessional commentator. This lady was nice in just giving the facts and making a few funny comments.

Will they plan to release more story DLC?

My only complaint about Arkham City is I felt they could've done a little more post-game with the DLC besides some new challenge maps and only one story DLC.

What do you mean? All ten minutes of Harley Quinn's Revenge was exhilarating!

WB Games Montreal gets $1.5 million investment from government

Quebec's government has invested $1.5 million in WB Games Montreal, developers of the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins, as part of a five-year, $63 million expansion which will create 100 jobs at the company.

WB Montreal Studio Chief Martin Carrier predicted the studio would play host to 500 people and "be one of the best-known studios in the world" by 2018, CTV News reports. Premier Pauline Marois, who announced the grant, also said that the game development scene in Montreal was the top market in Canada, and that Montreal itself is one of the top three cities in the world leading game development.

Good news. Hopefully they get a one-two combo going with Rocksteady and WB Montreal. Rocksteady focusing on the ongoing timeline and Montreal dealing in Batman's early days. They have five years before the events of Arkham Asylum to work with. Could be interesting given what likely happened in that time. Namely "No Bane, this time I break you!" - and the transition of Batgirl to Oracle.

Hehe the government supporting a video game company! Sounds Polish(The Witcher)! ;)

Origins is only 5 years before Asylum? Surely they don't have to use the same timeline to the DCnU?

Early days and spin-offs hopefully. I would love to get a Batman Beyond game. I wouldn't even mind a game that focuses on Nightwing. Maybe even a game that focuses on the 'Battle for the cowl' storyline.

Yes, it's five years before.

That conversation I quoted from Arkham Asylum leads me to believe Batman has been broken previously by Bane in some way. Barbara Gordon has an appearance in Origins. When she's Oracle she's confined to a wheelchair. The circumstances leading to these events could be different but it seems they will/have happened.

That would be nice especially with a game. The whole 'play as different characters' thing.

I also love stories that f&^# over years long character development of the batman supporting cast in favour of a quick event to shore up business.

No, I'm not pissed over what they did to Tim and Cass and Dick (and Steph but that was earlier) at all. Why do you ask?

Another timeline ruined. Yaaaay.

I honestly never really read it. I just know Batman "died" and that there was a fight over his legacy.

Really looking forward to this one, even more so after the new preview videos.
Excited about what they have planned for the intro, after Rocksteady set the bar high with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

So any chances of this game winning GOTY like the previous two did?

Another timeline ruined. Yaaaay.

That is my biggest worry. It doesn't look at all like it takes place just 5 years before AA. How did Gordon go from having brown to pure white hair in just 5 years? How did Batman go through 3 Robins? That is New 52 logic right there that doesn't belong in this universe.

However, as long as there is nothing in the game that directly points to it being 5 years before AA, I can always pretend there is a bigger gap. So far we only know it takes place 5 years before AA because they said so.

If the grapnel boost is in Origins, and it appears it is, then that's another goof since in AC Alfred said it was still in the prototype stage.

I think that it is based on the E3 footage.

Gameplay-wise, I don't have a lot of problems with this game. Continuity-wise, it looks like they pulled a New 52.

I could care less about the continuity as long as it does not pose in-game problems.

They're calling it the Grapnel Accelarator now.

So is anyone able to figure out which bat suit that is next Blackest Night? Someone said they thought it was the New 52, comparing it to the comic version, it doesn't seem to look like it. The New 52 belt has an oval shape in the center. But this skin has a square looking one.

And so it is the New 52, my bad.

I wonder what the announcement will be. Probably just another assassin reveal right? Or would that be too small for NYCC? Maybe the revealing of a new DLC story?

Oh yeah I saw that on their face book apparently them and marvel will be showing some stuff there with their games. Marvel will show off Asgard as PCZ's for Marvel Heroes., it's a good thing they finally said some on controller support thanks to the steam machines. But yeah this is about Origins. Well I'll be checking out both as usual.
