I'd be down for that. It would actually be a great way to address his guilt over letting him die and be a way to grow out of it and continue on fighting.
I just hope he is also allowed to properly grief for Talia as well.
Yeah, that was weird. "Dear Zod! The love of my life is dead, I shall mourn her - oh no! An even greater tragedy! A serial killing mass murdering psychopath who has crippled my most powerful ally and close friend is also dead. Sorry Talia, we'll get to you funeral arrangement later. Also, we forgot to wrap up this cure plotline about several thousand being infected in Gotham, so we'll explain it away in a single line in the disappointing DLC."
You're making excuses due to the medium, saying that just because it's comics means we shouldn't care that this stuff happens all the time, bad story telling is bad story telling no matter what medium it is. We shouldn't have to just accept it, we should demand better.
Well, I give a ****. It doesn't matter that it's a story about a whiny orphan in bat pajamas fighting a clown. In this case the particulars of the story are not important. It's a matter of taking the art of storytelling seriously in and of itself. Characters "dying" instead of dying is only one of the problems (and not even the biggest one) modern comics have in regards to their capability to do good storytelling.
This is certainly one of the big reasons I rarely support DC any more. The problems endemic in superhero comics are staggering, and Bob Harras, Geoff Johns, and Dan Didio are only making them worse. The nihilism, the no marriage fiat, the endless misery, the endemic racism and sexism, what they did to Cass and Steph, and, well, that last one was enough for me.
My desires for the next Arkham game:
- A story that spans several days or weeks, and is not stuck in one eternal night. I want to see different weather conditions, different levels of sunlight (or lack thereof). They need to emulate the GTA games a bit in this aspect, and figure out how to incorporate a larger spanning story. I know this is difficult since they don't have the amount of time Rockstar had to work on this, but the Origins/City model can be expanded and improved.
- More free roam capability. Batmobile driving, Batwing flying, controlled by the user and not only for one or two missions.
- A populated city that isn't shut down or isolated, which would be a welcome change of pace for the next game.
- The ability to select one of at least three different Batman skins when you start story mode and during it. It's lame to have to start the entire story over to use a skin variant in-game.
I like these. I agree with not one night. I'd also love a mission with Bruce Wayne at a party in the evening, the afternoon sun coming through, and you have to call in other heroes and give them information while being held hostage by invaders. You could analyse the room like in Origins, and relay information to Batgirl (I demand Cass dammnit!) and Robin.
I would also like Catwoman again, but more integrated into the storyline and with better dialogue.
At least he had a pretty great fight scene. I was disappointed by the Shiva encounter.
I was a bit too, but ultimately I was pleased by how she was written. She is established as the greatest martial artist in comics, and unlike Deathstroke in the game gets to walk away so the writers may maintain that. Her more cynical morality and focus upon becoming better and testing others was also very present. Plus, Kelly Hu.
